This week, Ravi chose "Brightburn" as his movie of the episode.

Brightburn is a 2019 American superhero horror film directed by David Yarovesky, written by Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn, and produced by James Gunn and Kenneth Huang. It stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner. It follows Brandon Breyer, a young boy of extraterrestrial origin reared on Earth who realizes he has superpowers. Upon learning of them and being brainwashed by the ship he arrived in, Brandon rejects his humanity and turns to evil, opting to terrorize his hometown, including his parents.

Shaolin Soccer is a Cantonese-language 2001 sports comedy film directed by Stephen Chow, who also stars in the lead role. A former Shaolin monk reunites his five brothers, years after their master's death, to apply their superhuman martial arts skills to play football and bring Shaolin kung fu to the masses.

Episode #04: "In the Mood For Love"

Sup! It's your resident book club for film nerds, pioneered by four of the very handsomest half-castes who absolutely know what they're talking about. This week, Benny chose "In the Mood for Love", a 2000 Hong Kong romantic drama film written, produced, and directed by Wong Kar-wai. Its original Chinese title means "Flowery Years". It tells the story of a man (played by Tony Leung) and a woman (Maggie Cheung) whose spouses have an affair together and who slowly develop feelings for each other.

The film's plot follows a group of aging Vietnam War veterans who return to the country in search of the remains of their fallen squad leader, as well as the treasure they buried while serving there. Welcome to the The Half Cast Movie Cast Podcast, the 4th most popular podcast by half casts about movies cast into a podcast, created in New Zealand over Zoom, where we study one film each fortnightly release and are all friends. At the end of each episode, we take turns recommending a movie to watch before next session - like a book club! But for nerds. (Film nerds.)

This week’s movie is “Super”, a 2010 American superhero black comedy film written and directed by James Gunn and starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Kevin Bacon and Nathan Fillion. It tells the story of Frank Darbo, a short-order cook who becomes a superhero without having any superhuman ability, calling himself the "Crimson Bolt". He sets out to rescue his wife Sarah from the hands of a drug dealer.
