Remembering Nick Bockwinkel (December 6, 1934 – November 14, 2015).

Nick Bockwinkel shined when it came to mat wrestling and was an outstanding heel performer. In the late 70's and early 80's, Bockwinkel, often described as "the greatest AWA World Champion of all time," came to Memphis to battle Jerry Lawler for his coveted AWA World title. Lance Russell described those World title matches at the Mid-South Coliseum as “magic.”

Of Bockwinkel, Jerry Lawler described his classic foe as "A class act. Nick had this certain air about him. He carried himself like a real professional. When you saw the guy, you knew he was the real deal. He was excellent on interviews. I’d put him in the top five of the guys that I’ve ever wrestled.” Jerry Jarrett, upon hearing the news of Bockwinkel's passing, said "Nick was the class of our business. He was a friend I could count on."

Bockwinkel died from undisclosed causes on November 14, 2015.

We are sad to report the passing of a true legend and trailblazer in the world of professional wrestling - Pat Patterson. He debuted in 1958, was the first Intercontinental Champion, and the first openly gay wrestler in history. A true loss for the community, may he rest in peace. He was 79.
