THE EXTRAORDINARY UNDERTAKING IS COMPLETE: ROLLS-ROYCE SPECTRE CONCLUDES GLOBAL TESTING PROGRAMME WITH METICULOUS LIFESTYLE ANALYSIS

“Spectre is the Rolls-Royce that changes everything. It symbolises not only the marque’s technological leadership of the super-luxury sector, but that a bold electric future, first prophesised in 1900 by our founder, Charles Rolls, is now upon us. To attain its final, perfect form, Spectre has passed through our engineers’ ‘finishing school’ – and in so doing, completed the most demanding testing regime in our brand’s history, spanning 2.5 million kilometres and every conceivable extreme of temperature, weather, road type and surface condition. Equally importantly, it has also undergone our extensive Lifestyle Analysis testing. Applying our detailed knowledge of our clients' tastes, habits and requirements, this unique evaluation process ensures Spectre delivers an authentic, personal and effortless super-luxury experience, as well as true engineering substance, specific to the most demanding consumer group in the world – the Rolls-Royce client.”
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars “It is a highlight of my professional life to have developed Rolls-Royce Spectre, the car which propels Rolls-Royce into its bold, electric future. Such a remarkable car requires a remarkable testing programme and I am enormously proud that Spectre has now completed what has been the most arduous schedule ever conceived for a Rolls-Royce motor car. Indeed, it is where automotive manufacturers finish testing that so much of our work begins in fulfilling the requirements of the super-luxury consumer. This has been an extraordinary undertaking from a team of dedicated and highly skilled engineers that span both traditional technical disciplines and exciting emerging technologies. Rolls-Royce Spectre brings the future of this great marque into the present.”
Dr. Mihiar Ayoubi, Director of Engineering, Rolls-Royce Motor CarsRolls-Royce Motor Cars’ genre-defining all-electric super coupé, Spectre, has now concluded an historic and unique undertaking: a 2.5-million-kilometre testing programme simulating more than 400 years of use. In the most demanding development process in the marque’s 119-year history, Spectre has endured temperatures ranging from -40°C to +50°C, and in conditions spanning from Arctic snow and ice to deserts, high mountain passes and the world’s megacities. En route, every one of Spectre’s 141,200 digital sender-receiver relations and 25,000 performance-related functions has been minutely observed, analysed and tuned by Rolls-Royce engineers, a process representing over 50,000 collective driven hours of highly skilled work. This has resulted in thousands of iterative improvements in everything from Spectre’s acoustic performance, composure under cornering and steering precision to its charge time, electric range and torque delivery; each small in itself, but with an immense overall cumulative effect on the client experience. LIFESTYLE ANALYSISAs a Rolls-Royce, Spectre must be more than just an engineering tour de force – it must also offer clients an authentic super-luxury experience. It has therefore also been subjected to the marque's unique Lifestyle Analysis process, which has informed the development of every new product emanating from the marque’s home in its Goodwood era. This additional testing programme goes far beyond standard automotive assessments to encompass how clients will use the motor car in their daily lives. Lifestyle Analysis is based on the marque's detailed knowledge and understanding of the super-luxury consumer, and continuous intelligence-gathering across the luxury sector. It enables engineers to anticipate the very particular demands likely to be placed on a new Rolls-Royce and ensure that final engineered and fashioned experience incorporates appropriate features and responses. Using this knowledge, engineers have considered a range of variables of particular relevance to Rolls-Royce clients. For example, they have examined how Spectre’s drivetrain performs on specific roads in and around the world’s most exclusive enclaves, including: Sanya on Hainan Island, China; Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; Napa Valley in California; and London, in the marque’s home market. This testing is not limited to performance under highway speeds. Specific city centre destinations are also used to ensure that features such as four-wheel steering offer the requisite manoeuvrability benefits to access areas roads and property approaches with limited space. Indeed, testing in and around the boroughs of Mayfair and Kensington and Chelsea, London, ensured the appropriate rear axle steering to approach key residential streets and luxury retail locations. Similarly, given the environments Spectre will be placed in worldwide, a large number of static testing procedures are undertaken that address key client concerns. These include if it is possible to hold a normal telephone conversation inside the motor car while it is parked alongside a waiting helicopter, the strength of the motor car’s in-car internet connection between specific skyscrapers, and ease of access when placing specific objects inside the motor car – the long garment bags used to protect formal evening suiting and gowns. As with the technical road testing, the Lifestyle Analysis phase of testing is in place to highlight necessary adjustments to the motor car's specification or performance. For example, after testing the power-assisted doors on an exceptionally steep hill – replicating the steep driveways common to the hills of Los Angeles, California – engineers added gyroscopic and G-force sensors to ensure that doors open and close at the same effortless speed, regardless of longitudinal or transverse parking angles. Additionally, one corner was used so frequently to test the steering precision of Spectre, which the marque’s engineers believe is the most exact in Rolls-Royce history, they have named a switchback within the environs of Rolls-Royce’s home in Goodwood, West Sussex, ‘Spectre Corner.’ Fittingly, it was during Lifestyle Analysis testing in London, the capital of Rolls-Royce’s home market, that Spectre completed its 2.5-million-kilometre odyssey in preparation for client deliveries, which will commence in the fourth quarter of this year.

