Six months ago, almost to the day, I posted to say that the Steel TRAM project was going to have to be placed on hold. Life events were 'getting in the way'.

It is with great sadness that it is now going to have to go on hold indefinitely. Things have become more challenging rather than less so and my involvement on the music scene generally is going to be restricted to attending the occasional gig for the foreseeable future.

I am gutted not to be able to see this through as there were several undiscovered acts that I had spoken to and was so looking forward to have them as part of the STR label. I had also been afforded the opportunity to work with an original NWOBHM band and one of my heroes from the 80s AOR scene, who I saw supporting Meatloaf and UFO back in the day, on his most recent projects.

I guess it is a case of 'never say never', but with a heavy heart STR is not going to be happening any time soon. Apologies and every success to everyone that I spoke to about it.

FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR A LITTLE WHILE:

This is a post I have been hoping that I wouldn't have to put out, but the way circumstances have conspired against us, it has become unavoidable.

The Steel TRAM Records project has got to be put back on hold for a while.

The situation with my mother being classified as 'end of life care' has meant I need to grasp the opportunity to spend as much time with her as I can. Couple this with my frequently working 14 hour shifts as a Support Worker for adults with profound learning disabilities means that the time to dedicate to STR is not enough to do it justice. My consultant and strategist, Mike, is also stretched to breaking point with his day job team quitting one behind the other, meaning he is currently doing the job of four people and trying to recruit replacements.

I want to emphasise that Steel TRAM Records is 100% going to happen as soon as we can. We are both committed to making it do so and absolutely will!!

I am so excited by the artists and their representatives that I have spoken to, from Cornwall via Wales up to Yorkshire then back down to London, Essex and Kent and some from outside the UK as well. An assortment of brand new bands and those that have been doing the business for many years. We do understand that once we are in a position to drive the TRAM forward in a few weeks/months time, some of you may well have found another label. If that is the case we wish you every success with them. For those that would still like to join us on the ride, it will be great to talk to you more in the not too distant future.

Given what I have posted above, I will be cancelling tonight's virtual meeting. All will go quiet on the Steel TRAM Records page until we make the announcement that we are in a position to push forward with it again - hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. Until then, keep up the good work - I will be listening to the music that you are putting out there every opportunity that I can.

Many thanks to those of you that have expressed an interest in this start-up 'totally rock and metal' record label.

I am planning to start a crowdfunder with different subscription levels in the next few days. Once that is up and running, the next step will be to set up a zoom meeting for anyone interested in being a part of STR, outlining the plans moving forward. Feel free to join the meeting without any obligations. On the other side of the coin, you can still be part of the journey if you are unable to be on the meeting.

The project is on hold for now. Too much going on to be able to commit to it at the moment. Will update when life circumstances are more settled.

Without yet really pushing to get people onboard for this next year, we already have 33 people following.
We will obviously be looking for artists to showcase, both via live performances and distribution of their music in 2023.
If that sounds appealing, please do drop me a message and we can arrange a face to face chat once the festive season is over.
