On January 2nd, 2022 I published the first episode of The 86,400 Experience and reached 25 downloads in my first month.
On April 18th, I published episode 14. That month, we reached 47 downloads - down from a peak of 76 the month before, when I released my conversation with Gary Vaynerchuk.
And then, I stopped recording.
There was a conversation I had with Jordan Syatt in September of 2022 that didn't get released until April 20th, 2023, when I decided I was going to do a full reboot on May 4th.
That brings me to today.
Less than a year after relaunching, we've reached over 800 total downloads (844 as of today), and just reached 90 downloads over the last MONTH.
It's still in its infancy, but the downloads have been trending upwards since July (last month was almost TRIPLE what we had from June 19-July 18th, 2023)...
Why am I sharing all this?
Because I started with 0 downloads.
I didn't know what it took to run a podcast (still don't, but I'm learning as I go...)
I almost gave up, but felt like this was something I was being called to do.
I answered the call, and have made some amazing friends and had some incredible conversations along the way.
It's made me a more confident speaker and a better listener.
It's helped me prove to myself that I can be consistent with making content (for those of you counting, I've been posting on Facebook pretty much daily since December 1st, 2022, and tonight will be my 141st day in a row of going live)...not only that, but I've been ENJOYING the process.
If I didn't relaunch my podcast, I may not have released my day planner of the same name on Amazon (how many people can say, "look me up on Amazon"?)
I'm not saying any of this to brag...it's not about me.
I'm telling you this because there is likely something you've been wanting to do for a LONG time that you haven't even started yet.
Maybe you're afraid of what people might think.
Maybe you think you need more knowledge or better equipment.
Or maybe you, like so many others, just keep convincing yourself that you'll do it when you're "less busy."
My advice for you?
Just start.
Build the airplane as you're flying it.
You'll either figure it out along the way and build something you're immensely proud of, or realize it's not what you wanted to do in the first place.
If you find yourself in the latter situation, at least you'll know.
But you won't know unless you try.
Now get out there and start building.
