Shoutout to 2023 Mr Football Tarvis “Tjae” Davis intends to enroll at Ole Miss to pursue a degree in Business and Barber School. After graduating from Ole Miss, he plans to move to Indiana or Texas with his mother to establish his own barbershop. Rather than immediately diving into entrepreneurship, he aims to first acquire theoretical knowledge before gaining practical experience. Despite not being awarded any scholarships, Tarvis is grateful to his mother for providing financial support, ensuring he won't need to rely on loans or grants to cover his four-year education.

Have fun, but stay safe!

Tonight is Prom Night for Rosa Fort High School!
Prom Night can be a huge success and an unforgettable time with careful planning in advance and knowing about potential safety issues. Please review the Prom Safety Tips listed below.

PROM SAFETY
Tips for Teens: Have fun while staying safe
• Know your plans for the evening by discussing them with your parents, date and friends ahead of time.
• Discuss curfews with your date and friends before prom night to plan accordingly.
• If your date is someone you do not know well, make plans to get to know each other before prom night. This will make prom night less awkward.
• Ask a trusted adult to be near their phone and available on prom night in case of an emergency.
• Make sure your cell phone is fully charged!
• Set the example and show others you can have fun without drugs and alcohol.
• Always be alert, observant and assertive.
• Communicate boundaries with your date. You are not obligated to do anything you are not comfortable with.
• If you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, DO SOMETHING! Be prepared to deal with peer pressure and to say “NO!”.
• If your driver has been drinking – DO NOT GET IN THE CAR! If you are sober, offer to drive. Ask a sober friend to drive you. Call a trusted adult for help.

From all of us at the Tunica County Sheriff's Office - Have fun, be safe and make this the most special event of your high school career!!

We want to send a huge shoutout to 911 dispatchers who work hard sending first responders to emergencies. Thank a dispatcher this week.

National Public Safety Telecommunication Week April 14-20, 2024

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office would like to take the time to recognize our hardworking dispatchers. Our dispatchers serve as a vital link between our officers, the community, EMS, and the fire department. These dispatchers are a critical lifeline to our first responders, and citizens. These unsung everyday heroes are always there to answer the call. Below is a little about what our dispatchers job entails.

Dispatchers have challenging and stressful jobs as they handle all 9-1-1 emergency calls, non-emergency calls, and are in constant radio communication with the patrol officers. The officers’ safety is their highest priority.

When someone dials 9-1-1, it can be a matter of life and death. Some callers can get very emotional and want to tell the dispatchers the whole history that led to the crisis. So, the dispatchers are trained to take charge of the call and know what information the officers, firefighters, and EMS need in responding to an emergency. The dispatchers have to ask specific questions to obtain critical information, such as the exact address or location of an incident and if anyone needs medical help. The dispatchers routes medical calls and reports of any fires to the appropriate fire department.

In a medical emergency, our dispatchers keep in close touch not only with the dispatched units, but also with the caller.

Thank you to our Dispatchers:
