Cute spaces make me happy.

How fine I plan on being this summer, once all of this blows over!☺️

04/04/2020

I just want a reason to wear a gown again!😍

I’m convinced that I’m going to turn into a crazy plant lady. If anyone would like to join me, quarantine is a great time to learn how to care for a new plant.🌿

Less perfection. More authenticity.🤞🏾

March was honestly a long year!🥴 Started the month feeling low and uninspired, ending it feeling the complete opposite.🤎 (Peep my little friend.)

Are you hungry? Because I’m serving FACE!✨

I’ve been eyeing half wigs for the longest so I finally decided to go for it. Getting my natural hair to cooperate has been a challenge.🙃 I had to dye my hair black TWICE because the first time around, the color didn’t take. For the past two weeks, I’ve kind of just been winging it and styling the wig without the proper leave out.🙃 This is the first time, since going natural, that I’ve applied heat to my hair. Of course, that came with its own struggles. After finally being able to style the wig correctly, I love the natural look and can’t wait to try more half wigs.

The entire month of March has been tough for me. I haven’t felt compelled to do much of anything. Slowly but surely getting myself out of this rut by reminding myself that my life has a purpose!🤎

14/03/2020

If I EVER get the chance to wear something like this, I’m taking it. When art meets fashion.✨

13/03/2020

You just got served.🎾

I think it’s important to find activities that you enjoy that benefit you and don’t require you to spend a ton of money. I’m always looking for a partner!

Happy !👗 Initially, I was offended when I saw that this holiday was labeled as “weird” online. Then, I realized that it’s really only a QUEEN thing, most people wouldn’t understand.

This is the first gown that I purchased with my own money. This is also the first gown that I purchased solely for a pageant. Up until this point, I would wear my old prom dresses or simply borrow gowns from friends. It’s safe to say that I made the right choice, walked away as the 2018-2019 Claflin University Miss NAACP.👑

I highly recommend a yellow gown. Pageants, birthdays, prom, gala— whatever the event may be, the right yellow gown will ensure that you stand out every time.✨

I understand that we live in a time of instantaneous gratification but some dreams take a little longer to unfold. Keep praying. Keep grinding. It’ll all be worth it in the end.🤎

Kim K recently rocked these Balmain latex suits at Paris Fashion Week. Personally, I love them!🤩 Do you approve and/or could you see yourself pulling off this look?

1 John 5:14 - “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.” Friends, our prayers are lacking confidence. Why are we even praying if we don’t think he hears us? Don’t just pray because it seems like the right thing to do, but pray because in your heart you are confident that God hears your prayers and that your requests have already been answered.

Who is Makaila Elle?

I can humbly say that my upbringing taught me that life isn’t about how you start, but what you do with what you have. I was once rough around the edges, a small town girl raised around others who settled for mediocrity, a prime example of my environment. Luckily, I was full of AMBITION and had a desire to be greater than my circumstances.

Today, I am a proud HBCU graduate and advocate. I received my B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Education from Claflin University. My tenure at Claflin University transformed my life in more ways than one and my Claflin Confidence fuels me to chase my dreams. Towards the end of my junior year, I realized that my heart wasn’t in Psychology. Refusing to settle, I am currently in the process of applying to graduate schools to pursue my master’s in communications for a rewarding career in media. Additionally, I have several other passions and career goals that I hope to share as they come into fruition.

In my free time, I enjoy DIY projects, reading, thrifting, interior design, caring for my plants, and pageantry. While at Claflin, I was fortunate to have been awarded the following titles; Miss Delta Alpha, Miss Claflin Men 100, and Miss NAACP, and Miss Florence County (Miss Black SC International). I aspire to one day earn a national title so that I can implement my platform (College Today, Brighter Tomorrow) on a national level and positively impact our nation while growing my network. I started a YouTube channel that initially acted as a resource for students interested in college life, Claflin University, and HBCUs. I now share my life, thoughts, fashion interests, and pageant journey on my channel, with the hopes of inspiring someone else to chase their dreams.

I live everyday to fulfill my life motto, “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say I used everything you gave me”. –Erma Bombeck
