Let Fasting Be Part of You

Matthew 6:16 “Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.”

Fasting cannot be substituted with any other practice in terms of fortifying the believer’s spirit. We must begin to see fasting as a requirement if the Christian expects to walk and work in power in the Kingdom of God. It is through fasting and prayer that the spirit of a man receives the power from on high.

In today’s reading, Jesus did not give us the chance to choose it as an option but recognize it as a lifestyle. Here are three reasons why fasting must be a lifestyle:

1. Fasting crucifies the appetites.
“For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” – Galatians 5:17
The Bible tells us that our flesh with its appetites, desires things contrary to what is spiritually beneficial to us. As we give attention to seeking the face of God through fasting, the voice of our flesh is weakened as we deny our appetites. Consequently, we become spiritually active and sensitive.

2. Fasting empowers us to overcome temptation
Temptations come to us all, just as they came to Jesus. Matthew 4:1- 11 shows us how He overcame the devil’s temptation after He fasted. Jesus said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

3. Fasting makes prayer more effective
I have had great successes in the past and still do, ministering to sick people with various diseases with the help of fasting and prayer. Like Jesus said in Matthew 17:21, “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”

Precious one, fasting is not a new teaching that Jesus taught His disciples. Kings, prophets, men, women and children lived a lifestyle of fasting in the Old Testament. The early church used fasting and prayer as a great spiritual weapon. They engaged the presence of God through fasting in all they did. We can do the same if we take it up as a lifestyle.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, grant me the strength and understanding to access the power that accompanies fasting and prayer, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Pray Until You Prevail

Isaiah 66:8 “Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.”

In this opening Scripture, the prophet Isaiah observed an amazing and wonderful thing. He observed the fact that as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Your persistence in prayer will yield results. It is God’s will for us to see and enjoy the fruits of our labour. This is the reason why every believer must pray until he or she prevails.
Here are three reasons why we must keep praying until we prevail:

1. Continuous prayers supply the spiritual needs of god’s people.
1 Thessalonians 3:10 “Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith.”

One of the expectations of Apostle Paul was to see the spiritual needs of God’s people provided for; and the approach he used was continuous prayer. All believers must also pray until they see their spiritual needs provided for. Pray to prevail.

2. Continuous prayers deliver you from your enemies.
1 Samuel 7:8 (NIV) “They said to Samuel, ‘Do not stop crying out to the LORD our God for us, that he may rescue us from the hand of the Philistines.’”

When you keep fuelling fire, it continues to burn until you stop fuelling it. Continuous prayer mounts up pressure on the enemy to break his strongholds. Therefore, persist and prevail till the enemy loses ground.

3. Continuous prayers provoke god’s mercies over your life.
Psalms 86:3 “Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.”

Your daily prayers to God provoke His mercies over your life. In effect, you make God aware that you are incapable and totally helpless without Him. As a result, He will show you His mercies, so keep praying.

Precious one, pray until you prevail because continuous prayers provide the spiritual needs of God’s people, it delivers you from your enemies and finally provokes God’s mercies over your life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I ask for strength and the grace to pray until I prevail, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Know When to Fast

Matthew 6:16 “Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.”

Despite biblical examples of fasting throughout the Bible, many Christians are slow to fast. Today’s Scripture suggests that fasting is imperative but many would ask, “When should I fast.” The following are just 3 circumstances in which you can:

1. You can fast when in need.
The Bible says in Ezra 8:21, “Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.” Ezra is seen proclaiming a fast when they were in need. One can embark on a biblical fast when in need.

2. You can fast when in danger.
There are a lot of situations in the Bible when a fast was embarked on. People fasted when they were in one danger or another. For instance, when Esther and the Jews were under threat of genocide, they proclaimed a fast. “Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise… (Esther 4:16)” Esther’s fast paid off and God answered her.

3. You can fast before embarking on god’s mission.
In Antioch, before Saul and Barnabas were sent off for missions they fasted and prayed. Acts 13:1-3 says, “And when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.”

Precious one, the period of fasting is the time where we humble ourselves and diligently seek the face of the Lord. Therefore, whenever you decide to fast, know that God will respond with deliverance.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, let every voice of temptation and discouragement from fasting be silenced, and give me grace to fast properly, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a Financial Plan!

Luke 14:28 (NLT) “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?”

