When was the last time you left your comfort zone - how did you grow?

This morning was the most recent time I went beyond my comfort zone. I recently joined a gym (if you didn’t know I don’t like being around people I don’t know) and pushed myself jogging. I was the fat guy sweating his ass off to go nowhere on the treadmill.

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Do you suffer from ANALYSIS PARALYSIS?

Analysis paralysis (or paralysis by analysis) describes an individual or group process when overanalyzing or overthinking a situation can cause forward motion or decision-making to become "paralyzed", meaning that no solution or course of action is decided upon. A situation may be deemed as too complicated and a decision is never made, due to the fear that a potentially larger problem may arise. A person may desire a perfect solution, but may fear making a decision that could result in error, while on the way to a better solution. Equally, a person may hold that a superior solution is a short step away, and stall in its endless pursuit, with no concept of diminishing returns. On the opposite end of the time spectrum is the phrase extinct by instinct, which is making a fatal decision based on hasty judgment or a gut reaction.

Analysis paralysis is when the fear of either making an error, or foregoing a superior solution, outweighs the realistic expectation or potential value of success in a decision made in a timely manner. This imbalance results in suppressed decision-making in an unconscious effort to preserve existing options. An overload of options can overwhelm the situation and cause this "paralysis", rendering one unable to come to a conclusion. It can become a larger problem in critical situations where a decision needs to be reached, but a person is not able to provide a response fast enough, potentially causing a bigger issue than they would have, had they made a decision.

The Difference Between Responsibility and Accountability

Responsibility is taking ownership of activities. A person who completes the tasks listed on their job description is responsible. Accountability is taking ownership of results. A person who clearly understands what needs to be accomplished and does what it takes to get the right results is accountable.
The distinction between responsibility and accountability was made clear to me when I worked with a Bookkeeper named Sharon. Sharon was one of the most responsible people in the company. She documented every instruction she was given to make sure she executed those instructions to the letter. But when something went wrong—when we didn’t get the results we wanted—Sharon was the first to say “I just did what I was told.” In other words, she “only” did what she was told to do. Sharon wasn’t as concerned about the outcome as she was concerned about staying out of trouble. She was responsible, but not accountable.

When you aren’t feeling motivated...
First, watch this quick clip.
It’s 53 seconds and I think you’re gonna like it.
Then, remember.
First you take action.
From your action you get results.
From your results you get motivated.
With that motivation you take more action.
And so the cycle continues.
But it all starts with action.
So, please.
Stop waiting until you’re motivated.
Make the decision to do something every day that will get you closer to achieving your goals.
And do it.
Every day.
Even when you don’t want to.

Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) Theory, developed by E.M. Rogers in 1962, is one of the oldest social science theories. It originated in communication to explain how, over time, an idea or product gains momentum and diffuses (or spreads) through a specific population or social system. The end result of this diffusion is that people, as part of a social system, adopt a new idea, behavior, or product. Adoption means that a person does something differently than what they had previously (i.e., purchase or use a new product, acquire and perform a new behavior, etc.). The key to adoption is that the person must perceive the idea, behavior, or product as new or innovative. It is through this that diffusion is possible.
Adoption of a new idea, behavior, or product (i.e., "innovation") does not happen simultaneously in a social system; rather it is a process whereby some people are more apt to adopt the innovation than others. Researchers have found that people who adopt an innovation early have different characteristics than people who adopt an innovation later. When promoting an innovation to a target population, it is important to understand the characteristics of the target population that will help or hinder adoption of the innovation. There are five established adopter categories, and while the majority of the general population tends to fall in the middle categories, it is still necessary to understand the characteristics of the target population. When promoting an innovation, there are different strategies used to appeal to the different adopter categories.
1. Innovators - These are people who want to be the first to try the innovation. They are venturesome and interested in new ideas. These people are very willing to take risks, and are often the first to develop new ideas. Very little, if anything, needs to be done to appeal to this population.
2. Early Adopters - These are people who represent opinion leaders. They enjoy leadership roles, and embrace change opportunities. They are already aware of the need to change and so are very comfortable adopting new ideas. Strategies to appeal to this population include how-to manuals and information sheets on impl

Arete (Greek: ἀρετή), in its basic sense, means "excellence" of any kind. The term may also mean "moral virtue". In its earliest appearance in Greek, this notion of excellence was ultimately bound up with the notion of the fulfillment of purpose or function: the act of living up to one's full potential.

Stop making excuses, stop blaming others for your own failures. Own it, learn from it and move forward!

Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into reality.

The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. By knowing precisely what you want to achieve, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. You'll also quickly spot the distractions that can, so easily, lead you astray.
