I've been on national/international media, sung for U.S. presidents and leaders, celebrities, etc. It doesn't matter the position or rank: What matters most is whether a person knows Christ. He is no respecter of persons. When you know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, you know you'll go to Heaven. Regardless of position or title, everyone needs God's love and everyone needs Christ's saving power. Knowing Christ means more than knowing about Him. Knowing Christ means not just putting a cross on and using the title at will. Knowing Christ means believing Him in His Word, repenting, and submitting to Him alone to rule us rather than doing things on our own. Each of us needs to repent and receive Him as Savior and Lord. Each of us needs Jesus Christ...whether rich or poor, powerful or oppressed. We need Jesus.

Through Christ, you can shine, love, and live in contrast to the culture. Yes, shine! Love! Live! Savor the truth:

"For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine;
The Lord my God illumines my darkness" (Psalm 18:26).

"Let your light shine before men in such a way
that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence,
and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven"
(Matthew 5:16).

Moreover, stop scanning the newsfeed and the news for the bad. Instead, open the Bible and your heart as you ask the Lord to show you what is good. Focus on Him

Devotional Excerpt: "The Lord wants to set you free. Don't allow past pain to grow into present paranoia to imprison you from experiencing God's best for you now. You are loved by God. He cares. And real Christians love you and care, too. Leave room for misunderstandings to be clarified. Be wise, but don't freeze in fear-based skepticism when encountering encouragement and hope in Christ."

This world wreaks of fear: People feel soaring levels of anxiety and desperately desire relief. God provides ways to relieve fear (whether it's a medical condition or solely spiritual need). One passage of Scripture leapt off the page: "To grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our foes, might serve Him fearlessly" (Luke 1:74).

As always, I recommend reading the entire chapter for context. But let's zoom in for a moment: Three words stood out to me: "...serve Him fearlessly."

Devotional:
Do you feel like you're at the end of your rope and about to fall off of a mountain? Remember, fellow believers, that you don't rely on your rope: God is holding you. You'll have a mountaintop experience with the Lord again. Trust Him. Enjoy Psalm 118:13 with me: "I was pushed hard, so that I was falling, but the LORD helped me."

At times when we face obstacles, our tendencies can be to overthink our problems and overthink until we make problems. Rather than overthink, choose to think over Scripture.

Dwell on the Word and He will help you dwell in this world without being conformed to it.

Devotional: Are you waiting on God? Our Heavenly Father waits for us, too.

Are you waiting on the Lord today? I am. He listens tenderly and cares how we wait: "O Lord, all my longing is before you; my sighing is not hidden from you" (Psalm 38:9).

Of course, we all know we must wait on the Lord. And we get in trouble when we rush things and don't wait. There are countless examples in Scripture about that.

But have you considered how God waits for us? He waits for us to turn to Him more deeply, more unreservedly. He waits for us to understand more and more fully that He loves us no matter what. He waits for us to obey His Word out of love for Him and not legalism. He waits on us to stop resisting His comfort. Oh, how He wants to comfort you and me: He is so compassionate and 100% eternally trustworthy. Yes, He waits for us believers to trust Him as the perfect parent (our heavenly Father!) who always wants what is the ultimate best for us with eternity in mind.

Really soak in God's Word with me in Isaiah 30:18. Take God's Word to heart:
"And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!"

Today, let's wait for Him and thank Him for waiting for us, too. For us who know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we know God as Father and we know the best is always yet to be!

Nothing stops the light of Jesus Christ.
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it" (John 1:5). In this world, darkness exists. But, for those who know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, ultimate victory remains 100% eternally secure in Him! When temporary trials and tragedies pierce us to the core, we take comfort in the One pierced for us who suffered beyond human description. We rest in His constant presence and the unshakeable truth that Christ came to deliver us from evil. For believers, nothing changes the mind-blowing reality of eternal victory and His constant presence here and hereafter. His grace and mercy allow us to grieve with hope and never give up. Yes, the buzz of noisy, glowing screens and constant stimulation of today's technology inundate our senses. People guzzle coffee and push hard until all their buttons are pressed to the max.

Yet the pop culture message continues to spread that you are more than enough or to just follow your heart. The problem rests, however, in the fact that we are a frazzled people with sinful hearts and resources that are not enough in our own strength. Not enough.

But then the Lord Jesus enters. And God is infinitely more than enough. He strengthens us to do what He's called us to do. He never asks us to do things unless He supplies the resources (i.e. the grace, the strength) for us to do them through Him and for Him. He loves us more than our best, wildest dreams!

Today begins the rest of your life.
Be sure it's God's best for your life.

Many rumors circulate online and offline about living life well. Passivity is not peace. Posting on social media is not a substitution for Christ-honoring actions in life at home and at work. Busyness is not necessarily accomplishing God's business. This is why we must be careful and prayerful to stop and listen to God's Word.

Pray and obey out of love (and not legalism). As Christians, we are to overcome evil with good. "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). With God's help, we can!

Heads up: No matter what trial you face, the enemy will try to tempt you to doubt God's character traits. The enemy of our souls wants to add pain and problems to your trial through the temptation to distrust our Heavenly Father. Don't fall for it. The Lord still loves you. Our Lord Jesus never forsakes His own. When we repent and believe on Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we are forever adopted by our Heavenly Father who makes us co-heirs with Christ. Take His Word to heart: "The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him" (Romans 8:16-17).

With His promises and purposes on our minds and hearts, we must continue to trust Him with our pain: We must remember His incalculable suffering on the cross for you and me.

Consider this devotional a prayerful pep talk.

Yes, I know this very well: Many times, God answers prayer in ways we don't understand yet. (Emphasis on "yet.") When we who know Christ see Him face-to-face, everything will make perfect sense in the glory of His holy, loving presence. Experience a taste of His goodness today as He makes known to you the path of life.
