CPKC's carbon emissions calculator for its combined network

Canadian Pacific Kansas City has launched an updated carbon emissions calculator for its combined rail network in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
This innovative web-based tool is designed to give customers greater insight into the carbon footprint of CPKC's transportation services by allowing users to estimate the potential greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions they may achieve using CPKC's rail services compared to long-haul trucking alternatives.
"This carbon emissions calculator supports our customers across North America in making informed decisions on freight transportation options consistent with their own climate-related strategies and that benefit the environment," said Keith Creel, CPKC President and Chief Executive Officer. "CPKC believes meaningful climate action includes collaboration, partnerships and engagement with our customers and other stakeholders. Updating our carbon calculator to cover our full combined network allows our customers to be engaged in CPKC's sustainability journey from the start."
Expanding on the individual former Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern carbon emissions calculators, the updated version of the tool incorporates customer-specific shipping details to calculate routes across CPKC's rail network and commodity-specific GHG emissions. The calculator also provides information on highway safety and other public benefits of shipping with CPKC's freight rail services.

The Luka 2 Is Built for Creating Space on the Court

The Luka 2 is created with nonlinear movements in mind, highlighting Luka Doncic’s crafty game and his talent for creating separation. Doncic continually mentioned “balance” as what he needed in a shoe to keep him locked in.
To help create space on the court, designers evolved the combined use of full-length Formula 23 and the IsoPlate — both Jordan-only innovations — that work together with a new medial Cushlon 3.0 wedge foam to help keep the foot in control.
A Luka 2 colorway with at least 20 percent recycled material by weight will release each season, each inspired by his home country of Slovenia.

Luka Doncic has a playing style that’s one of a kind: He’s always under control, quick to separate from his defender, and possesses a court vision that allows him to see the play before it happens. The Jordan design team has studied him closely to evolve the second installment of his signature shoe, the Luka 2. Through a highly collaborative process, Jordan Brand designed the Luka 2 to meet the needs of Doncic as well as the needs of the next generation.
The goal of the design process was to study his multidirectional play in hunting down space, maximize those movements, and help create separation through the shoe’s technology. The shoe is created with the step-back in mind, embracing one of the key moves that epitomizes Doncic’s game.
To help Doncic create space on the court, designers evolved the combination of full-length Formula 23 and the IsoPlate — both Jordan-only innovations. These features work together with a medial wedge of Cushlon 3.0 foam to help keep the foot at a proper banking angle, which helps the player efficiently push off their forefoot.
The midsole is comprised of four parts. The Formula 23 foam rests directly underneath the foot, surrounded by a firm foam carrier. A soft foam wedge on the medial side helps the foot sink in slightly so it sits at a proper angle for pushing off the court. Finally, the latest version of the IsoPlate raises the lateral sidewall against the carrier foam to help keep the player on balance during lateral changes of direction.
The Luka 2 releases in the Luk.AI colorway July 5 for select Nike Members globally and July 11 on Jordan.com and at select retailers.

Introducing Voicebox: The Most Versatile AI for Speech Generation

Meta is announcing a breakthrough in generative AI for speech. Meta has developed Voicebox, a state of the art AI model that can perform speech generation tasks — like editing, sampling and stylizing — that it wasn’t specifically trained to do through in-context learning.
Voicebox can produce high quality audio clips and edit pre-recorded audio — like removing car horns or a dog barking — all while preserving the content and style of the audio. The model is also multilingual and can produce speech in six languages.
In the future, multipurpose generative AI models like Voicebox could give natural-sounding voices to virtual assistants and non-player-characters in the metaverse. They could allow visually impaired people to hear written messages from friends read by AI in their voices, give creators new tools to easily create and edit audio tracks for videos, and much more.
The versatility of Voicebox enables a variety of tasks, including:
In-context text-to-speech synthesis: Using an audio sample as short as two seconds long, Voicebox can match the audio style and use it for text-to-speech generation.
Speech editing and noise reduction: Voicebox can recreate a portion of speech that’s interrupted by noise or replace misspoken words without having to re-record an entire speech. For example, you can identify a segment of a speech that’s interrupted by a dog barking, crop it, and instruct Voicebox to re-generate that segment – like an eraser for audio editing.
Cross-lingual style transfer: When given a sample of someone’s speech and a passage of text in English, French, German, Spanish, Polish or Portuguese, Voicebox can produce a reading of the text in any of those languages, even when the sample speech and the text are in different languages. This capability could be used in the future to help people communicate in a natural, authentic way even if they don’t speak the same languages.
Diverse speech sampling: Having learned from diverse data, Voicebox can generate speech that is more representative of how people talk in the real world and in the six languages listed above.
Voicebox is an important step forward in Meta’s generative AI research, and Meta looks forward to continuing the exploration in the audio space and seeing how other researchers build on the work.

Maersk (Maersk) and Barry Callebaut Group, the world leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, have entered into a long-term partnership to build and operate a new Built-To-Suit cocoa bean warehouse and dispatch facility in Malaysia. A ground-breaking ceremony of this dedicated facility was held in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia.
This warehouse supports Barry Callebaut’s strategic growth to continuously provide high quality cocoa and chocolate products and services to their customers in Malaysia and Asia Pacific region. It is also a testament of Maersk’s ambition to expand current ocean and landside logistics services into an integrated end-to-end logistics solution for its customer.
Located in the Johor Bahru district, the main industrial zone in the city of Pasir Gudang close to the Johor port, this new multi-storey facility is one of the largest cocoa bean warehouses in Southeast Asia. It spans across more than half a million square feet and has a fit-for-purpose design with operational efficiency as a priority. It is also at a 1-kilometre distance from Barry Callebaut’s cocoa processing factory in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia.
