SSR RACING

So I figured I'd do an official 360 race since I hadn't done one yet this week. After an eventful race at Williams Grove, I decided to go run the Pro Late Models at Eldora.

But, since I haven't raced a late model in more than a month, I figured it wasn't the best idea. So, I decided to host my own 360 race at Knoxville.

The turnout was amazing. We a full event with 40 cars, inverted heat races, and a wild A-Main Event.

It was definitely a fun time on iRacing today.

Hagerstown Speedway might be in Maryland below the Mason-Dixon Line from Pennsylvania, but the track does hold a great history in Sprint Car racing. Some of my best Sprint Car racing memories have come from there.

I recall a great battle between Doug Wolfgang and Bobby Allen for a race win where they battled and exchanged the lead numerous times while dicing through traffic before Allen ultimately rode the low groove in his No.1a, as he was best known for, to defeat Wolfgang in the famed Weikert’s Livestock No. 29.

I saw Lance Dewease get his first career 410 Sprint Car win anywhere back in 1986.

For years, I had my souvenir of a blown right rear tire that cost Steve Kinser a $12,000 win and handed the win over to Dave Blaney.

I watched Jeff Shepard battle and beat Fred Rahmer for the Speedweek win in 2008. And I also recently saw a great battle among Greg Hodnett, Danny Dietrich and Stevie Smith for the win. Smith pulled out the victory that night.

I’ll also never forget the night that George Bischoff flipped his car out over the guardrail between Turns 1 and 2 into the trees that lined the track. The scariest part of that was as that happened, a man that I knew had already left the pit area and was driving out of the track just as Bischoff’s crash happened.

So, most of my Sprint Car memories at Hagerstown Speedway are great.
