Mining magnate Gina Rinehart's company Hancock Prospecting has announced that it has entered into an agreement to potentially acquire the Great Keppel Island development project from Tower Holdings.

Some of their plans for the redeveloped resort include "a World class year round beach club, sandy bars, shopping and more experiences circling around a marina modelled after successful marinas like Puerto Banus".

Approvals from both the Livingstone Shire Council and the Queensland State Government would be necessary for the lease transfer and development to go ahead.

In June, the Minister for Resources, Scott Stewart rejected developer Altum Property Group's attempt to acquire the lease after an independent financial and managerial capability assesment by Deloitte determined that Altum did not have the financial capability to deliver the proposed development.

Hancock Prospecting says it "has the money to invest to help to make Queensland shine" ahead of the Brisbane Olympics in 2032.

Stuck for something to do during the school holidays, let your creative mind run free…..

Special Announcement - September school holidays CLASS calendar.
You may have noticed a lot of Kids & Teens class event notifications flooding your way this morning. We are very exciting to announce that our calendar is happily on it's way to being filled out and we start off with specialty sessions focused on getting the kids creative and messy these school holidays.
But don't worry, we have at least one ADULT class booked in for now and hopefully more soon as we get an understanding for the demand. Thank you so much to everyone who has been waiting along side up with encouragement and support. We can't wait to see you in store soon for a crafty session.

Everyone is welcome to our first club night - including new members! Bring your friends and family so they can learn what swim club is all about. There will be a free sausage sizzle for all swimmers and their families to enjoy - drinks can be purchased from the club.

Little Sharkies aged 7 & under will be in the inside pool with an instructor having fun and learning how to race.

Sharkies aged 8 & over will participate in a swimming clinic run by our swim coaches in the outdoor pool (weather permitting - if too cold we will run a dry land clinic)

Wednesday 6th of October
Arrive at 5:45pm for a 6pm start.
Free sausage sizzle
Bring togs, goggles, towels and warm clothes for afterwards

We will provide information for new members on how our club nights work, how to register and how to nominate in races on club nights.

REGISTRATIONS
We are so excited that Registrations are open for our 2021/2022 swim season via Swim Central. Last season saw the Club's highest participation rate of 90+ swimmers and we are hoping to beat that record this upcoming season.

It's been six months since our last club night so to refresh your memory: Yeppoon Sharks are based at the Yeppoon Aquatic Centre. Club night is every Wednesday from 5.45pm to 7.30pm and runs throughout Term 4 2021 and Term 1 2022. The best part is you don’t need to cook as there is always a BBQ dinner after racing. Membership is ability based – if you can confidently swim 25m unassisted – then we’d love to see you whether you are 5 or 105!

All registrations are done online via Swim central. Membership includes all affiliation fees, insurance, opportunities to compete at regional carnivals, pool entry every Club night and a Yeppoon Sharks Swimming Club Shirt. New members must register first and then purchase a membership or sign on as a 'come and try swimmer' for free. Click the following link for 'how to guides': https://qld.swimming.org.au/swim-central-resources-0

If you're an existing member, please renew your membership through Swim Central.

We welcome new members and will have an information session on Wednesday 8th of September from 5:30pm at Yeppoon Aquatic Centre where you can learn about our club and how to sign on. If you love racing, can confidently swim 25m unassisted - then we'd love to see you at swim club whether you're 5 or 105!

Alternatively, the link below will provide details for how to register. You can then sign on as a 'come and try swimmer' for free. https://support.swimming.org.au/hc/en-us/articles/360002101036-How-To-Register-With-Swim-Central

🏊💦DONT FORGET💦🏊

🦈Yeppoon Sharks Swimming Club are having their INFORMATION AND SIGN ON sessions this week. There will be two sessions one on the 1st and one on 8th September. These sessions will give you a chance to speak directly with committee members and ask any questions you may have. The sessions will run from 5.30pm-6.30pm.🦈

The club caters for all ages of swimmers starting from approximately 6 years of age, depending on ability. We are a swim club focused on racing and therefore all swimmers must be able to confidently swim 25m unassisted. Every Wednesday at the Yeppoon Aquatic Centre we see budding swimmers setting swim goals, improving their strokes, breaking PBs and having an absolute blast in the process.

So if you have a swimmer who would like to take part in swimming in a competitive, fun environment, head along to see the Sharkies on the 1st or 8th September.
