Medieval Prince to Pop Icon - Vlad Dracula 🧛♂️ Vlad Dracula, also known as Vlad the Impaler, was a ruler of Wallachia in the 15th century. He took the name Dracula meaning “son of dragon” when he was initiated into a secret order of Christian knights known as the Order of the Dragon. He was known for his brutal methods of punishment, including impaling his enemies alive on stakes. He used pikes with round ends to not damage the internal organs so the victim would stay alive longer. He invited 200 nobles that killed his father and older brother to dinner. During the dinner, he had the women and elderly stabbed to death or impaled, and forced the men into slave labour. Many of those workers died of exhaustion while building the Poenari castle for Vlad.Vlad III’s cruelty was real and his reputation spread through 15th-century Europe thanks to the printing press. Books written by his enemies became best sellers and centuries later those stories took a new life in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula.Vlad Dracula’s name and reputation were the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula, a vampire who would become one of the most iconic figures in literature and pop culture. But while Stoker’s Count Dracula is a bloodthirsty monster, the historical Vlad Dracula was a complex figure with a nuanced legacy.Vlad Dracula’s legacy is still debated today, but one thing is certain, his name will always be connected to the vampire legend. #short #trendingreels #dracula #horrormovies #vampire #vladtepes #vladtheimpaler #vladdracula #novel #art #movie #story #icon #pop #facts #of #history #dark #mehmedvsvlad #fatihsultanmehmet
Meet Alex the Parrot who was the only non-human animal to have ever asked a question! Alex was hatched on May 1976 in the UK, just like any other parrot in the city he ended up in a Petshop.Until Irene Pepperberg bought him when he was 1 year old, no one knew he and Irene’s work would change all the facts we know about birds and their intelligence. Alex had a vocabulary of 100 words and had an understanding of what he said. He could identify 50 different objects, quantities up to 6, and understood the concept of bigger", "smaller", "same", and “different”. Looking at a mirror, he said "what color", and learned the word "grey" after being told "grey" six times. This made him the first and only non-human animal to have ever asked a questionAlex’s intelligence was on a similar level to dolphins, great apes, and even 5-year-old humans in some respects. He corrected Irene and her assistant when they made mistakes during conversations.Alex died in September 2007, his last words to scientist Irene Pepperberg were "You be good. I love you." #love #pet #experiment #science #intelligence #instagood #beautiful #motivation #trending #facts #animals #nature #pets #of
