On the call with my inner circle on Saturday, I noted how Friday and the early hours of Saturday were torrid for me.

It was one bad news to the other. So bad that I cried. I have not cried like a baby in about 8 months, the last being when I was served breakfast. I shouldn't explain, but so you don't think otherwise, there were frustrating circumstances that made me cry that didn't even involve the breakfast.

Well, whatever you think, the fact still remained that I cried.

Many months after that last cry on Friday, I cried again. I think it was that day that I decided that I needed a break. But when I woke up on Saturday, I got another bad news and I quickly opened my diary where I used to write important quotes that year, read a few and I saw one. If you were on this space in 2019, I had made an exposure of how taking breaks make me broke and how keeping up despite wanting a break, fuels me. It's weird and I can't explain.

So I decided, NO BREAK.

Then I had to make an emergency journey home, for personal reasons. Decided to go out early this morning (MONDAY MORNING). If you had called me earlier, I would've told you I wanted to 'get to work one last time.'

But work was a place where I was scheduled to be, I was last there two years ago. (I'm trying to keep it as discreet as possible, while trying to pass on the message).

Because of the scarcity of fuel, I was at the park for two hours and had to fly Bolt. It was a good-bad decision.

I got to 'work' early enough and immediately, reminisces of 2020 began to haunt me. This is a popular place in Abuja. In 2020, I got rejected here. I sincerely wanted to turn back because....

Well, I didn't turn back. It was better to get a NO than be a coward.

So I faced it.

And within 30 minutes, a response came. It was a NO. For the first time in all my existence, I didn't swallow hard spittle from being rejected.

When I asked that beautiful girl to go on a date with me, I swallowed hard spittle. When I failed a paid course in 2021, I swallowed hard spittle and didn't even tell anyone about it. When I hit rock bottom everytime, I swallow hard spittle. When I lost out on a grant in the final stage last year, I did swallow hard spittle. It was routinal.

But this time, I didn't. I had grown. Grown to becoming firmly rooted in handling rejections. I sincerely wasn't sad nor numb. I was just happy, happy that I had at least tried. Happy that in 2024, I'd be back here again to hit on this same door and maybe get another NO, or a scarce YES.

"I would keep playing the qualifiers and even if I don't qualify now, someday in the future I hope to lift the world cup. But not playing the qualifiers is not a part of the plan because those who eventually win it every year, first played the qualifiers." - A new quote for my diary.

And here I am at Berger in a Car half-full, the female passenger in front complaining of the sudden surge in fuel price but unable to do anything about it, and a handsome Corper getting in to sit beside me and asking in a friendly tone, "what is funny in this Nigeria?"

Should I tell him?

WHY YOU NEED TO FOCUS ON GETTING BETTER AND LET ME DO YOUR ADVERTISING.

In 2021 alone, I facilitated over 150 masterclasses. But that's not today's focus.

In every of my classes, self-facilitated or invited, I would always cite realistic examples. I'd talk of how Emeka Nobis is a god in closing sales. If invited for content writing, I'll never forget to mention how Agbaje Ayomide changed my writing game.

When the opportunity to give an example on effective mentorship and the importance of communities, I'd tell participants "Pison Group made me."

Only recently, at the UNILORIN's Writer's Workshop, I was talking about the INWARDNESS of writers and how consistency is everything, and went on to say my admiration for Adeyemi Joy who herself is a student of the great institution.

And tomorrow, I'd be speaking at a content writing workshop. I'd talk about the Adedoyin of PenPros.E, who makes me look good by rubbing some of her goodness on me. I'd talk about you how Zita Anah creates great content. I'd talk about Amarachi Lilian and how she's smashing B2B content, helping businesses grow. I'd mention that each social media requires Peculiar content and ask that everyone brings out their phones, get to LinkedIn and type "Viral Author," only one Denu Vour Bon.

These guys and more guys are smashing it real hard in their niches and I cannot keep calm.

Do your part and leave the rest to me. No one ignores Twilight. He provides the best shawarma in Oye-Ekiti. His customers would increase today because I'm sure you want to taste what his Shawarma is like. Order for two.

Spend the better part of your time, money and other resources on getting better. Leave the advertising for me. It costs $0.

Till I write you again,

THIS LETTER IS FOR YOU, WHETHER YOU'VE COACHED SOMEONE OR YOU'VE BEEN COACHED BEFORE.

Dear COACHES,

Do you ever feel like you're not doing enough?

Are you like me whom, whenever there's no feedback from a particular class, I just rush to conclude "oh, another disaster. I didn't give them the best."

I grew up in a surrounding that demanded 100% or nothing. Attending a military school didn't even help matters.

In the last say six months, I've trained over 500 people on making money from Freelancing on Upwork, Dropshipping, Digital Marketing, Content Creation, and some more niches. And maybe it's from me, but I have not gotten as much as 50 feedbacks - positive or negative.

But over the week, someone I trained in September reached out to tell me how he's clicked 3,500 Dollars plus in sales, from my "free" masterclass. I was happy and went to bed a happy family man.

Today, Sam walked up to me and told me of how he made money from Upwork too and how he wanted to tell me but felt he needed to do more. Now, that was the spur for this post.

Sometimes, as coaches, I'm not sure we do enough. We (if you're like me), believe that it's a natural law to come back and say some thanks if it works. That's my believe. But truthfully, we need to go out to ask sometimes. If the feedback doesn't come, going out to ask doesn't hurt. Might be hard to do, but it's worth it. It would eventually help us track down every of our protégé's growth.

Dear COACHED,

It's hard for sometimes. If I trained 5,000 people in the last year, it's harder to reach out to them all, than for each them to reach out. So yes, you can help us. You can. We want to know if what we taught has helped you. We want to know if we successfully deposited a fertile amount of s***m in you, enough to help you too deposit in others.

We want to know the other side too, if there is. Was the session unhelpful? Was it like every other you've attended? Nothing special? A waste of money, time and energy?

We want to know.

Sometimes, that positive feedback is what helps me stand up from the bed, even when I'm tired.

Other times, the negative feedback is the bitter fire that fuels my day and makes me do more.

But I always want to know. And if you see this, and you're like Sam, please let me know how any of my teachings have helped you.

Till I write you again,

My name is Oluwaseyi Ebenezer Babalola, on official documents. Otherwise, I am known as Seyi Babs, with the tag: the king of the business of writing.

But has it always been this way?

NO!

I have been as deep in debt as $5,000. I've had that much above debt too. And somewhere in-between, I discovered that the difference was Knowledge - the right Knowledge.

In 2020, I was awarded 'Top-rated Freelancer on Upwork' and made as much as $3k within my first 6 months on the platform. I have since gone on to freelance on other platforms like Fiverr and Toptal. Right now, all I do is teach people to make money.

Asides business, writing and everything that makes money, I love Chelsea football club and take my Tea cold. I hate scrambled eggs and have never tasted it and could get lost eating Sharwama.
