We spring forward this weekend! Check your smoke alarms! Redcross.org for amazing tips.
🕑🕑 Daylight saving time begins on March 10 and we encourage you to test your smoke alarms as you turn your clocks forward to make sure the devices are working.
Working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half as you only have about two minutes to get out. Every second counts when there’s a home fire and the sooner an alarm alerts you to a fire, the sooner you can get to a safer place. When you turn your clocks forward this weekend, test your smoke alarms too to help prevent a tragedy in your home.
Visit redcross.org/fire for more information, including an escape plan to create and practice with your family, or download the free Red Cross Emergency app by searching “American Red Cross” in app stores.

Sound the Alarm is a great program!!
👏 Thank you to this mighty team of Red Cross volunteers who spent their Saturday traveling to homes around Chicago installing free smoke alarms. Your time made over 60 people safer from home fires. 💗
Home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half. That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying volunteers to install free smoke alarms nationwide, as part of our Sound the Alarm events.

Great tips from IDOT !!
Much of the state can expect snow, sleet and freezing rain beginning overnight tonight and lasting past the morning commute. The roads will be slick and travel will be slow, so please plan accordingly. Check https://gettingaroundillinois.com/ if you will be out in the morning.
Ice 🧊🧊
Ice Event!!! Please be weather aware
🚨Icy commutes Monday/Tuesday🚨
A concerning icing event is expected Monday into Tuesday Morning. Expect high impacts to travel, likely event cancellations and delays.
While amounts are not too significant, roads and parking lots will be slippery.
-Monday Morning Commute: HIGH impacts possible in the Saint Louis Metro. Freezing drizzle and rain is expected to begin between 5-6AM and continue through 9AM. The metro has high overpasses and these will ice up quickly. We urge residents in the Saint Louis Metro to PLEASE leave early and allow extra time to your destination!
-Monday Lunch Rush: Feeezing drizzle and rain is expected across central and northern IL by this point. Moderate impacts are likely as roads will have slick spots.
-Monday evening Commute: HIGH impacts as a a heavier round of freezing rain pushes in. Expect widespread delays and evening event cancellations. Biggest impacts are gonna be between I-70 and I-80.
Tuesday morning commute: HIGH impacts to travel and school delays/closures possible in central/NE IL. Icing will be ongoing and roads will be icy.

Temps could rise up to the mid 90s in central/southern Illinois with heat indices nearing or exceeding 100 degrees.
Dew points in the 70s are likely which will make it very sticky and humid.
