The historical background of this festival is like during the time of creation, the Himalayan range was forming. An excellent volcano eruption (it is believed that Tendong is a dormant volcano) destroyed and damaged Naho and Nather Pokh, the sources of the Teesta and Rangeet rivers, and continuous rain followed.

This destruction of the dam led to water flowing down, and the rain led to a great deluge, and the destruction of the Lepcha tribe was imminent. However, as the lower region started to flood, causing loss of life and property, the horn rose miraculously. The tribe members started to ascend the Tendong Hill, which became their only chance for survival.

The Lepcha tribe still celebrates this occasion to commemorate the almighty who saved their ancestors and pay respect to the hill.

Prostration is a gesture used in Buddhist practice to show reverence to the Triple Gem.It should be carried out with reverence and devotion.With body erect and placing one's clasped hands at the three places-forehead,throat and heart.Each prostration should go hand in hand with one refuge verse i .e I take refuge in the Buddha,I take refuge in the Dharma,I take refuge in the Sangha.Namo Buddhayah🙏🙏🙏

TOSAR LAKE-located at the altitude of 13120 ft and it is considered as sacred and worshiped by the Local People.It takes 3 days and 2 nights to reach there from Phamtam Kyong.
