Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit detectives are releasing surveillance video of a man who carjacked a woman and drove off with her child in the back seat. Investigators are asking the public for information on his identity and his whereabouts.
Shortly after 8:28 a.m., on Wednesday, June 26, Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a stolen vehicle at 850 W. Commercial Blvd. in Oakland Park.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victims, a mother and her three-year-old daughter, were involved in a car accident with another vehicle. When the mother exited her car to exchange information with the other driver, an unknown adult male entered the driver side of her vehicle and began to drive away with her child inside.
Investigators say, the mother grabbed onto the front passenger door of her vehicle and yelled out to the subject that her child was inside of the car. The mother was dragged before falling to the ground as the subject drove away.
Investigators obtain surveillance video of the subject that captures several moments. First, the subject is seen exiting the vehicle with the child in the car seat and leaving her in a sidewalk. Another moment captures the subject abandoning the vehicle. The final video captures the subject using the victim’s credit card at a Family Dollar store.

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate an individual who opened fire into a crowd of juveniles fighting in West Park. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest.
At approximately 10 p.m. on Friday, April 12, BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to a shooting call at Mary Saunders Park, 4750 S.W. 21st Street. When emergency crews arrived on scene, they located a juvenile female suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the victims to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the shooting occurred during a preplanned fight between students who attend the same high school. Detectives say the physical altercation was part of an ongoing disagreement that started at the school.
Video surveillance of the incident shows what detectives say is a blue sedan pulling into the Mary Saunders Park parking lot. The driver parks the vehicle, and a female exits the passenger side. A few minutes later, a group of juveniles gather, and the fight begins.
During the physical altercation, an unknown subject—believed to be a male—exits the driver’s side of the blue sedan with a rifle and fires multiple rounds into the crowd of minors. The shooter and passenger then reenter the vehicle and flee the scene.
Investigators say the shooting was also streamed live on social media.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact BSO Violent Crimes Det. Allison Craven-Swan at 954-321-4384 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch App. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone in the United States.
