It’s a new Series with new horizons and time for us to change the game & bring in some new energy. It’s been 7 months since our Series 3 Finale episode & a lot has happened for our co-hosts. Josh spent 3 months living in Argentina & Brazil while Lucas got married in Mexico (with Josh as a reception co-host). This week, we have Vancouver based actor, Cardi Wong, joining us to talk about his first lead role in a feature film, "Golden Delicious"! A coming of age story about high school senior Jake who comes to terms with his own sexual identity while being pushed and pulled in different directions from various influences like family, relationships, and new romance. It's an exciting role that we dive into with Cardi as well as his origins and motivations to act from childhood to graduating from the Capilano University's Acting for Stage and Screen program, and his experience on shows like Supergirl, Hudson & Rex, and voice acting on Supernatural Academy as series regular, Braxton!

Ep. 78 - A Kung Fu Story w/ Stanton Chong

It's the first new episode of the year and we're have a blast from the past this week with Vancouver based film maker and action designer Stanton Chong! Stanton has directed a variety of short action films with his YouTube Channel Eunoia Creations and film festivals like the Vancouver Asian Film Festival. He's worked on action films in China with the Jackie Chan Stunt team and on the CW's Supergirl as an action designer.

We talk about his inspirations, journey through filmmaking and his most recent project, "Africa: A Kung Fu Story", where he went to Tanzania with a documentary crew to film their experience teaching the young monks of an African Shaolin monastery called Shaolin Tanzania. Over 17 days, Stanton helped teach these young monks about filmmaking and how to tell their story of Shaolin martial arts with practical filmmaking skills!

This week, we have the very funny and talented Milton Ng joining us as a filmmaker, producer, and stand up comedian based out of Vancouver! Milton shares how he first got inspired to perform on stage when he saw a mic'ed up mop saleswoman at the Richmond Night Market in Vancouver. Milton has also worked on the technical side of the film industry for years for productions like Arrow, Deadpool, and The Interview. He also produces award winning short films and digital content through his own production company, Dear Hero Studio! He's collaborated with HWMIY Podcast alums Curtis Lum and Kent Leung on these short films and is currently developing a feature length film with Curtis based on his life story growing up in his family's Chinese restaurant!

This week we have Vancouver based Producer Aaron Au, joining us to talk about the project development side of film and television as a Director of Production and Development at Brightlight Pictures. He's produced features like 2 HEARTS and most recently FLOAT (Andrea Bang, Robbie Amell). For TV he's produced pilots for Sony/Hulu, FOX, and season 1 of Netflix’s FIREFLY LANE. Aaron is currently developing a comedy series titled BANANA BOYS based on the novel by Terry Wu.

During the podcast Aaron shares where he sees Asian creators and projects going in the current industry, what he looks for when finding new projects, and encourages Asian creators out there to keep developing ideas and reach out to him with spec scripts and portfolios!
