Thank you http://www.nitestylez.de for the nice review :

Put out on the circuit via the Avantgarde-leaning label that is Akousis Records as their cat.no. 005 on December 4th, 2k23 is "Erosions Programmees" which sees Kasper T. Toeplitz' real time electronics and compositional efforts in combination with Bertrand Gauguet sonic contributions on saxophone. With the album presenting itself as a single stretch composition rolled out over a total playtime of roughly 47 minutes and the conceptual approach to work against, and probably dissolve, the innate monophony of the saxophone as an instrument the two artists embark on a journey into vastly uncharted territories, starting from a point of calm, quasi white noise Ambient swells reminiscent of small waves breaking ashore paired with a brittle underlying atmospheric foundation of oftentime gaseous qualities, presenting an undeniably ColdAmbient-informed approach before opening up into klaxon'esque large scale panoramic harmonies of droning, ever growing and thickening intensity, slowly moving towards comforting, yet space-time dissolving nothingness and a feeling of eternal floatation over a vantablack void of negative density which makes one easily forget that irl saxophone drones were invlvd in the production of this album. Highly recommended.

In composing Érosions programmés, Kasper T. Toeplitz wanted to go against the grain of the organology of the saxophone, which is monophonic by nature. By combining it with live electronics, he has made it extremely polyphonic, with a very dense and full polyphony. The different layers of textures thus obtained undergo microscopic deformations of the sound material, due as much to the instability of the breath as to that of the digital processing. The interaction between the saxophones and the electronics creates a blur between what is played and what is not, modifying pitches and textures and transforming the sound to the point where the memory of the instrument disappears. Les intermédiaires, the artwork chosen for the cover, was created in 2019 by French artist Marine Pagès.

Very nice review by Ed Pinsent about CYMBALE OUVERTE by Pascal Battus :

Closed Openings

Pascal Battus is the great French improviser whose work we’ve been enjoying since 2010, though he’s been active longer than that...one notable highlight was the Ichnites album where he played with the saxophonist Christine Sehnaoui Abdelnour, and there was also the time he teamed up with Dafne Vicente-Sandoval for two intense CDs of material.
I’ve always vaguely understood that Battus produced his distinctive noise by use of “rotating surfaces”, but until this day I didn’t fully appreciate it was a device which he’d built himself. It’s similar to a hurdy-gurdy, which uses a hand-cranked mechanism to produce its bizarre howls, but Battus has improved on this method by using an electric motor. On today’s album Cymbale Ouverte (AKOUSIS RECORDS AK003), he’s decided to apply it exclusively to the cymbal, thereby producing four long tracks, each one dedicated to exploring or showcasing a very particular sonic effect. “Always guided by improv spirit”, says the press, reminding us of the determination and ingenuity of this zesty fellow, and it’s as well that he’s done it as a solo turn this time; I think music of this power and intensity would simply crowd other players out of the venue, and it simply doesn’t lend itself to a collaborative situation. We can feel this force quite clearly on ‘Indécent Indéhiscent’, one of the more mesmerising and transformative drone pieces on the set, creating a series of extended metallic rings and reverberations so solid that you can almost taste copper in your mouth and feel the sting of ice rattling against the fillings in your teeth. While we can’t say that this track is “noise” as such, it certainly appeals to this particular fan who loves feedback, Hendrix at his most excessive, and heavy metal generally, satisfying my insane lust for blood; plus it delivers on that often hoped-for promise of creating a near-electronic sound by purely acoustic means (well, unless you’re going to quibble and include Battus’ motor).
To continue on that tack, there’s also ‘Etonnoir tôt’ – generally more restrained in tone than its brother, where Pascal explores a darker side of the cymbal and, with its evocative round shape and the extreme theatrical shadows under which he was (I hope) making the recording, we are not far apart from witnessing a grand solar eclipse in outer space, unfolding in slow motion. I mean to say that the cymbal is growing to equal the proportions of a planet, or moon, or other suitable celestial body, and doing so under the patient coaxes of our man’s motorised caresses. With ‘Etonnoir tôt’, Pascal Battus is revisiting those worn-out aspects of drone and ambient music and revitalising them on his own terms; not even Thomas Köner, with his brushed gongs, could generate such a remarkable effusion, and there’s a real clarity and sharp-edge to Battus’s tone that provides a delightfully stark atmosphere, leaving the listener no place to hide on the stark surface of this alien planet as we cast a shadow 30 feet long.
Benjamin Maumus did the recording, a detail from a Peter Soriano wall painting is used on the cover, and this is a splendid statement by this most singular of French improvising greats. From 11th March 2022, released by the label who brought us Contre-Courbes by Tilbury and Gauguet.

Super nice review by Inactuelles over blog !!!!

Nice review about MIROIR by Cyprien Busolini & Bertrand Gauguet

Nice review about MIROIR by Cyprien Busolini & Bertrand Gauguet in MusicMap (thank you Piergiuseppe Lippolis).

(Piergiuseppe Lippolis)

Nice review by Keith Prosk from Harmonic Series
about MIROIR by Cyprien Busolini & Bertrand Gauguet

True to titles the tracks are nearly reflections of each other, with similar durations, dynamics, pacing, sounding. Sounds as tender as a whisper, drawn out long like sighs. “Oscillation” is more breathy bowing and tremulous breath for beating effects, harsher harmonics in swells of stridulations, ebbing together in dynamic waves. And “Vacillation” is all unstable, its beatings infrequent, fleeting, but palpable and the two phase through dynamics though each remains sounding in the wings as if to cultivate beatings at a moment’s notice, an axial wobble aligning for magnetic textures.

Nice review by Laurent nerzic in R***e & Corrigée #133, sept. 2022 about
CYMBALE OUVERTE by PASCAL BATTUS

MIROIR reviewed by Baze Djunkiii

Released on September 5th, 2022 via the the still relatively fresh imprint Akousis Records as their cat.no. 004 is "Miroir", the first full length collaboration album cooked up by Cyprien Busolini and Bertrand Gauguet on their respective instruments, viola and alto saxophone which they usually explore in a context oftentimes referred to as 'new music'. Split in two extended pieces - "Oscillation" and "Vacillation" - which together span a little more than 53 minutes in total the two artists create ever meandering, tentative streams of music working their way up from droning minimalism and an ultimate Deep Listening Music approach to slowly emerging harmonic elements, breaking down to near silence and going through a similar, yet intensely stripped down, cycle once again within the first piece whereas the second extended cut immerses the listener even deeper in a full amalgamation of Minimal Music and abstract Contemporary Classical before evolving into a seductive song of sirens with temporary klaxon'esque peaks and well yearning, melancholia-infused movements which bring forward the most tender side of the duos conjunctional work. Defo one for undisturbed and focused ncoturnal consumption, this.