ROLLS-ROYCE MENTORS SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH LOCAL YOUNG PEOPLE

“We’ve been involved with Dare to Dream for a number of years and it’s always been an incredibly rewarding experience for the young people taking part, and our own team members acting as mentors. This year has been particularly special, since we were able to welcome the students on-site at the Home of Rolls-Royce for the first time since the pandemic. Sharing their concerns, experiences and aspirations with those already in work is a huge confidence-booster for these young people as they approach their GCSE choices. We’re delighted to be able to support them and help unlock the enormous talent we see in our neighbouring communities.” Mark Adams, Director of Human Resources, Rolls-Royce Motor CarsRolls-Royce Motor Cars is delighted to confirm its continued participation in Dare to Dream, a mentoring scheme designed to help pupils realise their potential and overcome their personal barriers to success. During the 2022-23 school year, 15 volunteers from across the company have acted as mentors to Year 9 students from Chichester Free School, Bourne Community College and Ormiston Six Villages Academy, all close to the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood. The team includes some who took part in 2022 and have remained involved as ‘super mentors’. Each mentor works with three students, all of whom are facing challenges affecting their personal lives, academic progress and future career choices. Over the course of three sessions, the mentors share their experiences and thoughts, seek to understand the student’s outlook on life and explore and challenge what they may believe (or have been told) about themselves and the world. Helping the students to think beyond the bounds of school and home can spark aspirational ideas and the motivation to grapple with what lies ahead. By sharing their own journeys, which have not always followed conventional educational and employment paths, the mentors demonstrate that doors aren’t always closed; opportunities come with the desire to pursue things they enjoy and are interested in, however bold. Alison Turnbull, Head of Year 9 at Chichester Free School, says: “This inspirational, impactful programme makes students aware of a variety of pathways and opportunities, while giving them the confidence to believe in themselves and make better-informed decisions about their future. The visit to Rolls-Royce was an amazing experience and sparked conversations about alternative post-16 options. Please don’t stop doing what you’re doing; you really don't know how many lives you’re changing!” Dare to Dream supports students at what can be a daunting time, when they are choosing their GCSEs and feel under pressure to start formulating long-term education and career plans. Mentors provide much-needed support at this crucial stage: it can be especially helpful for students to realise that adults already in the working world also face challenges and have their own doubts and uncertainties to deal with. One participant, who’s in Year 9 at Bourne Community College, explains: “This was one of the best things I've been able to do yet! The Rolls-Royce employees were super-friendly and offered a wide variety of jobs and applications available for passionate and talented students. The Dare to Dream programme has been amazing and has improved my confidence and my abilities to overcome challenges in life.” Previous mentors report seeing a noticeable growth in students’ confidence from one session to the next. As well as encouraging students to take ownership of pursuing their dreams, the mentors offer practical coaching, helping them consider what skills they might need and how they could go about gaining them. Lydia Woodroff, HR Sustainability Business Partner, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, is coordinating the project at Rolls-Royce. She says, “We were delighted to continue our support of Dare to Dream this year, and see the programme’s continued impact on the selected participants over the year. They met some of our Apprentices and saw how we support people’s early careers; they also watched vehicles being built and experienced a ‘customer reveal’, culminating in sitting in a Rolls-Royce Phantom and having their photographs taken as a souvenir. We’re pleased to have this opportunity to show young people the range of skills we use here, and the varied roles we make available to home so close to home.” Jack ‘The Lad’ Hayes, programme lead from the Love Local Jobs Foundation adds: “Our work in and around Chichester simply wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of our friends at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. For students, knowing that one of the world’s most prestigious brands wants to support and encourage them makes it a truly unique experience. As ever, the mentor team at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars really embraced their role: their work will have a hugely positive impact on the students they worked with.”

