We're Rebranding!

Big changes are coming! We're rebranding from Live Love Local Michigan to PULSE of the Great Lakes.

While our mission to celebrate the beauty, culture, and community of this incredible region remains the same, we're expanding our focus to include the entire Great Lakes region, from Michigan's shores to the sorrouding Great Lakes states shorelines and Canada.

This transformation will bring a fresh name, look, and content, while still honoring the local spirit you've come to love.

Our official relaunch is happening this January, and we're so excited to share this next chapter with you!

Stay tuned for updates as we make the transition and thank you for your support on this exciting journey. Together, we'll explore and celebrate the heart of the Great Lakes!

Current subscribers, keep an eye out for information on your subscription coming to your mailbox in January.

We are in the process of moving our platform over to BlueSky.

Why are we doing this?

For many reason including the fact that it is not driven by adversiting dollars so it's not big on data mining; it's far more user friendly by focusing on the users and allowing us to truly build community. They operate on a decentralized model, meaning that no one company has control, giving users more say in how their data is managed and what they see on their feed.

In short: we are not slaves to ever changing algorithms or content moderation rules that we cannot control.

If you are so inclined to follow us there, we invite you.

We are working on building our platform there over the coming days, so join us and get in on the blue wave!

AURORA ALERT!

She's been shinning bright again this week up north and we may have a G2 storm this weekend with more Auroras.

"The sun had another flare today labeled AR3869, erupting with an X3.3-Class flare at about 0400 UTC this morning. This flare had an accompanied 5900 sfu ten-flare, as well as a type II (610 km/s) and type IV radio bursts associated with it, as well as a wide CME that showed up as an asymmetric full halo in LASCO C3 imagery. The CME speed averaged about 1550 km/s for the front, but the Earth directed component would be significantly slower than that.

Currently modeling is underway by most agencies, but we do have one out from M2M forecasting a side glance arrival early in the UTC morning on the 26th. Geomagnetic storming is possible upon arrival, and if I had to guess NOAA will put out a G2 watch for the 26th later today.

The video included shows the flare in a few different wavelengths, as well as the active region in white light, and the CME from Lasco with the M2M model included at the end."

Aurora is still dancing in the sky and will be all night. I captured more magnificent shots. I have a bunch more on my Canon, but you have to subscribe to the magazine for those. 😘

If you haven't gotten outside yet, do it! Turn your smartphone on nightmode, point to the sky and snap!

It's 8:05pm on 10/10/24. Get outside! She's starting to show. This is in Munising.

AURORA ALERT!

There's is a G5 storm starting about 2:30pm EST and lasting 24-36 hours and should reach through the midsection of the country if not the south. The G4 we had in May was seen in Hawai'i!

This means Aurora tonight is expected to be glorious!she will show tomorrow evening as well, but is not expected to be as strong.

If you have clear skies where you are, step out after sunset. You can capture them with your smartphone.

You may be able to see them with the naked eye, it will look ethereal, Grays and greens and you may even see some pink. If you see large gray streaks in the sky, that is Aurora. If you see a green glow on the horizon, that is Aurora. Your phone will pick up more colors than the naked eye can see, because we have limitations to our naked eye.

Here is what to do regardless of whether you have an iPhone or an Android.

Put your phone in night mode, with at least a 3-second delay in capturing the photo. This will work just fine for beginners.

Have fun! I'm still on Lake Superior and hope to capture even more magnificent than I did the other night.

When you step outside at 1am and are greeted with a most magnificent Aurora Borelias. ❤️
