Throwback to last year's Duck opener. A lot of people don't understand our lottery system because they've never had to participate in something like this. I enjoy it because it brings a lot of hunters together in one place, where you get to talk to others and see what everyone else is trying to do and just meet other hunters. We don't really have the social element to hunting these days like hunt camps and etc., at least not to the extent of what they had long ago. I don't even mind the process if you don't get picked. Yea it kinda sucks when you don't get the blind you want or at all. That's why you have a backup plan, which you always should have anyway. Nobody said it would be easy, just that it would be worth it. Sometimes it's a s**t show and sometimes it makes for great memories.

This spread is from my first hunt over v-boards. Gotta tell you, this was probably the fastest limit goose hunt I was ever a part of, and all we used was v-boards and a few remote controlled flapper Canada's. Makes me think much of this decoy business is to please ourselves.

Got a new camera (Sony zv-e10) and did a little testing with it tonight. I need some practice with it, as it's more capable than I am, but it takes amazing pics and videos. I was surprised to see next to no Canada's and only a few ducks while out though. Apparently they were all at my daughter's school. πŸ˜†

Congratulations to my buddy Al Dager on this beautiful Turkey he got this morning. It came in at 23lbs and had an 11" beard. What an absolutely beautiful bird! Al was a very successful guide for many years and is enjoying his retirement. He's been an Avery pro-staff since 2007, won many call competitions and is one of our local legends. Here he is still getting it done. 🍻
