Being a Christian doesn’t mean we are immune to pain.
It doesn’t mean I don’t get hurt, disappointed, or tired.
It means that I'm human too and learning every single day on how to love like Jesus and how to protect the peace He gave me.
Sometimes, love looks like speaking up.
Other times, love looks like stepping back.
And both are okay.
I’ve realized that boundaries are not walls.
They are doors that I choose when and how to open.
They don’t mean I stopped caring about other people. I realized that I started to heal.
They don’t mean we stopped loving them. I just learned how to love wisely and not carelessly.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it,” it says in proverbs. Setting boundaries begins here. Guarding your heart isn’t selfish. It’s obedience.
Even Jesus withdrew from the crowd to pray.
He didn’t please everyone. He pleased the Father.
And if that’s my example, then I can rest knowing that taking a step back isn’t failure. It’s faithfulness.
Setting boundaries is not a sin. It is an obedience too.
From bursting with anger, now I learn how to guard my heart.
Acknowledging what I feel and praising God even in the middle of the fire.
