In collaboration with Dr. Gabor Maté, Sophie’s book delves into the importance of emotional literacy. She advocates for a deeper understanding of our feelings and how they shape our lives. As she reflects, “It’s not a moment, it’s a growth, it’s an evolution” - underscoring the profound personal growth that can arise from even the most challenging circumstances.

As we enter Mental Health Awareness Month this May, let’s reflect on how the former CEO and co founder of , managed to navigate work-life balance.

With an audacious vision to revolutionize the entertainment industry Marc Randolph, alongside Reed Hastings,  launched Netflix in 1997, armed with just 925 DVDs and a determination to disrupt the status quo.

But the road to success wasn’t a smooth one. Despite their bold ambitions, Netflix struggled to gain traction in its early days. With skeptics lurking around every corner, many dismissed the idea —a tiny blip on the radar of entertainment giants like Blockbuster.

Instead of giving up Randolph doubled down on his vision, tirelessly refining the Netflix model and pushing the boundaries of innovation.

Yet, amidst the hustle and bustle of entrepreneurship, he also recognized the importance of work-life balance and mental well-being.

Reflecting on his journey, Randolph shared his dedication to spending quality time with his wife, highlighting their cherished Tuesday date nights.

For over thirty years, he had a hard cut-off on Tuesdays, leaving at exactly 5 pm to spend the evening with his best friend. Those moments kept him grounded and provided perspective on his work.

 In a bold move that shocked the industry, Netflix transitioned from DVD rentals to online streaming—a game-changing shift that redefined how the world consumes entertainment.

 Today, Netflix boasts over 200 million subscribers worldwide, reshaping the very landscape of entertainment.

Pizza time is always a good time but if you can relate to this, we need to talk ✋🏼

Well-being at work should most definitely be a priority for every company.
🍕 And that looks like different things to different people.

Is it company retreats? Increased benefits & pay? Maybe personal coaching?

Whatever it is, our stance is, wellness needs to be defined BY the EMPLOYEE. At the end of the day, that’s who it’s meant FOR.

It's not them it’s you.

The truth is that the problem lies with the company, not the employees.

👨‍💻 While you can target the issue through employee-focused initiatives, the real secret lies in changing the structures that lead to burnout in the first place.

👉 These include heavy workloads, job insecurity, excessive collaboration, or frustrating work routines*.

💥 One you target processes at an organizational level, only then can you truly combat burnout on an individual level.
