"When the leaves turn and the air gets crisp, it’s officially pumpkin season on Long Island! While many pumpkins end up as decor or livestock feed, some varieties like the Long Island cheese pumpkin, New England cheddar pumpkin, and sugar pie pumpkin are perfect for cooking. These gems can be transformed into a delicious puree—use it fresh or freeze it for later."

Our October Sponsor Spotlight is Wordwise Speech Therapy

"My business, Wordwise Speech Therapy, and our new early intervention offshoot, Bee Bright Therapy, are dedicated to providing top-tier speech therapy services to families who value quality and individualized care. I started these ventures because I believe that every child deserves the very best, and I wanted to create a space where families could access premium, research-based therapy that truly makes a difference. Our services are exclusive, and by design, appeal to the most discerning families without the need for prescriptions, referrals, or qualifications. We wanted to make sure families could easily access the highest quality care on their terms."

Sneak Peek at our October issue hitting 📬 soon!

"Joy Mangano, inventor, and People Magazine’s “Billion Dollar Mom,” whose story was brought to life in the 2015 movie Joy. The film revealed Joy’s humble beginnings as a single mother of three, her incredible journey through adversity, and her rise to build a successful enterprise. The movie ends with Joy seated at a desk in her newly acquired 40,000-square-foot fixer-upper, listening to a young mother pitch an invention—a symbol that her story of triumph continues.
Today, Joy is simply known as “Joy,” both in her neighborhood and around the world. This mononymous recognition speaks volumes about the way she lives her life—bravely, creatively, and always looking to solve problems others haven’t even thought of yet."

"With autumn approaching, fall yard cleanups will start to be on everyone’s minds. I’d like you all to consider cleaning up your diet and removing from your cupboards foods/ingredients that are simply too detrimental to your health. If you must use these ingredients, use them very rarely.
The number one ingredient people should look to remove from their diets is seed and vegetable oils. Seed oils are extracted from the seeds of various crops while vegetable oils are made from different vegetable sources, as the name suggests. Soybean, sunflower, canola (rapeseed), safflower, etc...all except olive oil, should be eliminated from our
diets. It is not a matter of whether they are organic or cold-pressed, it’s a matter of their nutritional makeup that is the factor."
