Thermal imaging wearables used in China to detect COVID-19 symptoms could soon be deployed in the U.S.

Hangzhou based AI startup Rokid is in talks with several companies to sell its T1 glasses in America, according to Rokid’s U.S. Director Liang Guan.

Rokid is among a wave of Chinese companies creating technology to address the coronavirus pandemic, which has dealt a blow to the country’s economy.

A woman from Telangana travelled 1,400 km to bring back son stuck in Andhra Pradesh due to COVID-19 lockdown, a woman from Kerala criss-crossed six states, travelling 2,700 km across three days to meet her critically ill soon, a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur.
Notably, the 50-year-old woman made the journey accompanied by her daughter-in-law and a relative. The condition of her 29-year-old son, who was suffering from muscle inflamation, she said, is ‘improving.’

The family, according to reports, was informed about the condition of the BSF personnel, identified as Arun Kumar, by a doctor of AIIMS Jodhpur. Following this, they decided to make the said journey, crossing Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and, finally, Gujarat, to reach their destination.

Chattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, in a bid to provide some relief to the poor, announced on Wednesday, 15 April, that those without a ration card in their possession for any reason, will get ration free for one month,

Earlier, the state government had already announced that those who have a ration card will be given free ration for two months.

Spaniards at the country’s main transport hubs were handed face masks on a rainy Monday morning as the government relaxed some of the tough lockdown measures designed to rein in the coronavirus health crisis which has claimed nearly 17,000 lives.

As Spain enters its second month of lockdown, some businesses that cannot operate remotely, including construction and manufacturing, were allowed to reopen on Monday, sparking criticism from some regional leaders who fear a resurgence of the outbreak.

However, the majority of the population are still confined to their homes, while shops, bars and public spaces will remain closed until at least April 26.

A complaint has been filed by general secretary of the Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, against a man in Delhi for allegedly impersonating the trust and taking donations from people on behalf of the trust. The complaint, that The Quint has a copy of, has been filed on 12 April at Ayodhya's Shri Ram Janmabhoomi police station.

The impersonation is regarding a website with the URL rammandirayodhya.in started by the accused, whose name is Avinash and is a 35-year-old resident of Delhi. He said he was shocked that this complaint has been filed, "I have made no such demands for donation for the construction of the Ram Mandir or impersonated the trust," he says.

“Panchkula Police Police Station Chandimandir team arrested five accused in case of attack on an employee of General Hospital Sector-6, Panchkula, and her husband on 10.4.2020. All the accused named in the case have been arrested,” the police said in a statement.
The FIR was registered at Chandimandir Police Station on complaint of the nurse, who hails from a village Billah. The complainant and her husband, according to the FIR, work as nurses at the gynecologist ward of the Civil Hospital Sector 6 of Panchkula. The attack took place late evening on April 10.

India’s coronavirus disease (Covid-19) contact-tracing app Aarogya Setu (health bridge) became the world’s fastest growing mobile app on Tuesday night with 50 million users in 13 days. Of these, 11 million were in a single day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to download the application in his third televised address to the nation, according to the Niti Aayog team lead.

With 99% downloads on Android, Aarogya Setu overtook Nintendo’s popular augmented reality game ‘Pokémon GO’s’ record of 50 million downloads on Google Play in 19 days in 2016.

Bill Gates has said 'we weren't ready' for the coronavirus and criticised governments for not doing enough to prepare for a global pandemic.
The Microsoft co-founder has slammed world leaders for not investing in testing and equipment sooner when the virus first came to light in China last December.

In an interview with BBC Breakfast's today, Gates said that 'very few countries are going to get an A-grade' for the way they responded to the threat posed by the disease that gripped the world just three months.

China reported the highest number of new daily coronavirus cases in nearly six weeks, driven by a rise in infected travellers arriving from overseas and underscoring challenges Beijing faces in preventing a second wave of COVID-19.
A total of 108 new coronavirus cases were reported on Sunday, up from 99 a day earlier and marking the highest number of cases since 143 cases were reported on March 5.

The total number of confirmed cases in mainland China now stands at 82,160, while the death toll rose by two to 3,341.

The National Health Commission said on Monday that 98 of the new cases were imported involving people entering China from another country, a new record and up from 97 a day earlier. The number of asymptomatic cases fell to 61 from 63 a day earlier.

AS many as 3 more coronavirus cases were confirmed in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, takin the count in the state to 483. The state has so far reported five deaths- one each from Basti, Meerut, varanasi, Agra and Bulandshahar.
Among the most affected districts, Agra (104) is followed by Gautam Buddha Nagar (64), Meerut (51), LucknOw (32) and Sarangpur (28).

An international team including Antoine Wystrach, a CNRS researcher at the Research Centre on Animal Cognition (CNRS/Université Toulouse III—Paul Sabatier), has shown that ants are capable of changing their familiar route to avoid traps thanks to an aversive learning mechanism: by associating visual cues with negative experiences, they can memorise potentially dangerous routes.

This was discovered when scientists "trapped" desert ants by placing a pit trap with slippery walls in their path; a small bridge hidden by twigs was their only exit. On the first attempt, all ants rushed—at almost 1 m/s—towards the nest and fell into the hole.

SoftBank Group Corp CEO Masayoshi Son said he has secured a monthly supply of 300 million face masks for Japan after reaching a deal with Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD Co Ltd, which has also started producing masks.
From next month, SoftBank will supply two different kinds of mask, initially for medical staff, in cooperation with the Japanese government’s “mask team”, set up to tackle shortages due to the coronavirus outbreak, Son said on Twitter.
