Missed the first application deadline? Now's your chance! The deadline to apply for our editor-in-chief role has extended until March 28th. We are also pleased to announce that we are accepting joint applications! Apply with a partner and run PHASER together, taking the role of co-editor-in-chief. Simply indicate on your form that you're applying as part of a team, and your joint application will be considered.

PHASER is an incredibly fun publication to work on with a rich range of contributors, and we encourage those with editorial experience and an interest in the magazine to apply for the role! Our magazine launch is TONIGHT! 🎉 who's excited? 🙋‍♀️
A couple of details before the event:
Please arrive at Hertford College's main entrance (Catte street - opposite the Bodleian!) For around 8pm, so we can let you into the college. If you're running late, ping us a dm on this account and we'll nip out and find you! Please have your ticket confirmation email from OSPL ready to show us when you arrive.
Upon entry you'll be given a free drink voucher that can be redeemed for one single spirit and mixer drink.
We will have an area of the bar cornered off for the PHASER event, and there will be a DJ set to enjoy, but as the bar remains open to other college students, we ask that all of PHASER's guests remain respectful to others in the bar.
If you've pre-ordered a copy and would like to pick that up tonight, please also have the OSPL email confirmation for that to hand!

Tickets for PHASER's magazine launch party are now LIVE 🎉
Join us on the evening of 2nd March in Hertford College for a celebration of our new edition!
Entry is £4.50 and includes a free drink - and a DJ set by PHASER's own Bosco Wong - or for the exclusive price of £8.20 you can also reserve a magazine to pick up at the event.
There will be a limited amount of mags on sale at the event, so bring cash if you're interested!

Happy new year from everyone at PHASER 🥂🎊

New year can, for some, act as the catalyst for change, motivation, and renewal. For others, a new year just means a new number on the calendar. Regardless of your attitude towards it, we think this is the perfect time to think about our HT 23 theme: "Not What It Used To Be".

The deadline to submit your thoughts to us (in the form of a full article, an unfinished piece, or just an idea in the works) is January 20th. All submissions to [email protected]

Nostalgia is not what it used to be. The future is not what it used to be. Whatever witty idiom you choose, the distillation remains: nothing is really what it used to be. Even when - perhaps, especially when - the revival of old fashion trends and the sampling of well-known music insists on reproducing what once was.

But is change, in the name of evolution, or merely as a result of time passed, indicative of inauthenticity? Or is change, rather, something to be proud of: a mark of endurance, of evolution? Can we look forward with excitement to what will be, while simultaneously doing justice to, or mourning, what came before?

Whether you wish to investigate the past that we have lost, the present that refuses to remain ours, or the future that will claim its own distinct identity, PHASER’s HT 2023 theme, ‘Not What It Used To Be’, welcomes your thoughts. We welcome the exploration of all things music, fashion, art, and culture, from reviews to opinion pieces. We accept fully completed pieces, works-in-progress, and ideas you would like some guidance to develop. We encourage creative exploration of our theme, which we advise as a loose guide.
