I always hoped 'She Won't Come Calling' by Ernest Ernie & The Sincerities would find an audience with the Northern Soul crowd but 3+ years after its release, I'd kind of given up on it! This was the other side to 'My Eyes' and I believed in this track as much as the main side. Anyway, it now seems that this side is finally seeing some action in Northern Soul circles and as a result, many of the remaining copies in the UK have dried up in recent weeks. The good news if you are looking for a copy is that we still have a limited supply of stock copies available to members of this group for $45, including postage and shipping to the UK/Europe. Here's a little gem of a 45 we released back in 2005. The song was a major hit for The Chilites in 1972 but most were unaware that this much covered classic song was written and originally recorded by their New York based Brunswick label mate Tony Drake (aka Samuel Garner). We inked the licensing deal over a couple of beers and burgers at the Sheraton Hotel in midtown Manhattan and it became the second release on our fledgling label. The flip 'Hey World' is another self-penned composition that was first made popular by Gwen McCrae on her 1982 LP 'On My Way' that included 'Keep The Fire Burning'.

Amazingly this fabulous two-sider never sold out on release but it continued to sell steadily over the years and there now seem to be fewer and fewer copies around. If you don't yet have this in your collection, the good news is that we've just found an unopened box and have limited copies available at $15 (+postage).

We'd just like to thank everyone for their support so far of our latest release, 'I've Got What You Need' by Smokie Norful, together with 'I Choose You' by Lexi feat. Gene Moore. Two sides of the most incredible gospel soul you could wish for on what is undoubtedly one of the best 45's of the year so far. We always knew that UK soul and gospel music fans would be scrambling to pick this record up on import as soon as it was released but we want to make sure that collectors on this side of the pond don't miss out either. We'd like to thank our friends at Dusty Groove in Chicago for their fantastic support of our little label (showing as 'sold out' on their website but they'll have more copies soon!) as well as Simon and the crew at my favorite New York City record store A1 Records, which is also stocking the record. So we finally made it over the line!

Gene Moore) also included, this has quite rightly been described as 'the most eagerly anticipated soul 45 of the year'. UPDATE: IT'S SOUL TIME RECORDS 45 - SMOKIE NORFUL 'I'VE GOT WHAT YOU NEED'

Thank you for being so patient, and if it seems as though we have been working forever on getting this release out, then it's because we have! We are doing everything possible to make the record available as soon as we can because we know it is one of the most hotly anticipated soul 45's of the year. We've signed off on the demos, yes they are wonderful, and release copies are in production as we speak. Like many things over the past year, it has got held up by COVID related delays. The other factor has been that the pressing plants are backed up due to the resurgence in demand for vinyl records. Now demand for new vinyl is a good thing of course but it likely means that little guys like us get moved to the back of the line when one of the big guys comes calling! So the very latest update we have for you is that the final product will be available for you by the end of next month, at the latest! I've got one more thing to share with you. A few of you will be aware of this, but most of you won't, so I'm thrilled to let you now that the second track on the 45 will be another amazing, incredibly soulful cut that has been licensed from Motown's Gospel Catalogue. 'I Choose You' by Lexi feat. Gene Moore was released to critical acclaim in 2018 as part of her outstanding 'Just Listen' set. I can't tell you how proud and excited we are to be able to being you these two incredible cuts on a single 45. It's been a long time coming I know, but I hope you think it's worth it!

This isn't the recording that is on the record (same backing track) but a live and very soulful performance featuring the master songwriter Richard Poindexter, who wrote the song for the late, great Linda Jones. This was also our very first release on It's Soul Time Records back in 2004. I mention this because there seems to be some interest in this again, started selling a few copies on Discogs when for years we had none! There are likely still some copies back in the UK but if anyone who wants a copy has trouble in tracking one down, please get in contact.

It's taken some work but it's finally all been worth it as we are absolutely thrilled to announce that 'I've Got What You Need' by two-time Grammy winner Smokie Norful will soon be available for the very first time as a limited edition 45 on New York based label, It's Soul Time Records. This modern soul gem is taken from his 2014 Motown release , 'Forever Yours', and has become a firm favorite with soul and gospel fans throughout the United States and around the world. It has grown to be especially popular in the UK where it has become an anthem in modern soul rooms up and down the country. This will undoubtedly be one of the most highly anticpated single releases of the year but it gets even better! We'll share information on the other side to 'I've Got What You Need' in a few days, but for now will just tell you that it is another slice of incredible gospel soul also courtesy of Motown Gospel. More details to follow. Expected March 2021.

So we can officially share news on one of two new vinyl releases on It's Soul Time Records!

TOM WARDLE - 'I COULD HAVE BEEN A MILLIONAIRE'

This one is something of a departure from our normal format as it doesn't fit the usual definition of a soul record. Some people call it blue-eyed soul, yacht rock or whatever. I just prefer to call it soulful feel good music and a great record that defies categorization. The song was recorded in London and Los Angeles though New York based singer-songwriter Tom Wardle is originally from Nottingham in England. This laid back California groover conjures up echoes of artists such as Robert Palmer and the eighties pop-soul of groups such as The Blow Monkeys. The arrangement on the song is courtesy of Chris Difford, founding member and songwriter for the legendary UK group, Squeeze. Prefab Sprout member and famed UK drummer Neil Conti also appears on the record. He has worked with the likes of David Bowie, Level 42, Steve Winwood, Annie Lennox, Cher, Robert Palmer to name just a few. So we are talking about some serious talent coming together for this performance!

With so many of our favorite brick and morter record stores across the US still being closed due to the pandemic, it's an incredibly challenging time to for vinyl releases and the record stores themsleves. I'd personally like to thank Doug Arnold and everybody at Dusty Groove in Chicago for their continued support. More physical locations will be added as they slowly begin to emerge from the lockdown!