The story is told of a father who had two sons. The younger son asked his father for his inheritance, and the father honoured his son’s request. However, the younger son had no
financial plan, he was wasteful, extravagant and squandered his fortune, eventually becoming destitute.

Years later, the younger son was forced to return home empty-handed. He begged his father to accept him back as a servant. It is sad how a son who had the status of a prince was seeking to be in the employ of his father as a servant due to poor financial planning.

Today’s reading tells us that it is very important to plan towards our use of money and the acquisition of wealth. We need to keep in mind that nobody has ever arrived at financial increase by chance.
Furthermore, in the case of the wasteful son who inherited much from his father, he fell back to zero because of mismanagement of his portion of the inheritance. To experience financial increase, there are practical approaches you must stick to.
Here are three guides to planning properly:

1. Live within your means.
Like the elders have said, “Sew your coat according to your material.” Simply stated, do not spend based on the example of others if you do not have the capacity to do so.

2. Avoid unnecessary indebtedness.
As a rule, those who want to make financial progress in life must at all costs avoid becoming indebted. The Bible says that the borrower is a servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7

3. Be disciplined to save.
“Let Pharaoh take action to…set aside one-fifth [of the produce] of the [entire] land of Egypt in the seven good years of abundance.” – Genesis 41:34
Like Joseph told Pharaoh, financial experts advise that you save 20% of all your income as a lifestyle over a long period of time to be able to build financial wealth. Without discipline, this would just be a good idea, but it would not reflect in your pocket.
Precious One, from today, do well to plan for your finances.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, grant me the grace and wisdom to plan and use money wisely in order to yield increase, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

MESSAGE: *"WHY HE PRESERVED US"*

In some few hours, the books, chapters and paragraphs of the year 2023 shall be closed forever until the day of judgement and accountability.

You yourself can testify that, some have been buried whilst you are alive. God has spared us from accidents and incidents, from disgrace and shame, from prison and detention, from business collapse, from poor health, from stress and mental agony, from physical harm and pain, from emotional pain, from debts, from disappointment, promised and failure. Your family is preserved, lives of your kids. Oh what a God! The same medication you took that saved you, others didn't survive. The same hospital you went and returned, others ended in the morgue. The same ministry, business and opportunity that survived in your hands, others had theirs collapsed. The situation you are going through, others passed through same and it drowned them but the same God has preserved you. When others sank, you were kept afloat. The same opportunity you had that you succeeded, others had same but failed. There are uncomfortable instances. So the basic question is: *WHY WERE YOU PRESERVED?*

1. *FOR HIS NAME SAKE*...Not because you deserved to live but for His own sake...Psa 23 vs 3

2. *TO SHAME THE WICKED*....God preserved our lives and shall continue to do so to shame the wicked. Psa 37 vs 13 tells us that God laughs at the wicked. All they plotted this year didn't work and won't work. See Isaiah 7:7 (NKJV) thus says the Lord God: "It shall not stand, Nor shall it come to pass.

3. *FOR YOU TO BE A TESTIMONY*....God preserved the lives of Lazarus Dorcas and the daughter of the Centurion so they would serve as a testimony in His kingdom. One of the main reasons why we are still alive today is for our lives to be used as a sign post, bill board, flyer and advertising tool for the Lord. Shout, "Me and my family, we are a living testimony!"

4. *TO GLORIFY & HONOR US* Psalm 91 vs 15 tells us why God preserved us throughout the year....To honor us. Psalms 91:15 (NKJV) He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and *honor him*. May the Lord honor you before the year ends.

5. *TO PROPAGATE THE WORD*. At Hallelujah Embassy, our slogan is...*"Sending The WORD to the World"* Matthew 28 vs 19 admonishes us to Go into the outermost part of the world and reach out. How? With all our resources including (money, materials, time and connections). Did you ask why some people were cast into the sea but were eaten by the fishes? AndJonah had same experience but was preserved? Paul was preserved after their ship went missing in the ocean for days? Answer: To propagate the gospel of Jesus.

*So don't miss the reason why the God preserved you in the year and will preserve you in the coming years. His assignment concerning you must be fulfilled.*

End the Year in Thanksgiving

Psalm 100:4 (NIV) “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”

Do you remember the parable of the ten lepers? Only one among the ten who were miraculously healed by Jesus returned, overwhelmed with thanksgiving. He didn't just have an encounter with Jesus but was made whole. As we conclude this year, let's emulate the leper’s gratitude, recognizing that thanksgiving opens the gates to divine blessings. As we stand on the threshold of a new year, let's take a moment to reflect on the journey in gratitude towards our Almighty Father. Here are three reasons why we must give thanks to God for seeing us through this year:

1. God sustained us with His Grace
God told Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) “…'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness’...”

