Reposted from “I fluctuate between calmness and fear. Fear of being tossed into battle with no armor against an enemy I cannot see. People are making jokes, obsessing over toilet paper, and complaining when they have the choice to stay home and be safe with their families. I wish I could be with mine. Doctors are dying. Young healthy ones. Doctors that could have had a lifetime of caring for patients cannot any longer because people are finding any excuse to leave the house. When I’m not working I’m home praying, mediating, FaceTiming family and friends, exercising. Whatever I can do to strengthen myself to prepare for the inevitable invasion that is to come. Although I’m afraid for my fellow women and men that will fight along side me, it calms me to know they will be there. My attendings and colleagues are determined to keep us safe. I just pray that while we are in the trenches our communities will help us limit the casualties by staying home. We will fight the war together. We will win. Help us.”
