***𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄***

In October 2023, MCSO deputies completed a report regarding allegations of sexual abuse of a child occurring at a daycare facility located in the Nixon Chapel community. The daycare was run out of a home and the listed offender in the case was described as being a relative of the daycare owner who resides in the home.

After completing the investigation, Marshall County District Attorney’s Office and MCSO investigators presented the case to a Marshall County Grand Jury in November 2024.

On January 6th, 2025, patrol deputies arrested Kevin Dewayne Franklin, 50, of Horton for the offenses of "So**my 1st Degree" and "Sexual Abuse of a Child Less than 12". He is currently being held without bond at the Marshall County jail pending an Aniah's Law hearing.

The daycare facility has since closed.

Dangerously cold temperatures are expected this week, with wind chill values as low as 15 degrees.

Please remember the Three P’s:
1. Pets: Bring pets indoors to keep them safe.
2. Pipes: Insulate pipes or leave faucets dripping to prevent freezing.
3. People: Check on neighbors, especially the elderly and those with special needs.

If you use alternative heat sources, follow all safety precautions to avoid fire hazards or carbon monoxide poisoning.

Several warming centers are available in the area to provide shelter during these extreme conditions.