Reflect on the countless moments when God's grace sustained us through challenges, upheld us in weakness, and carried us when our strength faltered. Our journey is a testimony to His enduring grace.

2. Thank God for His unfailing love
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Consider the unwavering love that God has poured upon us throughout this year. His love has been a constant, an anchor in the storms, and a source of comfort in times of distress. Let's give thanks for the immeasurable depth of His love.

3. Thank God for His divine guidance
Psalms 73:23-24 (NIV) “Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel...”

Acknowledge God's guidance that has led us through the paths of life, decisions, and uncertainties. His wisdom has been our guiding light, and His faithfulness has paved the way. Let's express our gratitude for His direction in every step.

Precious one, As we bid farewell to 2023, our year of God’s Faithfulness, let's wrap it in a garment of thanksgiving, acknowledging the goodness, faithfulness, and love of our Father in Heaven.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for leading us through 2023. May our hearts overflow with gratitude for Your continuous presence and guidance in our lives as we enter 2024 in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lay Aside All the Weight and Prepare for the Race

Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ”…Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”

As we approach the end of another year, it is essential to reflect on our journey and prepare for the new year ahead. Just as athletes shed unnecessary weight to compete effectively, we too must lay aside the weight that hinders our spiritual progress. Here are three ways to lay aside the weight and enter the new year’s race with renewed strength and purpose.

1. Release Past Regrets and Failures
Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭18‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬) ”Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.“
Carrying the weight of past regrets and failures can hinder our progress and prevent us from embracing the new year’s opportunities. God encourages us through Isaiah to forget the former things and focus on what He is doing. Letting go of the past allows us to run the race with a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of hope.

2. Surrender Worries and Anxieties to God
Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭31‬-‭32‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬) ”Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.“

Anxieties about the future can weigh us down and rob us of the joy and peace God intends for us. Jesus reminds us in Matthew that we should not worry about tomorrow but trust in God’s provision. As we approach the new year, let us surrender our worries and anxieties to God, knowing that He holds our future in His hands. By doing so, we can run the race with confidence, knowing that God is in control.

3. Let Go of Sinful Habits and Distractions
Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)”Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.“

Sinful habits and distractions can hinder our spiritual growth and keep us from fully experiencing God’s blessings. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, urges us to put to death the sinful nature and rid ourselves of anger, rage, malice, and other vices. As we prepare for the new year, let us intentionally lay aside these weights, seeking God’s forgiveness and embracing a life of holiness. By doing so, we can enter the new year’s race with a renewed commitment to follow Christ.

Precious one, as we approach the new year, let us lay aside all the weight that hinders our spiritual progress by releasing past regrets and failures, surrendering worries and anxieties to God, and letting go of sinful habits and distractions.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as we lay aside all the weight, help us enter the new year’s race with renewed strength and purpose fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith in Jesus’ name. Amen.

From God, Through God, To God: A Faithful Steward's Journey

Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein”

In the beginning, God fashioned the world as His own. From Eden's dawn to the present day, the Bible narrates an unyielding truth: every aspect, including our finances, belongs to the Almighty. As stewards of His creation, faithfulness becomes our sacred duty. Here are 3 essential keys to being faithful financial stewards as we get ready to enter the year 2024:

1.​ We must recognize that God is the Giver of all we have
God is our Source of money and the Giver of all that we possess. The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 8:18 that, “It is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”

2.​ We must be conscious that everything belongs to God
The Psalmist says in Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” God created the earth and everything in it and walking in the consciousness of this truth would help us manage God’s property much better.

3.​We must focus on God’s glory
In our use and making of wealth, we must seek to glorify God, the Source of it all. Apostle Paul exhorted us in 1 Corinthians 10:31 saying, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”

Precious one, let us be faithful in the management of the finances that God has blessed us with, knowing that He alone is the Source, the Owner, and Giver of it all.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me to be ever conscious that You are the Boss, and guide me to become a faithful steward, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Finish Strong: A Look Back at 2023

Ecclesiastes 7:8 (NLT) “Finishing is better than starting. Patience is better than pride.”

