PYLON ESPORTS HOLDS FIRST-EVER MLBB OPEN QUALIFIER; 8 TEAMS WERE SHUT DOWN IN ELIMINATION

Pylon Esports through PUP Quezon City Sport’s Club (PSC), Polytechnic University of the Philippines Quezon City Branch’s official student organization for sports, kick-off its first-ever open qualifier for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, May 15, 2021.

The first-ever open qualifiers titled “Clash of Aspirations: MLBB Open Online Campus Tournament” were joined by 16-teams formed within PUP Quezon City Community, eyeing for the grand prize of 3000 UniPin diamonds and the title as the first MLBB champion in the said university.

Tournament format is divided into four – Round 1, Round 2, semifinals, and final match, with each team, only needing 4-consecutive wins for every match to secure the grand champion title.

Teams within PUP Quezon City did not hold back on the first day as 8 teams were already out of their road to championship while the remaining 8 had their hopes still up

Zero Ping Gaming managed to defeat Anonymous Annihilators while MGA KAWAL NI KWEEN JASWYN came on top against Master B8. ENTRisk was not able to make it through having JP SEC-OP as the victor against their match while Sentinels ML got their victory against PUYAT GAMING.

On the other hand, Team Quarantine failed to continue their journey as PUPqtsii owned their match. LastPlay was able to go on to the next round as they stop Proggers’ championship hopes. TSN secured a round 2 slot after defeating CHARMS while Ipis Lang kami completed the remaining teams that will proceed as they dominated the game against VN Enigma.

Round 2 will begin on May 16, 2021 with the match up of Zero Ping Gaming against MKNKJ by 2:30PM, JP SEC-OP is up against Sentinels ML by 3:30PM, PUPqtsii versus LastPlay by 5PM, and TSN facing off Ipis Lang kami by 6:30PM. All matches will be broadcast live by PSC on their page.

Winning teams in this round will be moving forward to the bracket’s semifinals, a few matches away from the grand championship.

The first-ever MLBB Open qualifier tournament will run until May 17, 2021.

JP-SEC OP'S SURPRISE REVERSED SWEEP LEFT ZERO PING GAMING WITH MATCH UPSET, 2-1

REVERSED SWEEP IS REAL!

After showcasing an amazing team fight, excellent roaming, positioning capacity, and usage of tensile heroes on Game 3 of semifinals, JP SEC-OP secured their spot on the grand finals after defeating Zero Ping Gaming with a reversed sweep, 2-1, Monday, May 17, 2021.

Zero Ping Gaming got the first score with a brilliant choice of heroes up to the zoning, controlling the crowd, and with an extreme damage on the first game completely dominating JP-SEC OP but because of the smart defenses and brave roaming abilities of JP SEC-OP, although trailing, managed to keep the first game alive and extending it until 25 minutes mark.

A successful quick analysis by the JP SEC-OP on how the opposing team plays the game leads to their victory for the second game. A clever and crucial set up served by the JP SEC-OP instantly snatched the momentum from the Zero Ping Gaming, which drove the audience wild on Facebook Live’s comment section.

ZPG on the second game secured fast jungle with the hero Granger but the JP SEC-OP revealed their meta hero Roger which is partnered with Khufra. An excellent rotation was showcased by the JP SEC -OP especially the tank who perfectly protected the team and an exceptional game changer offered by X-Borg who made the opponent choose what to secure first while his teammates were attacking the lord that resulted the score to 1-1.

A powerful fifteen-minute game for the last round given by the JP SEC-OP, which obviously holds the zone and crowd with matching perfect roaming and positioning makes their team victorious. On the other hand, a little swapping of heroes happened; ZPG claimed the X-Borg and Jawhead of the opposing team while the notorious Granger from the ZPG was picked by the JP SEC-OP.

Switching of some heroes didn’t work for the ZPG, their strategies, defense and offense failed, and their core hero Brody, that was previously nerfed, caused the gap between the opposing team’s core hero. However, JP SEC-OP’s Granger, and of course the whole, showed a dominating Game 3 limiting ZPG map to their base and soon taking both the game and the match away from their opponent which gave them the ticket and be the first team to reach the tournament’s final match-up of Clash of Aspirants: E-skolar MLBB Open Campus Tournament.
