Yesterday Meta released Threads, a competitor app to Twitter and raked in millions of signups in the first few hours. Personally I’m enjoying to much more than Twitter so far and I don’t think I’m alone on that.

Glad to be working from my desk again this week as I had to go out of town and work from just my laptop last week.

I’ve got my morning coffee and reviewing what I did last week so I can pick up where I left off. I’ve been building some really cool stuff lately with Chakra UI that I can’t wait to see released.

Working on mobile responsiveness today. This means taking a web page and making sure all of the components in the UI adjust for various screen sizes. This can be a tedious process but it’s a must!

Getting started on the Next.js 13+ course from Scott Moss on Frontend Masters. I’ve been building on the side with a lot of the new features from Next.js 13 but hoping to learn more from this course. Hoping I can use some of these features in my Next.js repos at work too 😃

Upgrades 😏

Upgraded my MacBook yesterday from my 2020 13” MacBook Pro with an i5 chip that ran as hot as the sun sitting in my lap to a new 14” MacBook Pro with an M2 Pro chip. What a difference I can tell already!

Got my coffee and ready to start the day. I’ve been digging through a bunch of old VB code this week tracking down some form validation logic so me and my team can rebuild it in a modern service. Digging through old code in a language you don’t know isn’t fun but someone’s gotta do it 😅

Yesterday was a very productive day for me, as it was our "Meeting Free Wednesday". I was able to get a lot of heads-down time and dedicated the day to repository maintenance, which included upgrading packages and making small fixes.

Jest is one of the most popular testing libraries out there for JavaScript and is also capable of testing things like TypeScript and React.

Kicking off the morning working on editing some GitHub actions workflows to enable automatically cleaning up files from S3 PR stacks.

This will be super useful to keep from cluttering up S3 on AWS with files from PR stacks that are no longer needed. Great practice to make sure you clean up resources you no longer need!