Over the years, we have heard echoes of biblical wisdom guiding us to understand why finishing outweighs starting. Picture the profound moment when Jesus declared, "It is finished." His victory, rewarded by the end of His earthly mission, exemplifies the power of conclusion.

Here are three reasons why finishing strong is important:

1. The end determines your victories.
“When Jesus, therefore, had received the vinegar, he said, 'It is finished,' and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost.” – John 19:30
At the end of His ministry, Jesus declared the end and gave up the ghost. At this point, it was either He had succeeded in His mission or failed; either His death was a victory or defeat. The end of a thing is more important because it reports your victories and/or defeats. I trust that you chalked up some victories this year!

2. The end determines your rewards.
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24 (ESV)
Rewards naturally follow victories. If you fought the fight of faith victoriously, your reward would be the product of your faith. If you served faithfully, God, the righteous rewarder, will surely reward you. If you sowed according to the Word, then you will surely reap because God cannot be mocked.

3. The end determines your joy.
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” – Hebrews 12:2
How you end will determine the level of your joy and celebration. When you end well in victories with the evidence of rewards, there is much cause for joy and celebration. Even the best fighter or runner can only be hopeful before the game, but disappointment or true joy comes at the end.

Precious one, take time to reflect this year, see how you ran and fought, see how you worked; if this year has been an overall win for you, congratulations! If not, don’t give up—look forward and plan for the end.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for all the victories this year; for all that seems like defeats, I know that as long as I live and You are with me, it’s not over until I win, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Beyond Presents: Unveiling the Significance of Christ's Birth

Matthew 1:18 “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.”

It is not an uncommon thing to hear people say that they didn’t enjoy the Christmas season or that the season was dull for them, maybe because they didn’t have money to celebrate or have some fun. It is good to enjoy the season, however, the true meaning and purpose of Christmas should never be lost on us.

Being conscious of the reason for the season should fill us with a heart of gratitude towards God for all He has done for us, whether we ‘party’ or not, whether you go outing or remain indoors. There’s a reason why on that faithful day, the virgin was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Here are three significant reasons why Jesus Christ was born:

1. To save us from our sins.
“…for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins” – Matthew 1:20-21
Don’t grow an ungrateful heart just because you are not able to spend the season the way you desired but be grateful to God that He has saved you from your sins. This is God’s foremost blessing to you. Set your mind on it and rejoice in the Lord’s salvation.

2. To bring God to us.
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us” – Matthew 1:23
It is worthy to note that Christmas was the day that God visited mankind in bodily form. God became a member of the human race and He lived among us in order to accomplish His ultimate goal—to make us members of the divine race.

3. To bring us to God.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” – John 14:6
No one can know the only true God except by Jesus Christ. Those who receive Jesus, receive eternal life. This is the life that brings us to God Almighty and makes us members of the divine nature. Just us Jesus joined the human family to become son of man, we also join God’s family to become sons of God.

Precious one, let these things fill you with greater joy this season than what your money can provide. Be joyously grateful to God for His Son and all other things you desire will be granted.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus; let Your Son be found and fully formed in me by the Holy Ghost, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Matthew 1:23 "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

In life's grand tapestry, gifts weave through moments, bestowed by family, relatives, and friends. Among treasures priceless in worldly measure, Emmanuel emerges—God's profound gift to humankind.

As we unwrap the gift of Christmas, we unravel the profound truth that Emmanuel means "God with us."

Here are three benefits we have in God’s gift this festive season:

1. Deliverance from Afflictions
Just as God delivered Joseph from afflictions in Egypt, He promises to deliver us from all our troubles. Christmas is a reminder that God's presence ensures our liberation from life's challenges.

2. Mercy and Favour
Reflecting on Joseph's story, we find that the Lord's presence bestowed mercy and favour upon him. This Christmas, may the same mercy and favour surround you, washing away any offenses and bringing goodwill.

3. Wisdom Beyond Measure
Joseph's journey, marked by wisdom, culminated in his role as governor over Egypt. God's presence provides wisdom beyond our understanding. As we celebrate Christmas, let us anticipate divine insight and understanding for every aspect of our lives.

Precious one, as this special season, let's embrace the reality of Emmanuel—God with us. May His presence manifest in deliverance, mercy, favour, and wisdom.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Emmanuel, let Your presence be evident in our lives. Grant us deliverance, mercy, favour, and wisdom. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
