Her sermons are always relevant and timely reminding us of our purpose and how it is aligned with the purpose that God has planned for us

Her purpose was not always clear to her as the salvation testimony of Pastor Yemisi Kudehinbu narrates. As a pharmacy student at Lagos University, she wanted to be seen in the right crowd. By avoiding the Christian preacher on campus, she forged a path of her own.
The path of Pastor Yemisi Kudehinbu
Her beauty and her charismatic personality gave her a modeling contract and access to the right parties. However, on January 26th, 1991, the Holy Ghost drew her to a birthday party that would transform her life. At that select gathering, she decided to give her life to Jesus Christ and recite the salvation prayer. A calm relaxed aura came over her, and her love for Jesus Christ has remained unwavering ever since.
Pastor Yemisi Kudehinbu’s tireless work for Christ Embassy has harvested many souls for Christ, and her encouraging sermons mean these individuals go on to reach their potential. She is an example of a person who was on a path to achieve good things in life but found even greater success when she dedicated her life to the work of the Ministry.

Taking the messages of Pastor Chris into the virtual zone.
As she is the Zonal Pastor for this vital component of Christ Embassy, her thoughts are heard and seen by millions of followers around the globe. Her inspired leadershipand her messages enhance the virtual experience of going to Church.
When she asks, “Were you in Church today?” she reminds us that it is important to know who you are in Christ and what you’re made of. Her messages give you time and space to acknowledge who you are as a Christian. She urges the brethren to make confessions and make declarations because that declaration becomes your reality. The Virtual Church brings you into fellowship with Christ so you can receive the Holy Spirit.
Worship Wednesday is an inspiring midweek service lead by Pastor Yemisi
Through the oratory of Pastor Yemisi, we feel that there is power for us who believe. She skillfully reminds us that when we are born again, we received something supernatural, something cleansing, something man cannot explain. You receive the very Life of God. Worship Wednesday is a wonderful service where you can hear her words of wisdom and enjoy some of the finest Gospel ministers’ worship songs.
She takes the message of the Man of God, Pastor Chris, and encourages her community to live like someone that received the name of Jesus. When you are born again, you receive eternal life, and that’s the life that you have inside of you. Her empowering sermons encourage you to take charge of the information in your mind. When she addresses the congregation, you feel there’s nothing to fear or worry about. All things are working for your good.
She advocates for the messages that Pastor Chris teaches because our Man of God points you to the Word. Through online, virtual ministry, Pastor Yemisi brings you to the Kingdom of God and provides you with an understanding of the Word, wherever you are in the world.

Dansuki is our Son, and we will give him our 100% Support. -Etung Leaders Speaks.

As Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo continues his statewide consultation for his gubernatorial ambition come 2023, he visited Etung LGA on the 21st of December 2021 to consult with political stakeholders to drive home his mission.
Arriving at that the venue for the consultation, the lawmaker popularized by the nomenclature, “Iroko” for his political sagacity and doggedness was received amidst pomp and splendour
The engagement which started with a brief introduction climaxed into an address by the guber hopeful to the people of Etung.

He thanked the people of Etung for making out time to come out enmass to receive him. He acknowledged the unending list of dignitaries. Dansuki as he is fondly called went emotional, engrossed with passion as he broke into praise and worship to God. His message of the siege is over was reechoed, accompanied with the message that the Dansuki Project is a divine project ordained by God that will see the light of the day.

He went memory lane into his political antecedent in Etung in 1999 where the then ANPP delivered the Chairman of the LGA in the current Senator for Central Senatorial District.
Asuquo went further to remind the people of the political history of Cross River State beginning with Mr. Donald Duke who performed creditably and then handed over to Imoke from the Central. Similarly, Imoke handed over to Ayade after delivering his campaign promises.

His analysis of the political situation was buttressed on the sincerity of purpose and the reality on the ground which the South has waited for 16years, which one has to reason in the line of equity and allow the governorship to be zoned to the South.

