I recently had the opportunity to participate in a pretty amazing Max reconstruction case that I thought you guys might want to see.

Dr. Orentlicher was kind enough to invite me in to hang out with him, and .if for this maxillary IPS case, and thought I have no relationship with the aforementioned company at all, this treatment protocol is unbelievably impressive. The surgeons weren’t bad themselves.

Lately, I’ve been watching talk a lot about the connection between oral and systemic health, something many of us, as oral and maxillofacial surgeons, have understood for many years, and I can’t help but be somewhat torn on the seemingly new and increased attention this topic is receiving.

On one hand, widespread awareness is incredibly important if we’re going to make strides in terms of mainstream , but I do think we need to be careful about some well-intended misinformation that may be out there in the world of social media.

It’s important that we, in the and community play a role in shaping this discourse around the world, as the layperson cannot (no fault of their own) always decipher what is real and evidence based from what is conjecture and hyperbole.

Safe and effective is at the heart of day to day oral and maxillofacial surgery practice, and as the college students return to campuses all across the country for the spring and another season begins to come to an end, on top of taking this moment to express appreciation to all of those , , , etc who believe enough in what we do to entrust the care of their patients to us, I’d like to highlight something very important. Sedation and outpatient safety is not something to be taken lightly. management, emergency preparedness, and certification should be mandatory IMO. Anyone providing anesthesia services for patients should be well trained for any and all complications that can arise.

Convince me I’m wrong.

ACLS at an absolute minimum. Appropriate monitoring including . Period. Anything less is a disservice and frankly…careless.

My social media journey began in 2015, over a decade after completing my surgical residency and embarking on my private practice life. It’s mindblowing and unbelievably humbling that I find myself here, today, being recognized among the greats in what I know to be the GREATEST SPECIALTY IN ALL OF HEALTHCARE in among the most rewarding professions in all the world, oral and maxillofacial surgery.

I am truly fortunate in so many ways, and I cannot begin to articulate how much this means to me.

Congratulations to all the other accounts who have been recognized in their respective categories. To those who were not recognized this year, keep doing what you’re doing, raising the bar, and building bridges for future generations, and thank you to anyone who felt strongly enough about what I do to have voted for me and to for all YOU do for our profession.

Pt presented 2 years s/p of 14 aka 36 c/o pain, swelling, and

A CBCT revealed periapical pathology perforating the floor w imaging consistent with odontogenic

Patient was placed on Augmentin 875mg BID X 10D, and after day 4, we extracted the molar, carefully but completely debrided the socket, placed an amniotic/chorionic membrane over the visible Schneiderian membrane (slide 2), grafted over it, then place another membrane over the graft and closed w 4-0 chromic on a tapered needle.

I’ve had a lot of success using this technique over the years, and this case was no exception. Post op seems right on course, and I look forward to placing a in the site in a few months.
