To change our lives...we need to change the way we speak about them first! In a prior post, I mentioned the gray area inside our English language.
Lets analyze wikipedia's description of the word RIOT and shed some light into that gray area.
VIA WIKI~
“Riot
Description
A riot is a form of civil disorder commonly characterized by a group lashing out in a violent public disturbance against authority, property or people. Riots typically involve destruction of property, public or private. The property targeted varies depending on the riot and the inclinations of those involved.”
In this description…the writer or “word-assemblers” would suggest there are other mentionable forms of Riots, though they choose to speak only of the violent ones. This is fair and well and helps cohesion and understanding for the reader, but often omits massive batches of relevant but unmentionable data fields. For example…
Part 1. “A riot is a form of civil disorder…”
One single form of civil disorder. Not all civil disorders are riots, but not all riots are civil disorders. Meaning there can be disturbances of the peace which are not civil disorder and not riots. Likewise, there can be Riots that are not dis-orderly and invasive.
Part 2. “…commonly characterized by a group…”
As in must be more than one person. TWO OR MORE.
“Commonly” usually….a group….aka a big enough gathering to f #$% SH&^ up if things go wrong, but also big enough to insight a massive shift in political, economic, social and personal change….if or when things go right; VIOLENT OR NOT.
BUT A CAUSE FOR REFERENCING WHEN THINGS GET OUT OF HAND IS BECAUSE MOST OF THE GIGANTIC SOCIETAL/ECONOMIC/POLITICAL/CIVIL CHANGES HAVE COME AT THE HANDS OF MASSIVE UPHEAVALS.
Part 3. “…lashing out in a violent public disturbance…”
Now at this point in your read…you could be associating EVERY RIOT as this very specific instance of words “lashing out in a violent public disturbance.”
This is merely being specific again…but keep in mind the writer wants to convey a message. That message is heavily leaning towards the side of saying
“If property is not not effected, and people are not aggressive”….we will then not embrace that alternative meaning of the word ‘riot’ here…and push it into a direction that helps describe the feeling and association WE THE WRITERS would like you to feel.
Part 4. The property targeted varies depending on the riot and the inclinations of those involved.
Again, this one instance of an aggressive RIOT is now representing all ROITS as this type of exchange. In this case, “The property targeted varies depending on the riot and the inclinations of those involved.”
This statement doesn’t actually say anything. It would be better worded…
There is no actual way to calculate the potential for damage and personal harm in these situations as due to our genetics and habituations…we come from a long line of individualized civilizations whom had been forced to uprise…in an attempt to be heard. And our economic doctrine positions us to constantly be in competition with one another. So yes…even the most peaceful RIOT…could be a landscape of tense, historical and psychological attachments waiting to erupt.
If only they were given better language.
Love used to be a ‘concept’ when the universe was less measured. But through our creation of systems and measurements, we exposed some of the fabric we sought. Whether or not you can acknowledge that LOVE IS AN INGREDIENT… AS IT IS ALSO A CHOICE…depends on whether or not there may be a “DARWIN AWARD” with your name on it…somewhere in the future.
We are the new humanity and if you carry the old flesh…it can be cohesively assisted with forgiveness….or mother f@ #$’s we will love you to death.