“I have a brother contesting, I will advise my brother and you not to be marginalized because others will begin to you as fighting against the tide. My brothers, if you vote for me, you are invariably voting for Sen. Sandy Onor because he is my brother. Hence, if I am governor today, it means Sandy is the governor. It’s best for him and you not to waste the vote by fighting a lost course. If he waits, I will gladly hand over to him at the expiration of my tenure.

“What I bring to you today is a partnership, not support. Let’s sit down and reason together and build the bridges for the future. As a farmer, I know the challenges you all have.

My administration will establish agro-processing hubs across the three Senatorial Districts to make you have good value for your money”.

In their response, Hon. Sir Victor Njor Ogar, spoke on behalf of the Nta People (Etung North) as he appraised the lawmaker as the best. He always fight for the right of his people which was evident from 1999 till date. He begged for the spirit of brotherhood between Dansuki and Sandy and added by saying, “Sir, We are behind you”.

Mr. Emmanuel Ndum spoke on behalf of Southern Etung, whereas Mr. Ochang Bichine, anchored on behalf of the Mbume people and reiterated the position of the representative of Etung North but added that the Dansuki is not in the contest as the people of Southern Etung and Mbume have pledged their total support.

Pastor Dorathy Orok anchored the position of the women by corroborating the position of others but also went passionate by describing the virtue of an Etung woman for their take-charge approach and as messengers to the Dansuki Project and finally accepted the proposed partnership with their 100% support.

The Chapter Chairman of Etung, Hon. Michael Kajang Obaji concluded by saying, “let’s settle on the principle of brotherhood as we have heard your message of hope and consolation. Sir, in your project we are there, and when you get to Government House, it’s an Etung man you will call first. For this purpose, we are solidly behind you and will support you as you journey to Government House”.

Ekpo Okon's Return to PDP Excites Dansuki

The member representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Cross River State, the Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo(Dansuki) says his excitement knows no bounds, following the return of Ntufam Ekpo Okon to the PDP.

Okon, a former chairman of the PDP in the state, had defected to the APC in 2019 and was made a deputy governorship candidate of the party.

But on Monday, he formally returned, having earlier rejoined the PDP from his ward, a development that Asuquo said was a good omen for the state and for the party.

Asuquo said: "Let me say that I'm very happy today. I'm happy because the man who sent me to the National Assembly is back to the PDP. Ntufam Ekpo Okon, one of the founding fathers of the PDP in Cross River State, is a man I respect a lot.

"I remember in 1999 when the PDP founding governor, Mr Donald Duke made sure there was nobody in the opposition; those of us in the then APP and ANPP all joined the PDP and the party has remained strong till date."

He said the current government under Prof Ben Ayade was a failure. "The only development that Cross River State has witnessed so far was only during the leadership of Mr Donald Duke and Senator Imoke as governors."

According to him, the return of the former Cross River representative on the board of the NDDC was the best thing to happen to the state chapter of the PDP.

He urged all citizens who were yet to register and join the party to do so urgently, while also enjoining eligible voters to get their voters' cards to enable them vote out the APC.

EFIK KINGDOM REBUKES ILLEGAL CHIEFTAINCY TITLES

Etuboms of Efik Kingdom have unanimously rebuke the planned illegal coronation and award of chieftaincy titles by one Chief Adam Efa John Eyamba.

In a statement made available to our newsroom, the Etuboms decried the rebellious actions of the said Chief Adam Eyamba who was ostracised alongside his cohorts from Efik royalty.

Of great concern, is the complicity of an appointee of the State Government, Hon. Bobby Effiom Ekpenyong who was pivotal in the carnage at his native village, Ekenge Okoyong in Odukpani LGA.

"Coming to Calabar South LGA to incite a communal strife is worrisome because he is not from here", a Clan Head who pleaded anonymity, retorted.

Meanwhile, the Government of Cross River State and the Methodist Church of Nigeria have dissociated themselves from the illegal ceremonies at different fora.

As at press time, all efforts to reach Chief Adam Efa John Eyamba, Obol Ekpenyong Eyamba and Hon. Bobby Ekpenyong proved abortive as intelligence revealed they are cooling off at the opposite bank of Calabar River (Iyata) in order to evade possible arrest and prosecution by security agencies for defrauding unsuspecting members of the public with illegal chieftaincy titles.

