TURISMO SA SIARGAO, SUMISIGLA MULI

Ang pandemya na tumama sa bansa noong 2020 at ang pananalasa na dala ng Bagyong Odette noong Disyembre ng nakaraang taon ay lubos na nakapinsala sa industriya ng turismo sa Isla ng Siargao.

Ayon sa datos ng DOT-Caraga (DOT-13) ay nagpakita ng biglaang pagbaba ng mga turistang dumating sa isla noong 2020 at 2021.

Mula sa 257,900 turista noong 2019 bumaba ito sa 67,717 noong 2020. Noong 2021, ang bilang ay bumaba pa sa 28,287, na binubuo ng 27,553 lokal at 737 na dayuhang bisita.

Gayunpaman, nakasaad sa talaan ng DOT-Caraga ang unti-unting pagbabalik ng mga turistang dumating sa isla sa unang dalawang quarter ng taong ito.

Ang datos mula sa lokal na tanggapan ng turismo sa General Luna ay nakapagtala ng 44,482 turista na dumating sa isla na nakarehistro sa bayan mula Abril hanggang Agosto ngayong taon.

Sa kabuuan, 41,796 ang lokal na bisita mula sa iba't ibang rehiyon sa bansa habang 2,686 ang mga dayuhan. Surfing pa din ang nananatiling pangunahing atraksyon sa isla.

“Sa isang national surfing event na nagaganap ngayon dito, libu-libong turista ang nakikita natin, hindi lang sa Gen. Luna kundi pati na rin sa buong Siargao," sabi ni Mayor Matugas.

Positibo din niyang inihayag na ang paparating na international surfing competition sa susunod na buwan ay makakaenganyo ng mas maraming bisita, lalo na ang mga dayuhan, upang saksihan ito.

Ang Oktubre ay itinuturing na buwan ng surfing kung saan mas maraming dayuhang bisita ang darating sa isla, para mag-surf, makipagkumpetensya, o masaksihan ang international surfing event.

LOOK: 1st Kumbati SIARGAO Boodle Fight Setup Competition

SITGOA in partnership with LGU- General Luna held its first boodle fight set up competition today with the theme of “Embracing Siargaonon Culture Through Food Tourism”. This is in celebration of the 104th Annual Patronal Town Fiesta of the Municipality of General Luna, Siargao Island.

One of the advocacies is to strengthen and promote food tourism in the island infused with arts and culture. It is no doubt that most of the tourists enjoy the boodle fight during their island hopping as part of their tour package.

Boodle fight is the traditional Filipino way of eating a ton of filipino good food with the bare hands. It is also used to describe the Filipino communal feast where food is served on banana leaves, diners eat standing and without cutleries.
