The sanitation workers saved a little girl’s life when they spotted her inside a trash bin, just moments before she could have been crushed.

Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes was in DeKalb County where it happened.

The workers were startled when they first saw the little girl.

When Zahmontay Cherry, Richard Jones and Peter Williams showed up to the job on Oct. 4, they thought it was just a regular day.

But when they scooped up a trash can in the 6700 block of Old Covington Road in Stonecrest, the bin felt heavier than the rest.

“I dumped it and a body came out. I went to the driver and I’m like, ‘Man, there’s a dead body back there,’” Cherry said.

“I saw her come out – he (Cherry) didn’t really react until I reacted. I was like ‘Whoa.’ I backed up (and) I noticed there was a little girl back there,” Jones said.

The little girl had been missing for three days.

If these workers didn’t notice her when they did, she probably wouldn’t be alive today.

“So, once they brought it to my attention I initially shut off the truck because once I stepped on the gas, it would’ve automatically crushed her,” Williams said.

Randy Kaufman was arrested Oct. 4 but suspended his campaign Tuesday following media reports of his arrest. Kaufman is running for the governing board of the Maricopa County Community College District, and was allegedly caught ma********ng by the county’s community college police.

“I fu**ed up,” Kaufman told an officer during his arrest, according to a police report.

The report says the incident began when an officer with the Maricopa County Community Colleges Police approached Kaufman’s parked vehicle and saw the man with his pants down.

“[Kaufman] appeared to be looking at a cell phone in one hand,” the police report said. “I immediately became alarmed as I saw [Kaufman] had his pants down mid-thigh and was exposed showing his fully erect n**e p***s. [Kaufman] was manipulating his ge****ls in a masturbatory manner.”

The officer said Kaufman didn’t seem to notice the officer at first, but that Kaufman was in view of a nearby bicyclist and a preschool where children were playing outside. When confronted, the officer said, Kaufman apologized for the act.

Are you in favor of this?
(DailyMail) Jamaica's broadcasting regulator has banned music and TV broadcasts deemed to glorify or promote criminal activity, violence, drug use, scamming and weapons.

The government said the ban is meant to cut back on material that 'could give the wrong impression that criminality is an accepted feature of Jamaican culture and society.'
Jamaican artists criticised the measure, saying it cuts populations affected by heightened gun violence out of the conversation, and that it will do little to stop crime.

'Art imitates life, and the music is coming from what is happening in Jamaica for real,' said Stephen McGregor, a Jamaican Grammy Award-winning music producer and singer. 'But because it doesn't fit the moral mould of what they would like it to look like, they try to hamper it.'

The ban comes after years of struggle by the Caribbean nation to halt high levels of gun violence, which caused Jamaica to have the highest murder rate in Latin America and the Caribbean last year, according to research centre Insight Crime.

Dancehall rapper Vybz Kartel, who has been slammed for his 'obscene lyrics' that brought 'nothing positive' by the National Communications Network of Guyana, was sentenced to life in prison in 2014 for the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams. Yet he has continued to pump out music while imprisoned.

Lawd these poor babies 😂😂😂

Overall, survey respondents said they spend about $91 on a night out, on average. Respondents who identify as women said they would spend an average of $81 on a date, while respondents who identify as men said they would spend an average of $104.

"Everything is getting more expensive," LendingTree Chief Credit Analyst Matt Schulz says in the report. "It's not just the new clothes, roses, ride-share, fancy dinner, concerts or the after-show coffee — it's all of it."

"The extra cost of each of these things individually may not be earth-shattering, but added together, they can be a very big deal," Schulz adds.

Keeping track of your dating expenses can be difficult, since "humans are known to inaccurately account for their money mentally – both in terms of the amount they've spent and their spending limit," Michael Liersch, head of advice and planning for wealth and investment management at Wells Fargo, tells CNBC Make It.