The EFCC have also been notified of this false means of obtaining monies from the people and all is set to apprehend the culprits.

Our sources are reliably informed that despite all warnings by the Efik community and government, the trio have commissioned their surrogates to set-up canopies in order to justify the monies swindled the unsuspecting members of the public.

Bakassi Council Chair, Residents Cries For Help As Cultist, Armed Robbers Torment Them; IPOB Hoist Flag In LGA

By James Essien

Residents of Bakassi Local Government Area have cried out over incessant cultist, armed robbery attacks in the LGA.

This is as suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) hoisted the Biafra flag at 'Welcome to Bakassi', the entry route to the local government, harassed residents of the area.

Residents who spoke with Eleven11ng said the suspected IPOB members stormed the area, chased away security men manning the area and hoisted their flag. More security men were however deployed to the area and the boys fled.

A resident, Emmanuel Okon told Eleven11ng that residents of Ikot Okon Ekpri Iwong, Ikot Edem Oku, Ikang, live in fear as they are attacked by cultists, armed robbers almost on daily basis.

He said "It's a terrible situation in Bakassi as I speak to you. They attack market women going to market, collect their monies almost on every market day.

"They do all these with impunity as there is little or no security presence the area. No police station, nothing. Last week Friday, they attacked some policemen at Welcome To Bakassi."

In an exclusive interview with Eleven11ng, the Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area, Hon. Iyadim Iyadim confirmed the hoisting of the Biafran flag at the local but said security men came and removed the flag.

He said: "By hoisting the Biafra flag, the boys may not know the consequences of their action. Some of these boys are ignorant, some are used by external forces. We have made them know that we are not taking their matter lightly. Security men have been deployed to the area. In fact, we have placed a temporary curfew in the LGA from 7pm."

The chairman explained that the deteriorating security situation in Bakassi is compounded by the non-resttlement of the Bakassi people and government's failure to fulfill its promise to ex-Niger Delta militants who downed their tools and embraced amnesty.

"The government had asked these agitators to down their tools and embrace amnesty and they were more than 500 who surrendered. When Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in collaboration with state government wanted to do life support training for the ex-agitators, they picked nearly 160 and the remaining ones don't know when the next would be their turn and something is not also done to sustain them, so it's difficult to stop them from harassing people to collect their valuables. Something should be given to them.

" We have done everything to curtail the activities of these boys. We used operatives to arrest them but the problem will never be stopped by that approach." He said.

Hon. Iyadim further explained that the situation is so bad that has not gone to work for the past one year as his council headquarters was completely raised down last year.

"My local government was brought down by people who are very disgruntled with government. They burnt down the police station, brought down every government institution in the local government.

" As I speak, for more than one year I've not gone to work. I only work skeletally but I intend to resume next month.

The council chairman called for help from government and bodies.

"I am making effort but there has to be a carrot and stick approach to this thing. When you tell them don't do this, what do offer them on the right hand?. We have also made our case known. The security agencies have also written to government. All the arms of government are aware of these challenges in my local government.

" Government should please come to my aid. We will not be able to remove these people from the local government without deliberate effort. The governor of Cross River State is trying his best but other people may join.

"Bakassi problem is a big one. Till today, there is no resettlement for the people. These is no compensation for the ceding of Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon".

On the lack of electricity in the LGA for more than one year, he assured that soon, power supply will be restored as efforts had been made in this direction.

Zoning and Rotation in Cross River State: My Perspective BY ARC. BASSEY EYO-NDEM

Another electoral cycle has started and, as usual, politicians and their supporters have started jostling for positions and narratives that will favour them in the coming months. One hot topic in Cross River State is the principle of Zoning and Rotation of political offices among its various components. While some are clamouring for sequential rotation of the office of governor, others feel otherwise and both sides are marshaling their arguments accordingly. The truth, however, is immutable and timeless. It can be ignored, covered up with sophistry and battered, but in the end, it remains the ever-shining light that leads discerning men and women to understanding and freedom. I, therefore, wish to lend my opinion, respectfully, to the ongoing discussions as follows.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Cross River State currently has 3 senatorial districts. Southern Senatorial District(S), Central Senatorial District (C), and Northern Senatorial District (N).