Boris Weletzky, Regional Director United Kingdom, Europe, and Central Asia, Rolls-Royce Motor CarsIn 2021, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars made a historic announcement that would shape the marque’s history forever. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars declared its commitment to electric technology by both announcing Spectre, an all-electric car with first customer deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2023, and that by the end of 2030, the marque’s entire portfolio would be fully electric. Since this significant moment in the storied history of Rolls-Royce, Spectre has been on a remarkable journey, including completing a highly demanding testing programme, spanning 2.5 million kilometres. Last October, Spectre was unveiled to the world at the Home of Rolls-Royce in West Sussex, and response from media across the globe has been overwhelmingly positive. Now, ahead of first client deliveries later this year, Spectre made its UK dealer debut on 1st June at the marque’s flagship residence in Berkeley Street, Mayfair, London. The world’s first ultra-luxury electric super coupé will now embark on its UK tour, offering clients an opportunity to draw closer to the brand, viewing this remarkable motor car and thereby participating in Rolls-Royce’s electric future. Spectre heralds the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and the start of the marque’s all-electric era. Spectre represents a promise made, a prophecy kept and a remarkable undertaking. The marque has a long-standing connection with electric technologies; in 1900, Rolls-Royce co-founder Charles Rolls prophesised an electric future for the motor car. Having experienced an electric vehicle named The Columbia Electric Carriage, he foresaw the technology’s suitability as a clean, noiseless alternative to the internal combustion engine – providing there was sufficient infrastructure to support it. In 2011, Rolls-Royce showcased a fully electric Experimental Phantom concept named 102EX. This was followed by 103EX, a dramatic design study that anticipated a bold electric future for the marque. Rolls-Royce Dawn Convertible: A Swan Song for the Ages

It’s official: the Rolls-Royce Dawn has been discontinued, and new models will never grace the streets of the world again.

This came as a surprise to some fans who considered the Dawn to be one of the best luxury convertible cars on the market. It was one of the last in the fleet to utilize the BMW-backed powertrain, complete with a monster twin-turbo V12. Despite its shared DNA with the legendary Wraith and Ghost models, it stood as its own bold statement in the automotive world, boasting unique body paneling and undeniable style.

So, let’s further eulogize the Dawn by checking out some of the trademark features that will make it a collector’s classic Rolls-Royce convertible for decades to come.

Bespoke Dawn Highlights

For as long as there have been cars, Rolls-Royce has been making them with an unwavering dedication to providing stylish, eclectic amenities.

The Dawn is no exception.

A Unique Convertible Design

Anyone who’s ever rode in the back seat of most convertibles would rank the comfort level somewhere between “cramped” and “unbearable.”

With the Dawn, engineers and designers sought to redefine what a Rolls-Royce two-door convertible could be. They eschewed the traditional 2+2 design, and instead implemented an uncompromising schematic that offered comfortable seating with ample legroom for four adults.

The Silent Ballet

As with any modern Rolls-Royce coupe convertible, designers paid great attention to ensuring style in every mile. This includes the way the automatic convertible top folds up and down.

With a push of a button, the custom-paneled rear decklid lifts and the cloth roof unfurls, completing the process in just 20 seconds. When you see it for yourself, you’ll understand exactly why they dubbed it with such an elegant name.

In addition to its good looks, when the top is up, it negates road noise like a dream. You may even forget you’re driving a convertible.

Serious Suspension

When it was first announced back in 2015, RR claimed that the Dawn was the most rigid-bodied four-seat convertible on the market. This is thanks to its air spring suspension system and upgraded anti-roll bars. The rear track is also nearly a full inch wider than the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

Rear-Hinged Coach Doors

One feature about this vintage Rolls-Royce convertible that’s instantly striking is the door handle position. They sit at the front of the door panel, near the rearview mirrors.

It’s because the doors actually open backwards. With a light tug of the handle, they swing open automatically, with a slow, intentional rhythm. Once inside, the doors can be closed with a button on the A-pillar, eliminating the need to reach for the handle.

