What Is Gelotophobia?

Gelotophobia is also known as a fear of laughter or being laughed at. Since Gelotophobia is a relatively new concept, Gelotophobes may have received other diagnoses such as ‘specific’ phobias or general social anxiety disorder.

A person suffering from Gelotophobia may hear a stranger’s laugh and believe it is aimed at him or her. They have a fear of being ridiculed and unfortunately often cannot distinguish playful teasing from ridicule. Gelotophobes either do not understand what laughter is, or they think it is directed at them in a negative, malicious way and feel scared when they hear it.

Job falls to the ground and worships God during a stormy season of life. His surrender is a witness to all of us. It is crucial to praise God during our struggles because we begin to see miracles and blessings. There are too many occurrences to count and we remain blind to the numerous wonders of God when we remain focused on our problem and not our Creator. We will continue to offer praise and worship through good times and bad.

Dear Lord, we will never cease in worship. We praise Your name for the mercy You bestow upon us and we are grateful for Your infinite blessings.

God performs countless miracles and fills our lives with infinite blessings! We often become distracted by daily activities or problems and begin to complain. Sometimes we even think God may not be concerned with our daily struggles. We can not see or understand all the marvelous provisions God has arranged. Scripture tells us God has performed countless wonders! We will take a closer look at our lives and thank Him for making us His number one priority.

Dear Lord, we are amazed by the blessings You have bestowed upon us. We know You are always present and active in our lives. Thank you for Your undying love and commitment.

The earth was without form; empty, and void when God initiated creation. From nothing, He created something. He breathed to life all the beauty around us. We have a limited understanding of how this happened; we only know God is all-powerful, and with Him, everything is possible. Job had multiple hardships all at one. Although he was overwhelmed, He knew God had the power to provide refuge and strength. We revere the power of God and remain hopeful in His plan for our lives.

Dear Lord, we respect Your power and remain hopeful in Your plans for our life. Thank you for lifting our spirits when we face multiple hardships at once.

Ex-Satanist John Ramirez warns Christian parents of the dangers of celebrating Halloween. “It’s like having a one night stand with the devil. There's a quote by Anton Lavey, founder of the Church of Satan, where he says in his own words, 'I want to thank every Christian parent for allowing their children to celebrate the devil one night out of the year,' which is Halloween. He's intentionally thanking Christian parents. Thank you for dressing up your kids, changing their identity, sacrificing spiritually."

He likened the practice to having a "one night stand", saying: "We go celebrate Halloween; we're in bed with the devil for one night. To me, it's like, why would you want to cheat on Jesus? Jesus doesn't cheat on you. I don't see the satanists coming to your church to cheat on the devil. No way!"

John Ramirez was once one of the highest ranking warlocks in the world, until Jesus saved his life. His friends called him “Lucifer’s Son” because Satan himself would visit him regularly in his bedroom to talk about strategies for destroying people’s lives. One night John had a near-death experience where he found himself in hell, but Jesus showed up himself and gave him one last chance to come to Christ. John took that chance and never looked back.

Ramirez came back from that near-death experience and destroyed $100,000 worth of satanic paraphernalia in his New York home, and was then "tormented for 30 days” by his past demons. But it didn’t stop him from living his new life for Christ. Today he is a Pastor, evangelist, and best-selling Christian author, and he warns the church of the dangers and realities of spiritual warfare.

"The only harvest we should celebrate is the harvest of souls," Ramirez said. “Jesus Christ is your answer. It's a relationship with God. Make peace with God...Pray. Prayer works. The power of Satan is limited. It's a hoax. And the power of Jesus is limitless and it brings you to a place of knowing your purpose and destiny of who you really are created to be."

A consuming fire is one that completely or utterly destroys, so why would a loving God also be called a consuming fire? It is a challenging question, but we must understand that God is holy – so holy that the unrighteous cannot be in his presence. This consuming fire destroys anything unholy. Those with sin are unable to approach God. It is only through his son, Jesus Christ, that we find forgiveness and salvation. Through his mercy, we are able to stand reverently before Him.

Dear God, You are a consuming fire. You are holy, O Lord. We know sin is an offense to You. Forgive us of our sins, Father. Thank You for Your mercy and for sending Your son, Jesus Christ, so that we may approach You with reverence and awe. You are amazing and we are undeserving of Your attention, but You are good to show us favor. May I always remember Your power and worship You with humility.

Lord, I am not always strong. In fact, I rarely am. I often rely too much on my own strength and not Yours. Help me to rely on You and not myself. Help me rely on Your strength. You are a good God and You are merciful. You see the weak, and You make them strong. Thank You for caring for the weak. Please care for me when I am wavering. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God is strong for the weak. He increases our strength when we need it. Many believers throughout history accomplished great things for God, and they will tell you it was only through the Lord's strength they did. God is our strength. When you feel weak, when you feel like you can't go on, when you don't think you can take another step, pray and ask God for His strength. Lean on Him.