1. In 1999, the Zoning or Rotation of the office of Governor was still at a nascent stage. HE Donald Duke (S) and Kanu Agabi (N) contested in the PDP gubernatorial Primaries. In APP Eyo Etim Nyong (S) and Mark Ukpo (N) contested in APP primaries.

2. In 2003, Duke (S) contested against Okpa (C) his former Deputy and a few others from the north.

3. In 2007, HELiyel Imoke (C) contested against Walter Eneji (N) in the primaries and eventually went against Eyo Etim Nyong (S) in the general election.

4. In 2012 the idea and practice of rotation and zoning had deepened. HE Liyel Imoke (C) contested against Soni Abang(C) in the PDP primaries and eventually contested against UsaniU Usani (C) in the general election.

5. In 2015, the PDP primaries had 24 aspirants all from the north. APC followed suit and there were 3 main aspirants, all from the north as well. Eventually, in the general election, it was an all Northerner's affair with HE Ben Ayade (N) defeating Odey Ochicha (N) and becoming Governor.

6. In 2019 PDP maintained zoning and the incumbent had to contend with a fellow Northerner, Emmanuel Ibeshi, who was later said to have been disqualified. APC, however, argued that 2nd term was not an automatic right and should be based on performance. They appear to have jettisoned zoning and fielded Hon Owan Enoh (C).

However, where the leadership of any of the political parties failed to capture the mood of the people, the masses made their position clear on the field, in support of equity and rotation (8 years for each Zone).

Unlike what happened in 1999, when the zoning arrangement was at best an experiment or at a nascent stage, in 2019 the masses rejected their own tribesmen in the South and Central senatorial districts, on the basis of zoning, equity and justice, and voted massively for the Northern incumbent.

MAIN ARGUMENTS IN SUPPORT OF ZONING/ROTATION

1. Zoning is currently being practiced from Ward level to LGA to State and Federal levels.

2. It discourages the use of tribalism as a means to becoming Governor and allows for the orderly transfer of that office from one senatorial district to another.

3. It discourages domination by the majority tribe or district, by forcing them to give up power from time to time. This is very important in a multiethnic democratic society with weak institutions, as it allows minorities have their say and even their way.

4. It encourages all Cross Riverians to see themselves as one entity with a common destiny when a strong district willingly agrees to forgo its constitutional right to contest for a particular office, in order to support their smaller neighbor.

5. It encourages even development across all parts of the state. No part is allowed to dominate economically or politically in perpetuity.

6. Under zoning, the greatest critics of any incumbent governor are usually people from his own ethnic stock/district who feel he is representing the best they have to offer, and he or she must not disgrace them

7. It reduces violence and the cost of elections by making it unnecessary for politicians to form and arm ethnic militias to tackle their opponents.

9. It reduces corruption by making it difficult for moneybags from any other district or state to hijack or compromise the system against the flow of equity and natural justice.

10. Finally, Zoning creates room for the youth to grow and gather experience, so that when it is the turn of their district, they are ready to take up the mantle of leadership in a smooth, inexpensive and non-violent manner.

Because of the foregoing:

1. No senatorial district can take the Governorship entirely on its own and in perpetuity

2.With Zoning in place, the other senatorial districts are expected to urge their indigenes to give

up their constitutional right to contest, and await their turn, as has been done in the past

3. Voting demographics are dynamic and a large proportion of young Cross Riverian’s have come of age and are not ready to be fooled by those who seek to play tribal politics for their

personal interest while mortgaging the political future of the youth

As such:

1. The Senatorial district whose turn it is to occupy the office of Governor has to put forward its best materials in order to reinforce and build confidence in the zoning arrangement

2. The biggest fears of the other senatorial districts are marginalization, and lack of even development. However, developing one senatorial district and neglecting others is a recipe for failure because no Governor is elected to be the governor of his senatorial district only.

3. It is bad for the State in general when any part begins to feel marginalized. The way the Donald Duke/Liyel Imoke administrations handled fears of marginalization in the North by ensuring even development across all senatorial districts and eventually ceding power to them, when they could have done otherwise, in what looked like a one-party state/family is instructive. That practice has been continued by the Ben Ayade administration and should be sustained.

