HEY HEY
CASTING OPPORTUNITIES
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Casting "Flirtologist," a drama. Screenwriter and co-director Madeline O'Leary is a software developer, co-director Alexandre Charriere has worked in various cinema roles, notably as director and editor, in the United States and France for the past 10 years. Log line: A teenage girl on a contentious family camping trip attempts to amuse herself with a handsome stranger. She must learn, however, that her budding sexuality is treacherous, and the war between the sexes eternal.

Roles in this project
Collapse All Roles
ACTORS & PERFORMERS
Reese
Lead. Female. 14-19
Early bloomer. Intelligent and self-possessed, but as a defense mechanism. The kids at school accuse her of promiscuity. Her father and brother constantly undermine her, encroach on her personal space, leave her little room for self-hood. Despite this, she doesn’t see herself as a victim: her instinct is to steel herself and get mad, not mope. She is awakening to the power of her physical appearance, but does not yet understand how this power can be manipulated and wielded against her. Trigger warning: she suffers assault in the script.
Ethnicity: White / European Descent
Required Media: Headshot/Photo, Video Reel
Apply
Isaac
Supporting. Male. 19-30
The older love interest of Reese, the lead. Handsome, and knows it. He is ready and willing to indulge Reese, but he is also aware of the threat that she poses as an underage girl. He walks a knife's-edge between titillating her (and himself), while protecting her (and himself), ignorant of how such an unsustainable struggle may actually just weaken his resolve, the power dynamic between them more ambiguous than he assumes.
Ethnicity: Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial, Latino / Hispanic, Middle Eastern, White / European Descent
Required Media: Headshot/Photo
Apply
Teddy
Supporting. Male. 16-23
The older brother of Reese, the lead. He is physically underdeveloped. This is in contrast to Reese's advanced development (for her age). They've got a rivalrous dynamic that's underscored by these physical differences. Contempt, is what he feels for his sister. He also fears her. In the script, he has braces, and a tick associated with his braces: he's always plucking the rubber bands.
Ethnicity: Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial, White / European Descent
Required Media: Headshot/Photo
Apply
Walt
Supporting. Male. 40-55
The father of Reese, the lead. Classic, short-fused dad, divorced from Reese and Teddy's mother and sour about it, struggling to keep his kids entertained and in-line on a precarious camping trip. He's stricter with Reese than with Teddy, the subtext being that he understands his daughter's physical appearance and wants to protect her, in Freudian fashion. This strictness and protective instinct often code as outright animosity.
Ethnicity: Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial, White / European Descent
Required Media: Headshot/Photo
Apply
Creepy man
Supporting. Male. 40-60
This character shares an awkward and exhibitionist moment with Reese, the lead, then later assaults her. It's not r**e, but there is violence involved. Paradoxically, he is fully aware of her youth and immaturity, and uses it to hurt her.
Ethnicity: Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial, White / European Descent
Required Media: Headshot/Photo
Apply
Dates & Locations
Rehearses TBD; shoots summer or early fall in Missouri.

Compensation & Contract
Creepy man: Supporting
Rate: $150.00 - $300.00 / day
Total Pay: $1,200.00 - $2,400.00 for an estimated 8 days of work
All other roles:
Rate: $150.00 - $300.00 / day
