Los Angeles born-and-bred artist Stephen Disario is the next featured artist on Synthetik Sounds, with his “Rooted In Reality” 4-track EP scheduled for August 14th release

Stephen Disario has placed himself at the forefront of Los Angeles’s techno community with his signature style of moody, driving techno. Whether in the studio or behind the decks his sound is distinct, and his passion rings clear in his music.

Stephen has also offered huge contributions to the Los Angeles scene by organizing events under the Cognition brand, which he co-founded in 2017, and through his involvement with H2Audio, a premier LA based sound company. He had his breakthrough year in 2020 with his track "Rave" gaining support from Amelie Lens, Pan Pot, and many others.

Stephen continued to break the mold in 2021 with the release of "Pulse" which was constant rotation and found its way into Chris Liebing’s AM/FM podcast. You can catch Stephen playing at sweaty warehouses small and large as well as notable events like ADE, Boiler Room, CRSSD, and others.

Synthetik Sounds is back for its second installment after debuting on the scene in May 2022 with Ecilo’s Protech The Skyline EP

With Ecilo at the A&R helm, as well as two of Los Angeles’s most revered underground brands, 6AM and Synthetik Minds, spearheading its mission, Synthetik Sounds is now an establisahed home for techno artists whose sound remains true to the ethos of underground techno.

Protech The Skyline affirmed the label’s intention of acting as a platform for artists whose output leans both on deep, hypnotic techno as well as darker, and harder shades of the genre. This second EP, entitled Rooted In Reality and courtesy of Los Angeles artist Stephen Disario, further cements Synthetik Sounds’ other goal of building bridges between North America, Europe, Asia and beyond.

The title track opens affairs as a carefully-crafted minimalistic groover, building in intensity ever-so-slightly as layers of percussion build on top of each other. Next up, “Time” takes off where “Rooted In Reality” left off, continuing its progression until it reaches peak-time rhythm as spatial, trippy soundscapes kick in. Here, Disario brings listeners down to earth in brilliant fashion, giving a few seconds of respite before kicking the track into overdrive once more.

The EP continues with the aptly named “6AM,” a track inspired by the late night or early morning hours, depending on which way you decide to look at it. Picture yourself in a packed, jacking and dark warehouse, as the first beams of sunlight begin seeping in through the cracks, and then imagine the perfect track to soundtrack those moments: that’s “6AM” for you, inspired by the countless Los Angeles warehouse moments Stephen Disario has shared with ravers in his years as a track selector and event curator.

Closing off the four-tracker is the high-intensity delivery that is “Blinker Situation.” A crescendo of percussion and an underlying subtle siren build anxiety and anticipation before diving down a rabbit hole of hypnotic, mental modulations.

Get to know Ecilo, the artist behind Synthetik Sounds A&R curation and the label’s first outing “Protech The Skyline” — out this Friday April 22nd!

“Venturing into the world of electronic music in 2008, Reza Putra Ananda has been reborn as Ecilo through his love for the industrial beats of Techno.

His experience in the industry comes from years of refining his sound and honing his technique, with influences ranging from expressive African-American Music (Jazz, Soul, Blues) and the atmospheric resonances of Sci-Fi soundtracks. Always experimenting with different sounds has shaped Ecilo to become a producer who is genre-fluid yet strongly rooted in his foundations for proper Techno.

Though slightly considered the underdog of genres in Indonesia, Ecilo’s consistency in providing solid proper Techno DJ sets and live performances has reinvigorated the genre and even inspired more and more passionate players into the field. With releases on international labels such as ARTS (Berlin), We Are The Brave (UK),Planet Rhythm (The Netherlands) and Jeff Mills Label Axis Records (USA), Ecilo has strengthened both his reputation and his percussive 4x4 beats to resonate all over the globe. Known for top-notch originality and craftsmanship, his tunes have earned airtime through the sets of giants such as Ben Sims, Alan Fitzpatrick, Jeff Mills, Mark Farina and Dave Clark.

Though his achievements may be many, this doesn’t stop Ecilo from constantly evolving and perfecting his sound. His hard work and perseverance has also led him to reach the #2 spot on Beatport’s Techno DJ Chart. With many more representations and contributions to Jakarta Techno, Ecilo has become a signature household name for music lovers and partygoers. This is proven by his anointment as music Director and Resident DJ at the famed Kilo Lounge Jakarta (part of Singapore-based Kilo Collective), where he has hosted many social events alongside numerous local and international talents.
