FORT TOLUKKO, 1522, Ternate, Indonesia 🇮🇩
Fort Tolukko, built in 1522 on Ternate’s east coast in Indonesia, was a Portuguese fortification designed as strategic stronghold to control the spice trade in the Maluku Islands. Its unique narrow shape reflects the local topography, while its Iberian architecture distinguishes it from Dutch forts in the area. Positioned strategically above a reef-free landing site, it initially housed 160 soldiers. Over time, it was occupied by various powers, including the Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, British, and the Sultanate of Ternate. Renamed in the late 17th century after Ternate ruler Kaicil Tolukko, the fort was abandoned in 1864 but renovated in 1996 and now serves as a tourist attraction.

Did you know The Barringer Meteorite Crater, also known as the Arizona Meteorite Cratter, is an impact crater located in the desert of Arizona, United States. It is approximately 1,200 meters in diameter and 170 meters deep. It was formed about 50,000 years ago when an iron meteorite, about 50 meters in diameter, struck the Earth at high speed. This crater is one of the most preserved in the world and is an important geological research site. Nowadays, it's a tourist attraction and a center for science education.

An interesting fact about the Barringer Meteorite Crater is that, despite being one of the most studied craters, it was long thought to have been formed by a volcanic explosion rather than a meteorological impact. This was because geologist and businessman Daniel Barringer, who investigated the crater in the 20th century, was one of the first to propose that the crater was caused by a meteorite, although his theory was initially rejected.
