File this under "Things I don't see everyday. Thank you Vegas"
After some nostalgic bingo fun, the lovely took me to Fremont Street, which was absolutely wild! (I also don't think I've seen that many people on a single street since I was in Dotonburi in Osaka at night time.)
There were performer circles every few feet and this acrobat guy had built a "ladder" out of stacked cups and some sort of plexiglass or glass... Not sure. But then he did some cool handstand moves at the top of it, which had to have been about 6+ feet in the air.
It was pretty neat.

What are some ways that you try to do your part to help save the earth?
In our house we compost and recycle and try to minimize what we buy pre-packaged.
We also try to avoid driving and instead walk and take transit around the city.
My favorite thing to do though is to grow my own vegetables. I don't know if we will get to do that this year since we are in an apartment without a balcony, but I'm on the wait-list for a garden spot ❤️

Nobody quite knows where the day originated from, or even the definitive place the ice cream sandwich itself started. There are pictures from 1900 of people eating them after paying nothing more than a penny!

So you think you're ready to hire a web designer. But are you really?
Here are 3 things you should make sure to do before hiring a web designer.
⚡️Know your Goals⚡️
A Website is just one small part of your overall Marketing strategy. But more often than not, it is treated as its own thing by many small and online businesses. In order to be able to create an effective website that drives the results you want to see, you need to know how your site fits into your overall marketing goals and how you expect your website to contribute to reaching those goals (and if you're not sure on these, DM me to find out more about my Marketing Strategy sessions and how I partner with your business as a Director of Marketing)
⚡️Have Copy Ready⚡️
Most web designers are not also copywriters. Some are, but copywriting is not typically a part of a web design or development package. Some Web Designers will partner with Copywriters to provide the whole she-bang (this is something I do), but if yours doesn't, you will want to be sure to have your copy early on in the process so that the copy can inform the design. This will give you the most bang for your buck.
⚡️Have Professional Images Ready⚡️
Web Designers are not typically photographers, and while they can usually source stock images for your site for a fee, your business is best served using brand images that portray your company in the best way possible. Whether that ends up being product photography or professional headshots and images of past work, you want to be sure that you are able to provide high quality, professional looking images for your new website.

Today is the first day of Pride Month!
Did you know that this years PRIDE is the 51st year of celebrating the contributions and impacts that the community has had locally, nationally and internationally.
So why is June 🏳️🌈
On June 28, 1969, when police raided a gay club called the Stonewall Inn in New York. Though the police claimed the bar was operating with an improper liquor license, the raid was about nothing more than violently harassing and arresting LGBTQ people in one of the few places where they felt safe. Similar raids on gay-friendly businesses had been occurring for decades, but Stonewall was one of the first times when the patrons fought back. A diverse crowd of le****ns, gay men and transgender women, many of whom were people of color, clashed with the police, threw bottles and refused to be intimidated. The six-day period of protests and demonstrations is now known as the Stonewall Riots. A New York rally held the next year to commemorate the first anniversary of the riots started the now-regular tradition of Pride Month.

One of the big reasons I decided to start my own business was that when I finished up my marketing degree, companies that I looked into often did not align with my own values, belief, and integrity.
I believe in lifting up people and communities around us and celebrating our differences as much as celebrating the things we have in common.
This month is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. And while it is not my heritage, Asian American influence has been very prevalent in my life and is important to me. So I wanted to highlight a couple of local organizations that I hold dear to me.

Recently there's been talk around whether Domain Authority is a metric you want to stay on top of and whether or not it matters for SEO.
The short answer is no, it doesn't effect your SEO ranking. However, there's a bit more to it than just that.
🧐First of all, Domain Authority (DA) is a metric that was created by Moz to help estimate where your page *might* rank in a SERP (Search Engine Results Page).
The DA is determined by looking at the quantity and quality of your backlinks.
💥But it's been confirmed that DA isn't taken into account in Google's SEO rankings.💥
Whether or not you need to work on your DA depends largely on your industry. While it may not be taken into account for SEO, and is a vanity metric a'la follower count, there are some brands that do look for certain domain authority numbers for partnering with influencers and content creators despite the DA not having any actual bearings on other metrics like page views and time spent on your site. 😵💫

💥Does your marketing serve your business?💥
This might be one of the most important questions you can ask yourself as a business owner.
Sure you've got your Facebook posts, your IG reel, your tiktok video... Even your pinterest pin.
But are they doing you any good?

Honestly, they might be to some extent. But if you really want to leverage organic, or even paid marketing
YOU 👏 HAVE 👏 TO 👏 HAVE 👏 STRATEGY
If you don't you're going to leave your audience and customers confused rather than wanting more.
And if truth be told, you need to look at your marketing plans as a whole. Don't just compartmentalize IG over here and FB over there. Continuity between your platforms is what helps create a strong brand messaging and solid following.

How do you keep track of what's going on your business?
I used to be THE QUEEN of sticky notes. I had piles of them. (Of course I did... There was ample supply in the office supply door that was always magically refilled)
But when now I've had to ban myself from sticky notes, because honestly, I write something down on them and then they go missing somewhere in my house.
They did this back when I was in the office too, but usually it was just misplaced in my cubicle vs. my toddler snatching something and taking it to another room 🤣
So now I take notes in my phone and on ClickUp. And honestly, it's so important to be able to just brain dump somewhere that you can come back to later.
Sticky notes will always have a soft spot in my heart ❤️ but in terms of organization, digital notes have been revolutionary.

I really enjoy this quote. It's applicable in so many situations, but especially in online business.
Too often we get caught up in what others around us are doing (🙋♀️guilty of this) and it can totally derail our own efforts.
While it important to know what is happening in your market, and knowing what your competitors are doing, it's just as important to not get caught up in what they are doing.
Remember, YOU are what makes your business unique. There's no use in worrying over what everyone else is doing if it drowns out your voice.
Allow yourself and your business to bloom on your terms!

This is a message that has been coming at me from all sides lately and it's honestly had me thinking A LOT and quite frankly is really profound.
And it makes sense. While it is for sure important to live in the here and the now, without looking to the future and taking active steps to move you in your journey to get where you want to be, then all you will ever be is stuck in your here and now.
You must take real, measurable steps and take action now and do things now that future you would do.
I'd love to know what things you are doing now that either future you would do, or that creates a momentum to propels you towards being future you. ❤️

Happy First Contact Day!
While I am not as big of a Star Trek fan as my husband given I haven't devoted as much time to watching Star Trek when I do I am always amazed at how ahead of its time it was (talking original Star Trek here since that's all I've ever really seen, with a few episodes of The Next Generation speckled in there)
While not perfect by any means, how they addressed so many social injustices is often something to look at and work towards.
Star Trek, while fictional, has always been a show that I've looked at as a signal of hope when I feel like the future looks bleak. So here's to Star Trek First Contact Day!
