Finally meeting some important people in person (obviously )!! Stoked they let me tag along and bribe them with food so I could learn a lot more about forensic psych.

Make sure to follow and to learn more *NUANCED* information on the fascinating field of forensic psychology. So many podcast and show hosts masquerade as forensic psychologists 👀, but these people are the real deal. (Not pictured but she was there in spirit and is worth a follow!)

As a qualitative researcher, I always find the constructs of language fascinating. So, of course, I had to notice the same people who called me “unprofessional” because of my makeup (which, by the way, was tamer than it is now) were the same ones abusing students without batting an eye.

An important reminder that academic conferences are not opportunities for bullying or abuse. I experienced this as a sophomore in college after we were left hanging by our advisor and we’re followed around by other faculty.

This , let's talk about LONELINESS. We might wave that experience away, but loneliness is linked to some pretty significant mental and physical health concerns. If anything, this also demonstrates how connected our minds, bodies, and relationships are! The good news is that many have reported less loneliness very recently, and we have options on several levels to intervene. After all, this isn't just an individual issue; this is also a public health concern.

🌶️ Spicy Thursday! 🌶️

I get very frustrated seeing therapists jump to hospitalizing someone because they themselves can’t self-regulate. Buttttt it’s not that simple, because our training is s**t in this area. We aren’t taught thorough and confident assessment of risk, and we’re also taught ethics in a fear-mongering way. What NOT to do, instead of what TO do. At the end of the day, we’re taking away someone’s autonomy, and we can’t forget how big of a decision that is.