"That combination can create dynamics at the end of the month where you go to pay the rent, utilities or other bills and realize that your dating life is causing you to spend in a way in which you're indebted," he says.

An Olympia woman is being threatened with fines over a sign hanging inside her home.

Shirley Pavao’s homeowners association called a Black Lives Matter sign a violation of the Lost Lake Resort community policy. However, she said she has become a target of a policy that is not legal
Pavao has until Saturday to remove the sign or be fined.

“This is my living room. This is my Black Lives Matter artwork on my wall,” Pavao told KIRO 7′s Gwen Baumgardner.

The sign has been a point of tension in the rural neighborhood for more than two years.

“There was an outroar in the community. Specific people started complaining, wanted it down,” Pavao said.

That’s despite neighbors appearing to be in violation themselves. At one home, a Trump doormat could be seen on the ground. At another, a thin blue line flag was noticeable.

The complaints started in the summer of 2020 when she hung the sign in her front window but her HOA board took action.

“The previous board wrote up a new rule limiting what people could have on their homes, the outside of their units, what you could have in your yard, what type of signs, nothing political, so I immediately removed my sign,” Pavao said.

She then placed the sign on her living room wall and that was the end of it until last week. She received another complaint from the board.

(NPR) The city of Philadelphia issued an apology Thursday for the unethical medical experiments performed on mostly Black inmates at its Holmesburg Prison from the 1950s through the 1970s.

The move comes after community activists and families of some of those inmates raised the need for a formal apology. It also follows a string of apologies from various U.S. cities over historically racist policies or wrongdoing in the wake of the nationwide racial reckoning after the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.

The city allowed University of Pennsylvania researcher Dr. Albert Kligman to conduct the dermatological, biochemical and pharmaceutical experiments that intentionally exposed about 300 inmates to viruses, fungus, asbestos and chemical agents including dioxin — a component of Agent Orange. The vast majority of Kligman's experiments were performed on Black men, many of whom were awaiting trial and trying to save money for bail, and many of whom were illiterate, the city said.

Kligman, who would go on to pioneer the acne and wrinkle treatment Retin-A, died in 2010. Many of the former inmates would have lifelong scars and health issues from the experiments. A group of the inmates filed a lawsuit against the university and Kligman in 2000 that was ultimately thrown out because of a statute of limitations.

😮😮🤯

In 2016, Christine Jacobsen decided to take an at-home DNA test. Both of her parents had immigrated to the US from Denmark, she said, and she was curious about her heritage.

"I expected the results to show that nearly all of me was Danish," Jacobsen, who was 64 at the time of her Ancestry.com test, told Insider. But to her shock, her pie chart estimated that a quarter of her DNA came from West Africa. The Ancestry matches she received were far too distant to help find any close relatives.

Now 70, Jacobsen grew up in a New York City household where "there was always a level of dysfunction," she said.

"It was the '50s and '60s, and my parents were liberal progressives," she said. They would often put her to bed without a babysitter and then head out to listen to jazz in Harlem. Sometimes they'd tell her they were having "friends sleep over," sending her to the home of a neighbor or cousin, she said.

In her mid-teens, Jacobsen realized that the sleepovers were swingers parties — events at which married or partnered people have casual s*x with others, with their spouse in attendance. "I knew, but it was never discussed," she said.

🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Former WNBA player and Texas basketball legend Tiffany Jackson died Monday after a seven-year battle with breast cancer, the University of Texas announced. She was 37 years old.

“Tiffany had a great career and was an impact player,” her former coach, Jody Conradt, said in a press release. “She was recognized for her all-around game and the fact that she was tremendously mobile and could play multiple positions. She was beloved by teammates, and we share in the sadness of her passing.”

From 2003-07, Jackson appeared in 123 games and made 103 starts for the Longhorns. The forward is the only player in program history to record 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 300 steals and 150 blocks. Her 1,917 career points are the fifth most in school history, and her 1,039 career rebounds are fourth all-time.