Not only does this practical feature make entry into the rear seats much easier, but it gives the Dawn an unmistakable profile when both doors sit ajar. You can just picture it sitting regally in a car show amongst 70’s sportsters with their su***de doors.

A Secret Parasol

When the doors are open, the Dawn reveals an inventive surprise for a rainy day: a beautifully crafted limited-edition umbrella.

The umbrella is stored in a small cylindrical compartment in the front fender portion of the Dawn. The umbrella’s handle ejects from the compartment at the perfect height to seamlessly grab it and exit the vehicle without skipping a beat.

Canadel Paneling

Also currently available for the Wraith, this crafted wood paneling throughout the interior gives the Dawn an old-world flourish. It’s named for a small inlet in France, where Sir Henry Royce himself spent his winters.

Dashboard, door panels, center console, decking, and even the ashtray lid can all be outfitted with this striking, symmetrical woodgrain that seems to effortlessly follow the contours of the vehicle.

Aero Cowling

This patented tonneau cover doesn’t just protect the rear seats—it transforms the look of the Dawn completely. By customizing it to match the upholstery, Rolls-Royce elevated it from a mere accessory into an artform.

The Spirit of Ecstasy

As with many Rolls-Royce Drophead models before, the brand’s iconic logo sits front-and-center on the hood, but this one is extra special—it’s retractable.

That’s right, even the hood ornament is automatic. Depress the appropriate button, and the small statuette drops into the engine compartment. Quite useful if you're parking downtown for a few hours.

Special Edition Dawn Models

Like other Rolls-Royce luxury cars, the Dawn was available in a number of bespoke variants that came with their own set of specialized features.

Rolls-Royce Dawn Silver Bullet

“Inspired by the roadsters of the roadsters of the 1920s,” Rolls-Royce only made 50 of these opulent beasts. It represents old Rolls-Royce convertible style, with cutting-edge amenities.

Trim-specific features include matte carbon fiber interior trim, dark headlights and front bumper finish, and quilted leather inspired by the touring jackets of yesteryear. If you’ve ever even been near one of these, count yourself lucky.

Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge

For all of you speed demons out there, this performance Rolls-Royce is an essential addition to your collection.

Instantly recognizable by its all-black finish inside and out, the Dawn Black Badge was the second-most expensive vehicle the company offered at the time of its release to the public. It also has a cranked-up engine with 30 more horsepower, which motivates it from zero to 60 in under five seconds.

Rolls-Royce Dawn Landspeed Edition

A subset of the Black Badge collection, and quite possibly one of the most exclusive cars they ever made, with only 25 in the entire world.

This incredibly exclusive trim is inspired by one of the great heroes of the racing world: George E. T. Eyston, who shattered the land speed record not once, not twice, but three times. It boasts laser-etched engravings of Eyston’s craft on top of the front tunnel, as well as a lasered simulacra of the blacktop on the world-famous Bonneville Speedway across the interior fascia.

The Dawn of a New Age

Like so many other iconic Rolls-Royce breeds, the Dawn is retiring from production—but that doesn’t mean it’s going anywhere.

Now is the perfect time to pick up one of these iconic British machines. Are you in the market for a pre-owned Rolls-Royce Dawn for sale in Miami? BLACK BADGE CULLINAN 'BLUE SHADOW': A BESPOKE JOURNEY TO THE EDGE OF SPACE

