The Bureau is continuing to monitor the event in the Pacific, following a volcanic eruption near .

A land threat warning still current for Lord Howe & Norfolk islands, and a marine threat warning still current for parts of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and Macquarie Island. These warnings will be in place for several hours.

ATTENTION MARINERS: Message from Regional Harbour Master Brisbane Region

SANDY CAPE to PORT DANGER

Bureau of Meteorology has issued a TSUNAMI WARNING for the marine environment from Sandy Cape to Point Danger including Fraser Island Coast, Sunshine Coast Waters, Moreton Bay, Gold Coast Waters there is the possibility of DANGEROUS RIPS, WAVES AND STRONG OCEAN CURRENTS, AND SOME LOCALISED OVERFLOW ONTO THE IMMEDIATE FORESHORE commencing after 8:00 pm (AEST) Saturday and persisting for several hours.

Mariners are advised to monitor weather conditions via the Bureau of Meteorology website: www.bom.gov.au/tsunami/qld_alerts.shtml
