Help Us Save Penny: Urgent Surgery Needed for Our Beloved Cat
Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
If you’ve listened to the Coffee and Hardcore podcast enough you will remember the street cat Penny that my family took in a few years back. She became a topic of conversation a few times especially when Wiley and my wife got me to finally let her come in our home all the time. She has become a big part of our family and she’s a big lovable fluff ball. Recently, she was diagnosed with feline fibrosarcoma, a rare but aggressive type of cancer that develops in the connective tissues. It’s a type of cancer that requires immediate action to prevent it from spreading.
After consultations with our vet, we’ve learned that the best chance to save Penny’s life is to amputate her affected leg. While this decision is heartbreaking, we know that cats adapt remarkably well to life on three legs. We know this first hand because we have Buffy - the 3 legged wonder cat that became part of our family last year. Penny is a spunky, lovable goofball and it gives us hope she’ll thrive post-surgery. The procedure, along with necessary aftercare (medications, follow-ups, and recovery support), will cost $800 - a sum that’s not huge, but for us at the moment, it’s hard to cover alone. After some conversations we thought we would turn to those who have heard the stories and the laughter the cat has brought us over the last few years. I know everyone is having a tough time at the moment - and please do not feel obligated at all. But if you feel like helping - Even a small amount - will go a long way.