“With Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow, we venture to the fabled Kármán Line, where the constraints of Earth give way to the infinite freedom of outer space: a zone of incomparable beauty, mystery and boundless possibility. In creating Blue Shadow, the Bespoke Collective of designers, engineers and craftspeople captured this spirit by embarking on their own voyage of discovery, once again pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship. Blue Shadow is a testament to our relentless pursuit of perfection and a celebration of the spirit of exploration, designed for the unique individuals who expand horizons and represent the very best of human endeavour.” Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor CarsRolls-Royce is delighted to present the stunning Black Badge Cullinan 'Blue Shadow' Private Collection, exploring the beauty and mystery of space. For this unique creation, leading Rolls-Royce designers drew inspiration from the Kármán Line, the invisible boundary 62 miles above the Earth's surface, where our planet’s atmosphere ends and outer space begins. In this mystical, ethereal region, the blue of the sky we see on Earth fades into the blackness of space, creating an intense dark-blue zone where darkness becomes visible. It is a beautiful, silent, mysterious world reserved for a select and adventurous few, perfectly encapsulating the essence of Blue Shadow. This new Bespoke interpretation of Black Badge Cullinan is available exclusively through the marque’s Private Offices and is strictly limited to just 62 examples globally, one for every mile from Earth to the Kármán Line. EXTERIOR: THE SHADES OF BLUE
The extraordinary, shimmering new Bespoke 'Stardust Blue' exterior paint captures the deep blue colour of the upper layers of the Earth’s atmosphere. The finish of the thermal tiles used to shield homebound Space Shuttles from the intense heat of atmospheric re-entry are recalled in the satin-tinted grille surround and aero bumper insert sets. Drawing further from the materials used in spacecrafts, the Spirit of Ecstasy is created using 3D printing techniques in titanium and finished with a thin layer of blue-tinted lacquer which adds pearlescence while revealing the titanium’s grained texture. The Black Badge infinity logo and ‘Blue Shadow’ Private Collection name are engraved on the Spirit of Ecstasy base and infilled with Charles Blue. Completing the exterior aesthetic, Blue Shadow’s wheels are subtly darkened using a translucent lacquer. INTERIOR: ELEVATED PERSPECTIVE
At the Kármán line, the visible edge of Earth's atmosphere appears as an ethereal blue halo. This transition from blue sky to the inky darkness of space is captured on Blue Shadow's unique painted fascia and door panels. These were created using six layers of paint, combining five different shades of blue with a deep black hue to produce a mesmerizing three-dimensional effect. The final touch is a clear-coat layer incorporating blue and clear glass particles to add further depth and lustre – the ratio was precisely identified down to a fraction of a percent: it is exactly 0.05%. The fascia is completed with a Bespoke clock, unique to the Private Collection, which features light blue anodized details and 'Blue Shadow' engraving. ‘EDGE OF SPACE’ HEADLINER
With ‘Blue Shadow’, Rolls-Royce have taken the marque’s fabled Starlight Headliner to an even more stellar level: an intricate Moon embroidery, surrounded by an array of ‘stars’, teleports the passengers to the edge of space. Representing the Moon's surface with its multitude of craters in three dimensions, the embroidery incorporates five different colours of thread, each applied with a different technique to produce a distinctive texture. In total, the embroidery is created from 250,000 separate stitches – a process that takes two entire days to complete. Filling the cabin with a gentle glow and a sense of wonder, the Starlight Headliner contains a total of 1,183 ‘stars’ – 799 white and 384 blue – each individually placed in the leather canvas through perforated holes, precisely chalked and punched by hand. To add to the Headliner's mystique and ambiance, the twinkling effect of the fibre-optic ‘stars’ is further enhanced for an even more enchanting glow. NEW ART CANVAS: PERFORATED LEATHER
In a first for Rolls-Royce, the front and rear seats feature a unique perforated artwork, inspired by the view of Earth from space. Formed from a multitude of tiny perforations in the leather, the pattern conjures up the impression of organic, ever-shifting clouds swirling over the continents and oceans. These perforations are made in two different sizes: the smaller (just 0.8 mm in diameter) form the land, while the slightly larger (1.2 mm) define the sea; the blank spaces of leather in between represent the clouds. Each seat has over 75,000 perforations, all individually placed. The pattern took two weeks to design and underwent five trials before it attained the exceptional level of quality required by the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective. The result is perfect alignment of the design, ensuring a cohesive, uniform appearance across all four seats. The seats' perforation pattern is extended to the picnic table backs. Once lowered, the picnic tables themselves are finished in Piano Black veneer and incorporate a glass sparkle finish, evoking the view into the darkness of space. Each table also includes the Collection theme text, inlaid in polished aluminium beneath the top lacquer layer – ‘The Blue Shadow occurs at the outer extremes of our world, affording an extraordinary perspective, and the ability to touch the stars’. BESPOKE ACCESSORIES
The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective created a series of unique accessories to complement Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow. The exclusive indoor car cover echoes the pattern seen on the seats. To accompany the driver and passengers on their adventures, there is a unique luggage set that continues the Private Collection’s colourway. Clients can also commission an exact 1:8 scale replica of their full-size Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow, featuring fully functioning exterior and interior lights, opening and closing coach doors and an interior recreating all the Collection details, including the Bespoke Illuminated Collection Treadplates. Black Badge Cullinan 'Blue Shadow' is available exclusively via the Private Office. All 62 examples have been allocated to clients worldwide.
