In my experience, there is no absolute right or wrong decision when you are a CEO. The decision-making can vary greatly depending on the situation.

To give you an example, in The CEO Magazine, we started as a print product, which was an incredible product at the time — we were able to produce quality magazines with the best executive storytelling. But we had to keep up with the trend, and that is digital. We made a big move to transition, and now we even have The CEO Magazine Mobile App where you can access executive, inspiring stories from leaders all over the globe.

This transition happened because we were able to gather information about our audience, we were able to analyze both risks and benefits, and we made sure they aligned with our overall goals and priorities. Effective decision-making requires strategic planning and analytical thinking. Hence, whenever I make decisions, it should be for the right reasons.

Some feel that artificial intelligence is a threat to the workforce of the future. But my take is that AI and tools like ChatGPT could entirely revolutionize the way we do business, by allowing us to automate repetitive tasks and gain previously impossible insights. The challenge is all about being open-minded and willing to upskill to use tools like this effectively and creatively, ultimately providing better value to our clients.

Much like the business world, chess is a game of constant change, with new opportunities and challenges emerging at every turn. Both chess players and CEOs must adapt quickly to new situations and make winning decisions.

Discovering the values that shape my beliefs is not an easy thing to do. Even after many years in the business, I still uncover new things about myself, which surprises me at times. Being open-minded, inclusive, ambitious, and unafraid of failures are some of the personal values I always take with me in whatever situation. This helps me to live a life fulfilled and authentic.

When I got the role of CEO of The CEO Magazine, I was constantly asked what my vision was, and to be honest, I didn't have any idea. All I knew was we had a great business model, people and brand. And we needed to move forward.

In 10 years of being with the company, if I'm asked what my vision is now, my answer is making sure that I provide opportunities for people to grow within the company, for other talent to join The CEO Magazine and ensuring the brand's growth. With the right people beside me, I know we'll be able to put The CEO Magazine where it belongs – at the very heart of business for aspiring leaders.

Happy IWD to my beautiful, intelligent and inspiring partner. When I hear and experience first hand the challenges women face, often my natural response is to try to provide solutions. What I have learned is that often the best way to support is to listen, empathise and do my best to provide a safe space for thoughts and feelings to be shared.

In my 10 years of working with The CEO Magazine, I learned firsthand how important learning from our mistakes is. Mistakes are inevitable, but it is how we respond to them that truly matters.

When we first opened our US office in New York, it didn't quite go as planned, but we built from that learning, shifted our perspective, and now we're back — better than ever.

I can personally attest that our mistakes are valuable learning experiences that will help us become the best version of ourselves and the company that we passionately represent.
