Dear Listeners, as 2023 is drawing to a close we are gearing up to release our audio book-length novellas through our podcast like every season. This year before the Christmas holidays we will be releasing a historical novel from one of our beloved stalwarts of Bengali literature - bandyopadhay. When we started our podcast more than 3 years ago we decided that one of our goals would be to publish all of his historical novels over time in audio format. This would be our second novel. is an iconic novel set in the backdrop of a dark age of Bengal between the demise of the kingdom of and the advent of the kingdom of the . An enthralling story that has a historical connotation of that era but is entirely woven by the creative genius of . The story, however, goes deeper into the psyche of Bengal and the people reminding us of the past glory of the state where we, the Bengalis, came from. In the words of the author, we can't forget history, since if one that forgets its past loses its future too.

You will hear some new original sounds created for this piece by noted music composer and arranger from Kolkata Surojit Das. We hope during the holidays you will be able to listen to this work from Golpo Kothar Asor, enjoy the literary excellence of , and get an immersion in the history of Bengal. Please stay tuned to our next announcement.

Dear Listeners of our Podcast,
In celebration of Rabindranath Tagore's 162nd birthday, we have put together a special edition of our podcast that includes three short ageless stories of Tagore - , , and . Not only these three stories are among the most famous stories of this great man, but based on those stories three epic movies were made by three storied directors of Bengal. Tapan Sinha made into an award-winning film in 1957, Satyajit Ray made Monihara into one of his three short movies in award-winning in 1961, and Agradoot, which was a unique team of film technicians turned directors in Bengal, made Khokababur Pratyaborton into a super hit film in 1960. None of the directors tried to change the name of the stories in the movies. Tagore wrote these stories in the 1890s and interestingly those were turned into films within the late 1950s and early 1960s. The stories depict Tagore’s deep understanding of the human psyche, love, pain, and relationship, that crossed societal strata and geographical boundaries. The other common theme that we can discover in the stories is the theme of returning – central characters in the stories return to the place from where their journies began or in the case of Kabuliwala – began the return journey to the place where it all started.

We hope you will like our readings. These stories never get old or stale. The power of their tales and the sublime nature of the language keep them fresh for ages. In this weeklong celebration of our beloved poet’s birthday let’s immerse ourselves in his stories. Tune in to our podcast via your favorite podcast app. Our podcast is available for free via Apple podcast, Google podcast, Amazon Music, Audible, and many other Podcast apps.

Three stories - three movies

Dear listeners, this summer we have read three iconic stories in our podcast which were used by three notable film directors for three iconic films in the 1980s. These stories explored love, affection, and human feelings and failings at three different times. Two of the stories were written by Saradindu Bandyopadhyay and the third by Premendra Mitra. Dadar Kirti, Moru o Sangha, and Telenapota Abishkar are the three stories based on which Tarun Majumdar, Nabendu Ghosh, and Mrinal Sen, three Bengali film stalwarts made their award-winning movies: , ,, and respectively. If you have watched those movies in the 80s but never read those, please listen to our podcasts showcasing these three stories. For those of you who have neither watched those movies nor read the stories, we do hope that you would like our reading and then watch their movie rendition by the directors.

You can listen to our podcast on any of your favorite podcast apps: , , , , ,, and several other podcast apps.
