Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has announced the appointment of Dr. Folashade Ayoade as the Secretary to the State Government.

Ayoade, who was the SSG in the last eight years of the immediate past Governor, Yayaha Bello, is from the Kogi West Senatorial district.

The governor also announced the appointment of Ali Bello as the Chief of Staff.

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi says he came, saw and will be leaving the state better than he met it.

Bello stated this on Saturday at the 4th Convocation ceremony of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, for 10 sets of graduating students from 2013 to 2022.

Bello said part of his achievements were evident in the repositioning of Kogi Polytechnic and other state tertiary institutions.

Nine days after the demise of the late Governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, his remains arrived in Nigeria on Friday.

This was contained in a Facebook post by the former Chief Press Secretary to the late governor, Mr Richard Olatunde.

Akeredolu passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Germany, during a protracted illness. He was aged 67.

According to Olatunde’s post, the plane conveying the body of the deceased arrived at about 3:39 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Nigerian entertainer, Afeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, has taken legal action against actress, Iyabo Ojo, alleging the dissemination of false and defamatory content on her Instagram account.

In a letter sent to Ojo, Naira Marley’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, outlined the accusations made in a September 2023 post, stating that the actress accused Naira Marley of engaging in spiritual and physical dealings with the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

In a statement on Thursday, the Commissioner for Finance, Asiru Idris, said no interest or any form of payment should be made to anyone from Government Account henceforth.

According to the statement, all “standing orders and investment instructions are hereby cancelled forthwith”.

“All Kogi State and Local Government Accounts are hereby frozen with effect from today, Thursday 22nd November 2003.”

Bello, who is at the end of his eight-year double tenure, is expected to hand over power to the Governor-Elect, Usman Ododo, in January 2024.

This is coming after INEC has announce the results of Kogi State governorship election and declared APC’s Usman Ahmed Ododo as the winner.

Governor Adeleke served as the campaign chairman of the PDP in the election.

In a statement signed by the Osun APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, he also described Melaye’s defeat as the political demystification of Adeleke.

The statement reads, “The Kogi State gubernatorial election results should serve as a metaphorical mirror for Adeleke, reflecting his political emptiness. With Melaye’s defeat, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, the outcome in Kogi State this year might mirror the scenario in Osun State’s 2026 governorship election.”

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against collating results of Brass, Nembe and Southern Ijaw LGAs in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State, on Monday, granted singer, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, known as Sam Larry bail in the sum of N20m with three responsible duties.
