Today I am reminded of how lucky I am to have been raised by such an incredible man. From FaceTiming every single day, grabbing dinner, and having conversations about everything, from politics to pop culture. Dad wasn’t always in town but he always made sure to be present in our lives. I am grateful for the time I spent with him. As many of you know, Uncle Peter raised me from the time I was 6 years old. I would come to him for any and everything, keeping him on the phone for hours... that’s how I got my nickname, habla. That is one of the many things we have in common. We both loved to talk. So, I will carry on your legacy and talk everyone’s ears off, keeping them smiling and laughing, just as you did me.
I’m grateful for all the music and beautiful memories I get to share with your grandson, Elijah Daniel. Not only will he know your music, but he will know of the incredible father and man you were. You were so excited to meet him and it makes me so sad he arrived a week after you past. I’m trying to stay positive and grateful, our family lost two incredible men in 2 years but God gifted us with two beautiful baby boys in return. You always told us to watch you come in the kitchen and watch you cook. I wish I listened because banana porridge sounds amazing on this Sunday morning.
Grief isn’t linear, some days are harder than others. I’m just grateful I had so many years of memories to look back on.
Missing you endlessly ❤️
