2023: Atiku Speaks On Picking Okonjo-Iweala As Running Mate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has denied media reports that he is planning to pick the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as his running mate.

Several reports emerged over the weekend claiming that Atiku met with some members of the international community in Zurich, Switzerland as part of moves to pick Okonjo-Iweala as his Vice President.

Apart from the former Minister of Finance, other names said to be considered for the vice-presidential slot are Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State; Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State; a former Govermor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha and former Governor of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan.

In a chat with The Punch, Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe refuted the reports that the former vice president met with some members of the international community in Switzerland regarding Okonjo-Iweala.
Ibe stated that Atiku has stepped up his consultations with stakeholders and party leaders to search for a candidate that will be acceptable to Nigerians and compliment him.
He said: “There is nothing like that; he has stepped up his consultations to search for a candidate that will be acceptable and complement him.”

Media personality, Daddy Freeze, has spoken out in support of Owo residents summoning Ogun, the god of iron, to bring justice to those killed in the Owo church massacre on Sunday, June 5.
It was earlier reported that some women in the Owo community gathered to summon the god of iron and war, ‘Ogun’, to avenge the worshippers killed at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo state.

Recall that gunmen stormed the Catholic church in Owo, Ondo state, and opened fire on worshippers, killing many and severely injuring scores.
The state government claims 22 people were killed in the horrific attack, while 52 survivors who were shot are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center, Owo; St Louis Hospital, Owo; and the Owo General Hospital, as well as some private hospitals. However, the Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Jude Arogundade, insisted that over 38 worshippers were killed in the massacre.

Reacting to the video of the women calling on the god of iron to get justice for those killed in the massacre, Daddy Freeze, who supported the act, said Nigerians abandoned their African paganism to accept European paganism.

Owo: Apostle Johnson Suleman donates N1m as fare for blood donors - Reno Omokri

After the attack at a Catholic church in Owo, Ondo state, details emerged that blood donors were needed to help survivors the Federal Medical Center, Owo.

Popular author, Reno Omokri said he was giving N5000 as transport for people who have shown evidence of blood donation.

He was later supported by popular man of God, Apostle Johnson Suleman who donated N1m for the same reason.

Woman suffering agonizing tummy pain tried to go to toilet but ends up giving birth

A woman who had an agonizing stomach upset rushed to the toilet to relieve herself only to realize she was giving birth.

New-mum, Billie Ward had no idea she was in labour. She had been warned she probably wouldn’t give birth on her due date so thought her tummy pains were a false alarm.

In her words ;

“[The day before the birth] I had a few pains at 5am. There was nothing too abnormal but I’d been having these pains for a few days.

“I was also booked in for a sweep on the day, but the midwife had said ‘oh no, your cervix isn’t favourable. You’ve got to shorten it and you’re not going to have your baby on your due date’.

“At 6pm that night I was having period-type pains, it wasn’t abnormal or anything that concerned me.

“I came downstairs at 3.45am. I was biting down on the sofa because I could feel this pain and genuinely thought it was a poo.”

The 22-year-old had been in pain and straining on the loo for around an hour before calling 999 and finding out she was giving birth.

“By this point, no waters had broken. Every time I pushed, I thought ‘I don’t know what that was’. I’d never had a baby…

“I rang 999 at 4.45am, it was not okay. I was biting down and scratching myself because I was in so much pain.

“My mum [Liesa Allcock, 45] had four C-sections so she’d never had a contraction either.

“I said to the ambulance woman ‘I’m not sure, this could be a poo. But I’m in a lot of pain’.”
The medical team arrived at 5.05am and found Billie on her bathroom floor with her worried mum, before little baby Arete arrived at 5.10am.
Billie said: “The woman ran up the stairs and said ‘if you give one push, the baby’s going to be here’. She gave me gas and air after I gave birth as my body was in shock, I was shaking.

“Because of how quickly I went into labour, my 💦 dn’t break. My body wasn’t prepared.

The Fearless Aisha Yesufu Drags CBN Governor For Refusing To Freeze The Bank Accounts Of Boko Haram And Bandits’ Promoters, Like EndSARS Promoters

Human Rights Activist and co-Convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, Aisha Yesufu, has taken a swipe at the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, asking him to use his “expert investigative knowledge” to track down the Leader of the Boko Haram terrorists, Abubakar Shekau, and the bandits who abducted Students of the Government Science Secondary School, in Kankara, Katsina State, like he did to the EndSARS promoters.

Aisha Yesufu, who was reacting to the recent abduction and release of the Schoolboys in Kankara, said that if the CBN Governor had employed the kind of expertise he did while tracking down and freezing the accounts of the EndSARS promoters, in trying to find out the source of funds coming in for the terrorists and bandits, he would have been seen to be doing a good job.

In a series of tweets she posted, Yesufu chided Emefiele for deploying his knowledge during the recent EndSARS protest, and blocking the Bank accounts of the promoters who were alleged to be fostering insecurity in the country, but chose to remain silent during the insecurity engendered by Shekau and the abductors in Katsina State.

Aisha said: “Where was Emiefele’s expert knowledge on terrorism, when were abducted? How come we did not hear Emefiele’s voice the way we did during protests? When will Emefiele call out Shekau for terrorism?”

Nigeria ranked 3rd most terrorized country in the world.

A new report released by the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) has ranked Nigeria, for the sixth consecutive year, as the third most terrorized country in the world.

The report which was released on Wednesday, November 25, ranked Afghanistan as the number one most terrorized country in the world, followed by Iraq. Syria, Somalia, and Yemen are ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.

Despite an overall decline in terrorism, Boko Haram, Nigeria’s deadliest terrorist group, recorded an increase in terrorist activity mainly targeted at civilians. Terror-related deaths and incidents attributed to Boko Haram in Nigeria increased by 25 and 30% respectively from the prior year.

According to the report, Nigeria witnessed her worst terrorist attack in 2019 in Borno State, where at least 70 people were killed and 10 others wounded when assailants attacked at a funeral.

“In 2019, Boko Haram carried out 11 su***de bombings causing 68 fatalities. Su***de bombings accounted for 6% of all terror-related incidents by Boko Haram in 2019, marking an 89% decline from their peak in 2017.

Boko Haram was responsible for Nigeria’s deadliest terrorist attack in 2019 when assailants attacked a funeral in Badu, Borno State.

At least 70 people were killed and 10 others were wounded in the attack and ensuing clash. The two main factions of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) and the followers of Abubakar Shekau, are both engaged in an insurgency campaign against the Nigerian government.

Nigeria, where continued attacks have internally displaced more than two million people and caused a further 240,000 Nigerian refugees to flee to neighbouring countries.

Daddy is sleeping, don’t shout – Emotional moment a little boy tells people not to cry at his father’s burial.

A little child created a gloomy atmosphere and made people even more emotional at his father’s burial after warning them not to make noise in order not to disturb his sleeping dad.

According to a social media post, the young boy who lost his dear dad and is just to young to understand what had happened to his father, thought he was just sleeping.

That was why he told family, friends, and colleagues weeping over his death by his burial ground, that they should keep calm in order not to wake him.

”Shhh… Daddy is sleeping”. This little boy during the burial of his dead father told the crowd to keep quiet else they will wake his Dad up. He got many people crying with this sad statement. Innocent him does not know that his dad is embarking on a journey of no return.. Very very sad world.” the post read.