4. Every senatorial district must curb the antics of fiery demagogues with irredentist rhetoric’s or moneybags who feel they can buy peoples conscience and divide Cross River State into tribal lines, for their selfish interest.

5. There are 60 distinct languages spoken in Cross River State according to the encyclopedia Britannica. Senatorial districts are, therefore, artificial boundaries created for administrative convenience, and the common man in Akpabuyo is as much a victim of bad politics or rogue local government revenue agents as the common man in Obanliku or Obubra.

CONCLUSION

Although zoning /power rotation is not enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution and is a privilege or “gentleman’s agreement” which is not an enforceable right, it has nevertheless become a convention in our political life.

In the case of Cross River State, there was no signed and published document to record the letter and spirit of the preceding meeting and discussions that took place in 2014, unlike the Calabar /Ogoja Accord of 1979/80.

The decision to cede power to the North was arrived at with a spirit of give and take, and in keeping faith with the reality of fairness and equity. At that expanded Caucus meeting of the main Political party at the time (PDP), the South made a proviso that since they were being asked to shelve their right to contest the office of Governor for 16 years, power should rotate sequentially to them at the end of the North’s sojourn. It was unanimously endorsed and all the southern contenders had to drop their ambition immediately and support the northern ones. The main opposition at the time (APC) followed suit.

Subsequently, the South rejected attempts to lure them to support efforts to impeach the incumbent as they knew this was unfair and would bring chaos to the zoning arrangement.

On November 10th, 2018, the Northern Senatorial district came together and engaged the Southern Senatorial district in a brilliant and very mature display of non-partisan political sagacity. On that historic day,19 Northern stakeholders, including Chief Linus Okom (of blessed memory), the Ada

Bekwara, Chief JIC Igbe, Mike Aniah, Madam Theresa Ezama, etc and led by Brigadier General Anthony Ukpo (of blessed memory), met with 23 Southern stakeholders including (Arc) B Ndem, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, HRM Etim Okon Edet, Chief Gershom Davis, Prof Stella Atoe, Mba Ukweni (SAN) etc in the grand residence of Etinyin Asuquo Ekpenyong.

Although they had the power of incumbency in their zone, the Northern Senatorial District still felt it was imperative to appeal to the South to support their quest for power to remain in the North for the agreed 8year term, after which the governorship would return to the South and start a new cycle of rotation. After a lot of deliberations, the South agreed, once again, to forego its right to contest and reiterated the proviso that the North would support the South in 2023. Again, it was unanimously agreed and the communique that was issued at the end of that meeting effectively broke the back of agitation and the rest is history. One good turn certainly deserves another.

It is not surprising, however, that today, many are bringing up specious arguments like “zoning by elimination, or “all zones have had a go so it can start anywhere” to justify their attempt at advancing their selfish political interests. We must persuade such elements not to try to upset the applecart even if “all is fair in love and war”. For, it may favor them today but be a regrettable move for their youth, who are growing, and would be ready to smoothly take up the mantle of leadership in a few years, but have to pay for the sins of their fathers’ betrayal.

Sadly, you will always find a Judas who is ready to sacrifice his or her Senatorial District for their selfish interests. This must be discouraged and condemned with the strongest terms. Indeed, all the fiery rhetoric should be reserved for those who work against the state’s overall interest.

Zoning and sequential Rotation of political offices, from ward to federal level, ensures that no single group monopolizes any office and further guarantees the rights of minorities to ascend to the highest office.

The onus is now on all the political parties to ensure that the senatorial district, whose turn it is to occupy an office, puts forward its very best materials for the rest of the state to elect and rally around. After all, the policies and actions of whoever is elected will affect all of us and not only members of his Senatorial District or political party.

The Good Book says it all in Proverbs 27: 2,7- “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rule, the people mourn...The righteous considers the cause of the poor: but the wicked pretends not to know it”.

May we all be guided by our consciences and what is in the best interest of the growth and peaceful coexistence of our dear Cross River State.
